Technology Is Taking Over
Years ago, people were not yet introduced to technology. Now, people who live in the twenty-first century are more knowledgeable and updated when it comes to technology. The society depends on technology; whether a five year old kid, or a sixty-five years old citizen. Back in the days, not every household had a computer, or had technical knowledge. Currently, everything relies on technology from fashion, health, sports, and entertainments the new generation is getting used to technology in their daily lives. Clive Thompson describes in his article that “Clocks began to transform everyday life as early as the medieval period, when church bells sounded the hours, letting villagers know the pace of the day” (par. 5).Today, they invented a watch that contains everything a cellphone has. People don’t have to worry about using their cellphones at a wrong time; they can answer calls, read a text message, and reply to messages. Carter describes in his article that “In addition to answering phone calls, viewing messages and performing several other smartphone applications, it can theoretically perform everyday tasks such as making payments, accessing office buildings, controlling home lighting, heating and air-conditioning, as well as interfacing with car functions such as opening doors and remote starting” (par. 12). Apple is a popular and a known brand that produces all type of devices such as phones, iPad watches, and more. Recently, Apple watch became the most used device around the world. In order to be used, it has to be connected to an Apple cell phone. This type of technology never seems to last and stay. Wearable devices are known to be very expensive and not cheap to buy. People are willing to spend lots of money on products they want, to improve their lifestyles. However, they expect to receive a product with its best condition and have no flaws. Fitbit reviews were showing to have a positive feedback as mentioned in the article “Wearable Technology: Fad or Opportunity to Invest?”, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have any problems which can hesitate the buyer from buying them. As the author Carter mentions “Initial reviews have mostly been positive, but the product is not perfect, with no GPS, a lack of apps, weak fitness capabilities and short battery life” (par. 10). As shown in the article some might have short battery life, and that’s a huge problem. Costumers are mainly concerned about how long a battery lasts. No one wants a device with short battery life. On the other hand, Huge companies like, Nike and Jawbone will not stop manufacturing their products. There are an enormous percentage of people who won’t be very worried about a device with a short battery life. It all depend on peoples thinking, but lately what was proven in today’s time period, is that no matter what flaws a device might have, people are still willing to buy it. Companies might improve
