...At the outset of my team’s discussion of strategizing about our plan, we quickly recognized that even once we decide upon an approach to unify our efforts within Capsim, we must hold that plan loosely, ready to adapt to market forces and changes. A strategy should unite us moving forward, not shackle us to our understanding of the market in week one. That said, we decided to pursue a niche differentiation strategy, targeting the high-tech market. Our primary focus is differentiating ourselves from competitors by having the new, small, and reliable sensors, while still working to keep research and development project times reasonable and production costs competitive. In the early rounds, our high-tech products could end up falling into the low-tech category (as the market shifts) at which point we may need to adjust pricing on those product(s) to compete with cost-leaders. In any eventuality, we want to make sure we concentrate our spending on capturing marker share for high-tech sensors. By differentiating our products, we stand to capture customers overlooked by the low-cost focus....

...Intro to Business Week 3 The United States has several laws that are intended to further fair, balanced, and competitive business practices. Do you think that such laws are effective? If so, why? If not, why not? So the question asks if the several laws that the United States has to further fair, balanced, and competitive business practices are effective. My opinion not so much. There are many big companies out there that have stepped out of line and because they have good lawyers they are able to break those laws without getting penalized. However there are those occasions that those laws actually help out. One example is the Antitrust Law. Also referred to as "Competition Laws" - are statutes developed by the U.S. Government to protect consumers from predatory business practices by ensuring that fair competition exists in an open-market economy. One particular company that plays with these laws is Walmart. Walmart has many stores throughout the country and for many people it is the only store that has what they need. It is the one stop shop for many people in the Midwest. They have taken over towns and cities promising to not harm small shops and to give back to the people and it communities. Walmart is using the antitrust law in in Europe so that they can be in Europe and be that Monopoly. So with that being said Walmart is very familiar with such law. Another example of this company playing with this law is with Coka-Cola. Coka-Cola had a product they were going to...

...Cloud Computing Reginald L. Butler Dr. Jim Marion CIS 109 September 10, 2013 Cloud Computing History and Origns This quarter at Strayer University I took a course called Intro Management Information Systems online. There were many concepts and technologies we studied, but the one I was most fascinated about was Cloud Computing. Cloud technology has become very popular among consumers over the past decade. The tech is used in a wide variety of electronic devices such as PC’s, smart phones, tablets, streaming devices, etc. Even more important is the impact of cloud computing on the business market. They ways in which a company can use the cloud are limitless if they so choose to invest in the technology. Recently, both Sony and Microsoft stated that cloud technology will play a pivotal role with their next generation consoles coming out this fall. With all the talk of cloud computing going on today one has to wonder how did it become so popular? What are the origins of this new found tech and what will cloud computing evolve to in the future? Cloud computing is a technology that the world is just becoming familiar with, but the tech is not new. According to Wallace (2013), cloud computing was once referred to as “on-demand infrastructure” and has been around since the mid 90’s. Latter in 1995, the on-demand infrastructure was known as “Shared Web Hosting” which features included multi-tenant, automated provisioning, and an easy-to-use interface or (UI) as it’s known...

...Mintzberg - Concept of Strategy - introductory chapter - Week 1. Author wants a set of working definitions for planning and strategy - Last sentence before 'Why Plan?' - p11 - Last paragraph - p27 - define planning/planners So now we have a more operational definition of planning, since the word can be identified with two observable phenomena in organisations - the use of formalized procedure and the existance of articulated result, specifically concerning the integrated system of decisions. - p14 PLANNING 1) Planning is future thinking. 2) Planning is controlling the future. 3) Planning is decision making. 4) Planning is integrated decision making. 5) Planning is a formailized procedure to produce an articulated result, in the form of an integrated system of decision. (-authur not think this is too restrictive. This is his main def of planning.) Can be seen as the preferred way of doing strategy or managment or decision making but not as them. - through de-composition, articulation and rationalization. - p15 WHY PLAN? -why formalize? 1)Organizations must plan to coordinate their activities. 2)to ensure that the future is taken into account. - "The first readon to look into the future in a systematic away is to understand the future implications of present decisions" and "..the present implications of future events." (Loasby, 1967:301) The future can be taken into account in 3 ways(Starr, 1971,315) a)preparing...

Business’s either collapse or succeed when stock prices go up or down depending on the market at the time; it’s like gambling. The stock market is a medium for business’s and investors who want to be part of the company to interact. The NYSE or New York stock exchange is the capital, the kingdom if you will where all the business takes place. Companies issue stock with the Securities and Exchange Commission to be able to sell shares on the Stock Market. This is done to raise capital for growth and improvement of the company. An IPO or Initial Public Offering is the first time a company ever sells shares of stock in the stock market. It’s a big event because after an IPO all the companies’ financial information will be public. It does have its pros and cons. On the bright side it helps bring in a lot more funding to expand the company, it’ll be able to compensate in stocks, and the owner will usually have the majority of shares and...
