ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

First and foremost, I would like to acknowledge Ms. Nuraini Jamil, one of the lecturers in Faculty of Computing and Informatics, Universiti Malaysia Sabah Kampus Antarabangsa Labuan, who played her role as the advisor for this whole project. She has done a lot in being that very source of guiding light. I appreciate every consultation that helps to encourage me and start writing this proposal for a commercial. I hope that everything that I proposed here will be approved and meets the exact requirements needed to fulfill her satisfaction and needs.

Next, I would like to thank my family and friends who kept supporting me from the back while writing this. A special mention to my father, Yakup Sahar whom kept giving me great advices to keep pursuing my dreams and study hard. Also mentioning Nehemiah Nadim for giving me some brilliant ideas and points on deciding on what sort of commercial would I like to propose. Without their moral support, I would have never even started to write and propose this at all.

Lastly, I would like to thank Fall Out Boy; specifically Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley as my sole inspiration to decide to help promote a physical compact disc album. I am always intrigued and amazed by their lyrics and song composition ever since I started following them in 2005. The messages that they convey through their songs are almost unapparent but I always tried my best to interpret the hidden messages or references in every song, every single line and every single word that they wrote. They are the very definition of a true artist whom continued producing masterpieces approved by the likes of Steven Tyler, John Mayer, Brendan Urie, Hayley Williams and Elton John. Elton John acknowledged Patrick Stump as “the voice of a generation” in Fall Out Boy’s latest album, Save Rock and Roll.

INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION

This main objective of this project is to create a 12 seconds video advertisement or commercial. The main idea of creating a commercial is to help promote a new product to be known to the public via the mass media namely television, news or even the internet specifically on YouTube. It will also help increase the sales charts of the new product after being given such publicity via the mass media. Every single video productions are required a proposal to be written so that it will be proposed to the company executives so that they will roughly know what sort of commercial or how are we going to convey the message within a very limited time so that people will absolutely know what are the products that we will sell to the general public.

Here I want to stress on the selling of a physical compact disc (CD) album of an alternative rock band just like Fall Out Boy to justify that the sales of physical album copies are still as important as the sales of digital album copies. I’m naming my imaginary band, Free Our Boundaries and their latest album is called Save The Songs.

PROJECT TITLE

PROJECT TITLE
“Save The Songs”

The main reason for choosing this project title was simple. It is the very title for the album itself thus the main idea of how I’m going to convey the message is also simple that is through the songs from the album itself.

PROJECT SUMMARY

PROJECT SUMMARY

The timeline is very short but it is just enough to promote the album quickly and the message is conveyed that Free Our Boundaries have just released a new studio recording album, Save The Songs. For the first 5 seconds of the commercial, there will be some behind the scene footage of Free Our Boundaries recording the album in their recording studio with two of the songs from the album playing on the background. The final 7 seconds will directly show the band members holding the CD saying “Save The Music. Save The Industry. Save The Songs. Now On Sale at a music store near you”.

PROBLEM STATEMENTS

PROBLEM STATEMENTS

As I mentioned above, I highly stressed on the CD sales are as important as the sales of digital copies. The world’s music industry generally are still depending a lot on the physical albums even after Steve Jobs introduced iTunes in hoping to help fight piracy and granting easier access to the singles and albums of a consumer’s favorite artists. The price of one physical album costs more than a digital album. A standard recording artist physical album would cost around $20 (approximately RM65) while a digital album sold in iTunes would only cost around $10 (approximately RM32). This is due to the printing of the cover art, the CD casing and the compact disc itself. Therefore, if the sales of physical albums suddenly went downhill, will the industry come crashing down as well?

OBJECTIVES

OBJECTIVES

Here is the objectives of my commercial:

1. To inform the general public that the music industry still depends a lot on physical album sales. 2. To inform the viewers that Free Our Boundaries have released a new major recording album. 3. To encourage the viewers to stop music piracy and support the music industry. 4. To showcase and document the scenery of an actual recording session of the band. 5. To promote the songs available in the album.

PROJECT SCOPE

PROJECT SCOPE

I proposed the idea to use an alternative rock band as my main subject of product I am selling based on my personal favorite band, Fall Out Boy. Their poems are always a masterpiece. I was also influenced by the likes of Paramore and Panic! At The Disco in terms of lyrics and song composition thus acknowledging them as the true artists of the modern era since the time of Guns N’ Roses or even William Shakespeare.

Their talents, Pete Wentz specifically are the mastermind of producing the lyrics of all their songs while Patrick Stump composing it and singing it, are a rare find. If their talents are left unrecognized then the general public can’t help for the fact that they wrote the truth about everything ranging from one night stands, breakups and even the music industry itself. If the world cannot recognize their music then the sales will obviously fall out.

Steve Jobs was the man who revolutionized the digital world with innovative ideas such as the iPhone, iPad, iPod and of course the most important one of all in my own opinion, iTunes. It is the largest online music store in the world. Every single release of every single possible artist around the world used iTunes for their own good. One song literally ONLY costs about $0.99 in iTunes.

One country’s music industry though has never really been able to move on to the digital sides just yet and it is Japan. Japanese people generally prefer to walk down to the music store and purchase a single or album CDs instead of buying from iTunes. The Japanese music industry is the second largest next to the Hollywood scene in America. This basically means that the physical album sales are just as important as the digital copies.

One thing we can learn from the Japanese people is that they have a country that rarely receives any major influence from other nations. They trust in their own language, they trust in their own culture and they trust in their music. This passion drive is what keeps Japan as one of the leading countries of the world in general. Let’s say another Hiroshima and Nagasaki incident occurred, the world’s music industry will suffer as they have lost their main assets of physical albums buyers.

CONCLUSION

CONCLUSION

In a nutshell, I want to change the general public’s perception of the world’s music industry generally. Since the introduction of the internet age, people are always taking chances for granted and music piracy happens. This is without a doubt a very bad thing for the industry and it does affect the artists whom had worked hard in producing a studio album. I hope that the message that I’m trying to convey from this very short commercial is easily accepted by all the viewers if my proposal is approved.

Ntsc

...-Introduction: The work of the first NTSC (National Television System Committee) was built on the basis of earlier standardization attempts. The first NTSC laid the foundations that made monochrome television a practical reality in the United States. The standards it endorsed in 1941 are still in use today. At the dawn of color television it seemed at first that it was not going to be compatible with monochrome television and would need special receivers. A tug of war of compatible versus incompatible color television systems ensued. The compatible system won. The second NTSC set up the compatible standards that have been adopted by the U.S. and by the rest of the world in many major respects. Casual observers of technical progress often assume that the basic forces at work are merely those of new science and improved technology. But seasoned veterans of the technical wars know that many other forces are also at work. Prominent among them are the pride and prejudice of technical, industrial, and political leaders; the pursuit of power and profit; the rivalry for command of patents and markets; as well as the forces of government: inertia, misunderstanding, and, occasionally, foresight. The development of television in the United States is a prime example of the conflicting interplay of these forces and their ultimate resolution for the public good. The body on which these forces were principally brought to bear was the National Television System Committee. The first...

...Business Proposal for online expansion – Food Corps Jermaine Ross Western Governors University Business Proposal for online expansion – Food Corps In a small town in North Carolina, the United States Marine Corps combat force is training for an upcoming combat mission to Iraq. With the Marine Corps standard of not allowing service members to shop outside of the military base while in uniform, several service members are faced with a dilemma. The options of finding a nutritious meal are limited to local takeout or the not so nutritious military meals ready to eat (Survival Acres, 2014). As a solution to the problem, a young Marine Sergeant pulls out the business flyer he received in the mail from a local business. The flyer provided a solution to many of the Marine’s meal problems. The business was offering to pick up meals from any local dining establishment while only charging a small fee that was close to what a tip would be at many of those establishments. The service member placed the call, Food Corps arrived within the hour delivering over twenty meals and the rest was history. Developed in 2008, Food Corps has proudly served the needs of America’s heroes in their time of need. Food Corps helps feed the United States Military and emergency response personnel by helping the hero find the food they want and delivering it to them when they need it most. Vizio and the Market for Flat Panel Tvs

...Paper Flat panel displays encompass a growing number of electronic visual display technologies. They are far lighter and thinner than traditional television sets and video displays that use cathode ray tubes (CRTs), and are usually less than 10 centimetres (3.9 in) thick. Flat panel displays can be divided into two general display device categories: volatile and static. In many applications, specifically modern portable devices such as laptops, mobile phones, digital cameras, camcorders, point-and-shoot cameras, and pocket video cameras, any display disadvantages are made up for by portability advantages. Most of the modern flat-panel displays use LCD technologies. Most LCD screens are back-lit to make them easier to read in bright environments. They are thin and light. They provide better linearity and higher resolution. A multifunctional monitor (MFM) is a flat panel display that has additional video inputs (more than a typical LCD monitor) and is designed to be used with a variety of external video sources. In many instances, an MFM also includes a TV tuner, making it similar to a LCD TV that offers computer connectivity. ------------------------------------------------- History[edit] The first engineering proposal for a flat panel TV was by General Electric as a result of its work on radar monitors.[when?] Their publication of their findings gave all the basics of future flat panel TVs and monitors. But GE did not continue with the R&D required and never built...

The Bill, among other things, proposes two copyright exceptions relevant to this paper – (a) modifying the existing fair dealing exception to include parody and satire. Similar to the Australian position, the Bill does not provide any definition for these two terms. We are not aware of any official record that provides a detailed explanation about the intended scope of this proposed new exception; and (b) providing a new exception for “non-commercial user-generated content” (UGC) 7 subject to certain prescribed conditions, e.g. giving due credit to the underlying work and not having “a substantial adverse effect, financial or otherwise, on the exploitation or potential exploitation…or potential market” of the underlying work. 7. During the discussion of the original Act, there were criticisms that the exception for non-commercial UGC was too wide and the conditions attached thereto were unrealistic, and that it might violate the three-step test required by the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) of the World Trade Organization.
