...Week Four Learning Team Reflection Week Four Learning Team Reflection In any business, a strategic performance management plan is a critical planning document that guides the business regimen. The plan should address six key areas: alignment of the performance management framework to the organizational business strategy, organizational performance philosophy, job analysis process to identify skills needed by employees, methods used for measuring the employee’s skills, process for addressing skill gaps, and approaches for delivering effective performance feedback. We have included the principles and strategies used in the performance management plan for the small and medium businesses. Small Business – Landslide Limousine To ensure the alignment of the performance management framework to the organizational business strategy, employees must understand what their individual objectives are and how they are associated with the business. This will encourage the employee to become more involved. Employees that are aware of how their efforts directly contribute to company achievement, they commit to finding ways to work more effectively and efficiently. To support the organizational performance philosophy, the small business must operate reflective of their core values and beliefs, which is identified in the mission and vision statements. Organizational performance philosophies will address the performance expected from all employees...

...Reflections Week Four Learning Team E Andrew Appleton, Samuel Bowers, Martha Martin Jennifer Payton RES/351 November 4, 2013 Joshua West Reflections Week Four Learning Team E The objectives for week four reflections are: Differentiate between qualitative and quantitative methods of research. Explain commonly used qualitative research designs and quantitative research designs. Select the appropriate type of research design in a given business situation. Team member Mandy discussed that qualitative research is a systematic subjective approach used to describe life experiences and give them meaning. This includes focus groups, in-depth interviews, and reviews of documents for types of themes. This most commonly used in Health Care. Quantitative research is a formal, objective, systematic process for obtaining the precise measurement of something. This includes surveys, structural interviews and observation, reviews of records or documents for numeric information. This is commonly used in Education research. If a clothing company sells blue jeans and they want to measure the impact of the company by changing the product from blue jeans to black jeans, this would be a causal research design. Further discussion within the subject by team member Joann consisted of the importance to understand the difference between qualitative and quantitative methods of research. In qualitative method of research is designed to know more about the subject’s feelings. This would be a...

...Week 4 - Reflection Learning Team “B” University of Phoenix Online QNT/351 Quantitative Analysis for Business April 13, 2014 The last four weeks have been challenging but also fulfilling for our team. We have formed a collaborative learning team that works well together using problem solving techniques and work experiences. Our collaborative reflection for the last four weeks is as follows: The Steps in Testing a Research Hypothesis Hypothesis testing begins with a statement and assumption that determines the population of the mean, (Lind, 2011, p.288.). The five steps listed in Lind are as follows: 1. State null and alternate hypothesis 2. Select a level of significance 3. Identify the test statistic 4. Formulate a decision rule 5. Take a sample and arrive at decision However in McClave, 2011, pages 324 and 325 the steps for testing of a hypothesis are listed as “Elements of a Test of Hypothesis” and instead of five steps they list seven. The seven steps from McClave are listed as follows: 1. Null hypothesis: A theory about the specific values of one or more population parameters. The theory generally represents the status quo, which we adopt until it is proven false. The theory is always stated as Ho: parameter = value. 2. Alternative (research) hypothesis (Ha): A theory that contradicts the null hypothesis. The theory generally represents that which we will adopt when sufficient evidence exists to establish its truth. 3. Test statistic: A sample...

...Economics/561 June 21, 2011 Learning Team Reflection: Week Four Team A group discussion for week 4 focus on the first topic of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). GDP is the basic measure of an economy economic performance. This is the market value of the total quantity of final goods and services produced over the specified time period. The GDP is actually measured quarterly, but the number is then multiplied by four, so that the amount is in annual terms (Mankiw, 2010). In order for our team to understand this measure, we all agreed that it is necessary to first understand the concept of a final product. The GDP does not measure the market value of everything that is produced, because this would entail double counting. Each final product includes intermediate goods whose value is included in the value of the final product. Take, for example, a simple loaf of bread: the loaf is made from flour (and other ingredients), the flour is made from (say) wheat, and the wheat is grown from seeds. The value of the bread (the final product) includes the value of the flour, which includes the value of the wheat, which includes the value of the seeds. The GDP includes the market value of the bread — it does not then add the value of the flour, the value of the wheat and the value of the seeds. The value of a final product is also the value of the incomes of everyone involved in the production of both the final product and the intermediate goods that went into its production (Mankiw...

...Week Four Reflection xxxxxxx Acc/291 xxxx xxx Week Four Reflection This week’s consensus is overwhelmingly a feeling of clarity as compared to last week. Our team feels much more comfortable with statements of cash flows and financial statement analysis than with dividends, bonds, etc. The following are individual reflections on what we learned during week four. I think this week was easier for me than others because of the simplicity behind the terms. The statements of cash flows include operating activities, investing activities and financing activities. Operating activities include cash flow from business operations, things like sales. Investing activities includes assets, and financing activities include stockholders equity. We learned about direct and indirect cash flows this week. Indirect cash flows are the most commonly used by business and consist of three major steps: (1) determine net cash, (2) figure changes in asset and liability accounts, and (3) compare the figures on the statement of cash flows to the balance sheet. The second topic of this week was in regards to financial statement analysis. What this means is using financial statements in three different ways of comparison. The three ways are intracompany, industry and intercompany. The analysis of financial statements can be viewed horizontally, vertically or with ratios. Horizontally refers to over course of time, vertically refers to the change in figures, the difference between current and base...

...Week 1 Reflection Jonathan Guerrero MGT/230 Week 1 Reflection According to class in week 1 we discussed different ways to be in charge as a manger or in management. We learned the four functions of the management process, division of labor, critical thinking, and communicating clearly and affectively. The first week of class really reflect the many functions of being a manager or using these tools to become a manager. Using critical thinking helps to analyze and make decisions. We learned to use critical thinking to make a decision on impulse but to not make an impulsive action. The actions are to be delegated by management and needs to be communicated clearly and affectively. Parts of using critical thinking we also use the division of labor in management. This involves assigning tasks to workers, using a chain of command, and using a line of authority. In class we discussed the four functions of the management process. The four functions are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. “Planning is specifying the goals to be achieved and deciding in advance the appropriate action needed to achieve goals” (Bateman & Snell, 2010 pg15). In planning it provides the foundation for other functions. It is an ongoing process and it’s a decision process that allocates assets. Organizing is the management function of assembling and coordinating human, financial, physical, informational, and other resources needed to achieve goals. Examples of organizing are system...

...Crystal Shanyse King Professor Starra Shermin: Algebra Course November 28th, 2014 M2 Linear Reflection & Report When a person looks in the mirror, they see a reflection of themselves. Reflections in math often involve us flipping something over a line called the line of reflection. We can create mirror images of certain figures by reflecting them over a given line. It’s so amazing to use math in a reflection of our everyday lives. As a child, we think that math is pointless and why are we learning it? We think that we’ll never use it in life. But as i have grown older and have become an adult, i’ve used math almost everyday of my life from the smallest to the biggest things. It’s very important to be attentive in class, especially when your learning about algebra, because you never know when you’ll have to use it. In this week’s small group discussion, i learned so much from my classmates. Some of my peers did a linear equation reflection on they’re personal health, losing weight, making baby food, giving medicine to a baby, paycheck vs. expenses, a pool party, shopping, personal business, and budgeting. All examples of linear equations in real life. The example i was most impressed with was making baby food and giving medicine to a little child. I do not have any children, nor have i watched any long enough to give them medicine or baby food. But i learned that as a young parent it can be pretty scary. You are always concerned about what your putting into your child’s mouth...

...Reflection Cullen McPeek, Danielle Taliaferro, Afshin Mibrolooki, Joshua Lemmerman, Cary Colome QNT/351 February - 17 - 2015 Mohammad Sharifzadeh Reflection In week four, Team C read about the steps in testing a research hypothesis, comparing the means of two or more groups, and calculating the correlation between two variables. This paper will go into deeper into what we have learned as a team and as well as individuals. I think first we need to state what a research hypothesis is. A research hypothesis is "Represents the hypothesis that will be accepted only if the data provide convincing evidence of its truth. This usually represents the values of a population parameter for which the researcher wants to gather evidence to support." (Statistics for Business and Economics, 2011.) The first thing one must do in testing a research hypothesis is to make sure that a research question is phrased. The second step in this procedure will be to study the proposed theory in terms of parameters. Thirdly a study will be designed. Once this is done the fourth thing that takes place is data is recorded and collected. The fifth thing is the data is summarized and a test statistic is computed. After computing this the sixth thing is the observed significant level is computed. Once all of these things are completed the final and last thing to complete is to draw conclusion. In taking this seven step process one will be able to clearly state the steps in testing a research hypothesis...

...Team Refection Learning Team Reflection Week Three Mark Elliott, Quincy Jones, Michael Strickland, Tamara Thomas LDR/531 January 13, 2013 Ronald Baker Team Week 3 Reflection The objectives of week three were to compare the barriers to effective communication and select one that the team agrees upon and provide real life example of the particular barrier. During the past week, we have learned that there are several barriers to communication and the barrier we believe that most of us have experienced first-hand is the barrier of communication apprehension. In this week’s readings it was identified that, communication apprehension affects 5 to 20 percent of the population, thus creating undue tension and anxiety in oral communication (Robbins & Judge, 2013). As a team we each will provide examples that we have experienced in the following paragraphs that relate to communication apprehension. Additionally, we will cover how we can overcome these effects and assist others with improving their oral communication. Mark’s Example Quincy’s Example Michael’s Example The example occurred when and group of four agents were combined with four managers to develop a plan of action for the lack of sales during a specific quarter. The managers would start the communication but wanted the input of these four agents as they developed the plan of action. One of the agents Troy was hesitant in speaking up and was not contributing to the team activity, and also was starting to fig it in...
