...“Go give it to him.” Remember the Titans was a movie about football, friendship, and family. When it comes to winning and you are down a touchdown or two; you always are going to do what’s best for the team. No matter what it takes you’re going whatever it takes to make sure your team succeeds. There are many things that go on with teams; whether it’s putting the team first in a sad time, coaches making stupid descions, and players questioning somebody who isn’t the head coach his judgment and authority There always come times where you have to put the team first. When one of T.C Williams star players got hurt; coach saw it as a bump in the road and he kept his focus on the very important game that was coming up. It was wrong of coach to keep...

...Do you think chavis should’ve been able to come back? I don’t because what he did hurt his coaches and teammates and it cost him to go to the youth pennatinry because he did drugs. But when he did come back he started off bad for example he started a fight with money and it caused money to walk out. He was suspended for fifteen months and he talked to coach bill every day to see if he could come back to the football team if he didn’t mess up again with the drugs and he didn’t use them any. He got in an argument with the assistant coaches and coach bill asked him what happen and he said nothing and kept walking away. The only reason the coaches let him return is so he could try to become a good person and try to do better with his life because...

...Heart Out Completion was in 2 weeks and it was crunch time. Our coach made us have practice almost every night. It was hard trying to juggle school and cheerleading, but I found a way to do it. Cheerleading is something I am very passionate about, and something I do all the time. If I am not cheering, I am in the gym working on my skills or making sure I stay fit for cheerleading. A lot of people say cheerleading is not a sport, but you know what I tell them, meet me on the mat and I will show you what’s up. Cheerleading is a very tough sport. We lift people the same weight as us, or sometimes the person can weigh more than you do. We don’t have shoulder pads and things to protect us like football players. So if you fall, someone falls on you, or if anything goes wrong you can get seriously injured. Can you see how serious it is yet? It was lunch time at school, and some of my teammates and I, would always meet in the court yard to practice the routine. All eyes would be on us and we would practice like we were on the competition floor. We sometimes even went one by one so we can see if anyone was making mistakes. Kiara was known for always messing up routines, and it was time for one by one. I went first, because I was confident that I knew my stuff. After I got done performing all the girls would be like “that was the bomb”, or “amazing!” Kiara of course would always try to find a way to get out of doing it by herself. “Kiara, it’s your turn”, I said. “Guys do I really...

...I am writing this letter of recommendation for Mr. Jason Kaminski. I have known Jason as an athlete for a year, in the Manistee Powerlifting program and two years as an assistant coach in our football program. Jason has served as our varsity line coach for both years. Over the last three years I have had the opportunity to know Jason as an athlete, coach and friend. I feel very confident that I can speak on his behalf in his pursuit of a head coaching position. The first words that describe Jason are dependable, dedicated and hardworking. He understands the meaning of doing a job right. He will never let you down, from being on time to doing what is asked of him. His ability to know what is right from wrong is tremendous. He will always...

...more likely to enjoy their job and be willing to give their best when they know well what is expected from work and receive feedback. Businesses also have to look into motivating employees through job design, goal setting, performance appraisals, and performance incentives. Let’s look first on how we can motivate and give feedback through job design. Employees usually quit or start lagging on their jobs for various reasons and in order to not get those results we motivate employees to come to work first. Employees should be given responsibilities, and if they have a repetitive task at work that needs to be performed those tasks need to be rotated by the manager. That employee could quit if he get bored of doing the same thing. But on the other side if the company has tasks identification, for example if a person works on fixing computers and has most of the experience on fixing the software, the company should have that person fixing the software what he likes doing and is best at. Not the keyboard or screen other employees that like and have the experience can do it. We also have to give them the opportunity of doing their own tasks in a different way, if they can think about an easier or faster way let them that’s a good way of letting the employees know they are appreciated, and if they don’t do something right we know what they need help on and can coach them. When I was trying to coach an employee at the clothing store I work at, I fist thought about if it made a difference...

...EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This is a report detailing the roles and responsibilities of a Career Coach translating into the importance of long term success of an organization. It studies the meaning of career and what it means to an individual. It also covers the importance of a career coach and how having a coach helps in the approach to reaching certain goals. The management of an organization should understand the benefits, a career coach can bring to its processes and to its employees. Coaching is a process that involves certain factors for it to be effective, such as having the right environment as well as how and where it can be utilized. This report explores all that and to also study one such coaching model known as the GROW model. I would like to take the term of Career Coach and take the two words apart and focus on ‘career’. Career is not to be confused with a job though most people cannot clearly define the two given its similarities and the loose manner in which people use them in daily conversations. A job is born out of necessity and in most cases, out of requirement due to financial reasons. It is something that people do by offering their skill or service in exchange for monetary payment. They may or may not like what they are doing and satisfaction is all the more, a secondary issue. On the other hand, a career is something or a view that most people would take towards a particular occupation in which they hope, would be long term.’ Career’ is a term that evolves...

...problems between students and their families. The Titans were a football team, but they were always losing the games, and win the championship was unreachable for them. So, the school board decide to get a new team coach, with the capabilities to turn the results around, and make them a team of winners. The problem was that when they discover that the new coach, Herman Boone, was black. From that day, he had to win the respect of the players that were both black and white, and get a new environment, to make them a united team, capable of overcome the differences and difficulties between the players. And to achieve that Coach Boone ask the previous coach, Coach Yoast, to help him doing that. In this film, is very well presented the example of a leader, and how the cultural differences shape the beliefs, attitudes, opinions, preferences and behaviours of those who lead and of the ones that made the choice to follow the coach. In this case despite of the difference race of the coach, almost all the players accepted him as the leader. We also could see that is not enough to have a leadership style in the way we talk or propose things to others, but the important thing is to get the respect of the followers and make them believe in the leader’s capacities. 1. What type of leadership traits (e.g., neuroticism, extraversion, openness...

... Sports Simulator I am currently coaching high potential baseball camps as well as am a head coach for travel teams in the Chicago land area. As a coach we are always trying to find new ways of relaying the information to the student in order for them to understand what they are doing right and more importantly how to fix the things they are doing wrong. You may know that sometimes when teaching at any level people learn different ways, but one of the most important ways is to see what you’re doing wrong and being able to compare it with someone who is doing things right. This is where the sports simulator comes in. The simulator helps students see what they are doing while comparing their athletic motion to one of their favorite players, now this is not just for baseball but can be for all sports. What we would do is design a program that has different professional athletes, say a pitcher for example, to have video taken of them throwing a baseball from the wind up and the stretch. Once we have these videos we can down load them into a data base which allows us to access them at any time. When we have a student that is trying to get better at pitching we can take a video of them and download it into the program. Once that is done the student can pick their favorite pitcher and put the two videos side by side and play them together to see the differences in mechanics and what the student can get better at. Even if their favorite pitcher is left handed and they throw right...

...forum 1: Challenging the process Please review this clip (approximately 10 minutes) from the film, Remember the Titans. Coach Boone (Denzel Washington), the new head coach of a recently integrated high school football team in Virginia, challenges his team to get to know fellow teammates of another race. Until they do, they will undergo increasingly intensive practices. Coach Boone was determined to use the “ challenge the process” practice to bring about change among his followers. In contrast to Coach Boone, for this post, scour the Internet and find an example of someone who “challenges the process,” but, according to Lencioni/Kouzes and Posner, uses the wrong approach. This can be based on a video, news article, magazine article, etc. Identify what this person is doing wrong and offer advice on how he or she can properly implement this leadership practice. Include a link to the web resource you are referencing in your post. 2) Discussion forum 2: Christians and Culture For this forum, select one (1) of the discussion topics below and respond in the Unit 3: Group Discussion 2 - Christians and Culture forum. a) Why we can’t change the world (?) Considering all you have read this week, thoughtfully interact with Crouch’s proposition in chapter 12, “Why we can’t change the world.” What is Crouch’s position? Do you agree or disagree with his position? Given what you have read so far, would Schmidt disagree with Crouch about the influence of Christianity in culture? Support your...

...the varsity football coach. The first time he would be able to get a look at all the sophomores moving up and give his input on what he thought would develop us into a varsity football player. I was sitting kind of in the back and he had gone through several players telling them what he thought and finally got to me asked my name and position I gave him my name and said “quarterback and defensive back” for my positions and he just looked at me for a second, almost looking right past me like I wasn‘t going to be able to contribute anything the team and said “You need to get in the weight room and get bigger and stronger. You’ll never physically make it through a varsity football season at your size.” I don’t know how this would make other people feel, but I am not the kind of person who likes to be told that I can’t do something for any reason, especially because I’m not big or strong enough. By that statement, my coach lit a fire inside me and made me angry. The next Monday after the meeting with coach I was in the weight room working out, going at least three days a week and continued to do so throughout the school year and even through the summer. Me, not being the strongest kid ever, there were a couple players who were approaching their senior season who started working out with me, which for them was more like helping me out. I gained their respect and really started to look up to them and still do to this day. I worked out with them everyday doing everything they told...

...is my high school football coach. He hasn’t changed how he’s done things on the and off the field. It amazes me that he has the mental fortitude to do what he says he’s going to every time well most of the time. My sophomore year I was a true child on the football field and in school. I would talk back to coaches and would not listen and be coachable if I could go back and try things his way at first instead of all the arguing I would. A then coach came into my life. He always talked about doing the little things right then everything else would fall in place. I didn’t believe a word of it then I start having trouble in the classroom and in the home coach hears about it and comes to me sits me down and we have a little talk. He is a very honest man and doesn’t sugar coat it. Tells me what I’m doing is wrong and I need to change my ways. I tell him I don’t know how he tells me the same thing about doing things right and being a little more accountable. Ask me to just try things his way and the worst thing that could happen is I end up right back where I was at that point which was not good. So I listen I start doing things the right way and make some better choices and my life starts to improve I star becoming a little bit of a leader myself. Next thing I know I end being a captain of the football team which I thought would never happen because of how I used to think. But when somebody you see every day doing the right thing long it kind...

...read on becoming a great leader. It is a must read for all the coaches and administrators or any one that has a leadership role. It is the story of a successful high school coach who suddenly finds his players are losing their drive to win. When Coach appeals to a successful CEO friend, he gets advice that doesn’t seem to help at all. However, talking to the school janitor, Joe Taylor, he gets some ideas of what the guys are missing: leadership, the love for their teammates, the will to win, and their former passion for the game. When he learns that one of his players’ parents were divorcing and he brushed it off, appearing not to care, he realized he was failing his players....

...My coaching philosophy is laid back for sure. I believe that being a tough coach is not the way to go. I believe this because most players will not respond well to hard coaching especially in golf. Golf is all about fundamentals and staying positive. So as a golf coach I would focus on getting to know my players and making sure they are staying positive and constantly working on fundamentals and how to fix their mistakes in all sorts of positions. My practice would consist of some range time but I have found from experience that playing 9 or 18 holes a day will better players for matches. I think this because on the range you can’t really get a good experience playing the game it’s more for working on your swing and fixing bigger mistakes,...
