Oxana, Victor, Genie, and Edik are all considered feral children because of early childhood traumatic experiences. The first child that was considered feral was Victor who lived in Paris, France in the early 1800’s. Victor lived out in the woods by himself and was always on the run from people trying to catch him. Victor was caught twice before finally being apprehended by two hunters. He stuck the interest of a doctor who wanted to see if he could help the young boy become better in society. Most people that that Victor was stupid and would not be able to learn anything. The poor girls name was Genie and she was thirteen years old when she was finally found. Most people think that feral children come from the woods or mountains but this child was found in her bedroom in the popular city of Los Angeles in 1970. When Genie was found she still wore diapers, could not walk, nor did she have clothes or toys. The child also did not know how to talk at all. Her bed was a steal cage with chicken wire around it. The video almost gave an excuse for the horrible was that Genie was treated. It said that her father lost his mother in a hit and run accident that it sent him into depression and raging cruelty. He would make genie spend her days strapped to a potty chair and mad her live a life of complete isolation. Clark, who was the dad, intimidated his wife, Irene, and other child into not having contact with Genie. Finally, Irene had enough of it and went to the police. The police eventually found Genie and tried charging Clark with child abuse. However, before his trial he shot and killed himself. Genie was considered perfect to the science world because they would never be able to do an experiment like her on a real life person. When she was taken from her home at thirteen, she was the size of a six-year-old. She was never given solid food to eat which stunted her growth and created malnutrition. His story took place during the late 1990’s. He was four years old when he was found living with the stray dogs in his poor town. His father was nowhere to be seen and his mother was a complete alcoholic. Edik has a twin sister that was actually taken care of by some neighbors but they did not want anything to do with Edik. He and Oxana showed the same characteristics which was living and acting like a dog. Now two years after being found and rescued he is doing much better. He now knows words and how to eat with silverware. However, he is only reading like a three-year-old. He is still having trouble speaking but is learning some. During the video a man came to see Edik and see how Edik would react going back to his old town, Mirny. Edik exerted stress and it was obvious this town brought back horrible memory’s. While there the mayor of the town and police showed up and asked the camera crew and man that was studying Edik to leave now and put the camera’s away. They said that nothing happened and that everything was made up and a lie. As they were leaving a nicely dressed older woman came up and confirmed that everything was true even when the mayor and police asked her not to say
