...AND HUMANITIES CREATIVE WRITING EN1109 ACTIVITY # 1 NAME: MARIA NEÑA N. REYES | Date: | COURSE AND YEAR: LLB – 4TH | Class Schedule: | THE NATURE OF WRITING PROCESS Writing is considered as a complex process that allows writers to explore thoughts and ideas. Concretization of sentences is an important part of the writing just like laying the foundation for a house construction. When thoughts and ideas are written down, they can always be read and re-written, revised, edited, examined, rearranged and changed. The writer must first “think” in the language that he or she is writing. The beginning writing may appear a waterloo. Much of Annie Dillard works have been about the writing process, but she says that “Writing is a hard, conscious, terribly frustrating world!” Considerations according to some differences between Technical and Creative Writing: | Technical Writing | Creative Writing | Content | factual, straight forward | imaginative, metaphoric or symbolic | Audience | specific | general | Purpose | inform, instruct, persuade | entertain, provoke, captivate | Style | formal, standard, academic | informal, artistic, figurative | Tone | Objective | subjective | Vocabulary | specialized | general, evocative | Organization | sequential, systematic | arbitrary, artistic | On Creative Process: Gemino H. Abad gave the following important aspects of creativity: 1. The creative process is not a continuing development or a method but rather what we call an “outbreak”...

...Senior Writing Project-Reflective Essay As I look back at the writings I have created in these past few years, I realize that other than my junior year, I haven't written any narrative pieces, in any classes. The focus throughout my high school curriculum has been toward argumentative, analysis, and informative writings. Only in my junior year did I write my first creative writings in the form of a short story and a poem. The first creative writing I had to write a "Vomit" Draft. A vomit draft was the very first draft of a paper with little to no guidelines. "Bring two minutes to life" was the only instruction. We had to throw down 500 words without paying any real attention to punctuation or grammar. This kind of freedom associated with such creative writing was an alien concept to me. Getting used to writing without a structure that we had to follow, without a set of guidelines we had to abide by took a while. But, this kind of writing really helped me learn and improve, not just my writings, my organization and my time management skills as well. Knowing that I had to write such a demanding paper (it turned out to be fourteen pages longs), I had to improve my time management skills, which, up till junior year, hadn’t really been a challenge. Forcing myself then, to distribute time wisely has really helped me now, with the terrific pressures and burdens of college applications. This creative writing segment in my junior year helped my prepare, in a way, for these college...

...and books, but the career of writing is a lot more than that. The career field of writing can be separated into two major groups, one writing what they want to write and hope they get buyers, the other works for employers or clients and write on subjects their employer wants (Overview par 2). No matter what kind of writer they are, they all use the same basic steps to create their project. The writer gathers information, sometimes interpreting complex events or information (Overview par 3). Writers review their own work multiple times to make sure what they are saying makes sense, and to see if there is anything they want to change. Many have editors or peers that read and comment...

...a computer programmer turned creative writer through a chance encounter with a blind poet. I just had to know the answer to the question that almost sounds like the beginning of a riddle. “How did the blind teacher teach creative writing?” I soon learned the answer, “It was with an amazing amount of passion!” I just had to find out how someone’s love of computer programing could morph into a true passion for writing. In Mr. Uptmore ’s case, this transformation occurred in his third year of college. When I entered his classroom, which is where he spends most of his time,...

...Your Elusive Creative Genius Ernest Tyler PHL\458 October 20, 2014 Mr. Charles Crenshaw Your Elusive Creative Genius In February 2009 Elizabeth Gilbert presented a speech to a TED Talk audience in Long Beach California (Elizabeth Gilbert: Your elusive creative genius, 2009). Elizabeth Gilbert is an American author from Waterbury, Connecticut. She has wrote several articles for magazines such as Spin, GQ and The New York Times Magazine. She has also wrote several books and she is best known for writing “Eat, Pray, Love” in 2006 (River Net Computers, 2013). The speech was titled “Your Elusive Creative Genius” (Elizabeth Gilbert: Your elusive creative genius, 2009). Elizabeth talked about how artist and entertainers (creative people) are prone to suicide and the stereotype that is associated with them (Elizabeth Gilbert: Your elusive creative genius, 2009). In ancient Greece and ancient Rome creative people were not actually considered to be creative, but instead had divine attendant spirits (Elizabeth Gilbert: Your elusive creative genius, 2009). Eventually, society stopped looking at creativity as a divine spirit and instead started looking at the individual as the creative entity (Elizabeth Gilbert: Your elusive creative genius, 2009). Elizabeth states how she believes this to be the worst thing to ever happen to creative people, because now their egos and expectations will be over inflated (Elizabeth Gilbert: Your elusive creative genius, 2009)....

...My writing has changed a lot throughout the years, but this year I feel I have made the most progression. I went from not being able to finish a short story to being able to finish one with a well-developed plot. While I am very happy about my development in writing short stories I am most proud of my growth in writing poetry and dramatic writing. But it hasn’t always come naturally. It has involved a lot work on my part too. As expected, my writing quality in sixth grade was very different than what it is now. I used to write to tell an epic tale of mystery and hardship, which doesn’t sound so bad, but there was always one major flaw in all of my writings. Plot. None of my writings had a developed plot before I jumped right into the story. I would go with the flow and write what sounded good, which works to an extent, but without a plot my story was going nowhere. It was just one epic exposition, no climax, no resolution. Eventually I would get tired of a story and just...

...RUNNING HEAD: TEN SIMPLE RULES FOR WRITING RESEARCH PAPER Rules for Writing a Research Paper Gwendolyn Burnett Webster University Gern: 5690 Dr. Gray Graves December 07, 2014 Abstract Most everything that has to be done and done right follows some type of procedure, guideline or rule. This holds true in writing research papers as well. There are rules for writing research papers, Zhang focus on ten of those rules: This paper will emphasize on the process that guides writers to writing professional and successful papers. Good research is vital to writing a good paper. This process will include the attitude of the writer and the principles he/she should uphold to establish the foundation of a well written research paper (Zhang, 2014). Writing should have a” driving force where research and writing are paired; less is more, less paper but more information with more meaning, you should know your audience, the paper needs to make sense have logic, a research’s cornerstone is a complete paper, the paper should be to the point (concise) yet simple, use a thesaurus to keep the paper from being boring and present a creative paper, format paper correctly, your attitude towards your paper is important be honest with yourself, is the paper a good job, revise over and over and over again, or you ready to test your paper by the opinions of others, be ready to accept constructive criticism, confer with others on your work, don’t get personal with their opinions...

...long-term professional objective of my career, I look forward upon the completion of my studies with admirable grades. My long –term professional objective of creating security within the information technology sector coincides with my goal for this writing course. In development of computer programs, there is a lot of creativity that is required just like what is highlighted in most writing courses. Personal writing experience in comparison to the process approach I have handled writing in my previous experiences. This has involved writing of term papers and assignments. In this form of writing, I noticed that what is required is objectivity. In such forms of writing, one is supposed to concentrate on facts that exist in theories and concepts. Unless it is asked by the tutor, writers of such papers are supposed to be objective. I found that this form of writing to be so rigid because one is not supposed to give his personal views. Considering that computer science is based on most scientific calculations and facts, it therefore becomes difficult for one to include personal creative views about a particular subject in discussion. The process approach that recommends that people plan, gather information, write a draft and edit before writing a final draft is more interesting. This is because it has certain...

...What is Your Writing Process Like? As a writer I love making stories and there are many steps to go through before the story becomes a fluent piece of literature. My writing process isn’t very complicated, when I write I let out all my ideas. I let my creative side come out and write out everything that crosses my mind, it doesn’t matter if it comes together right away I just let my creative side take control. My mind goes through many steps when I write I have to think of what kind of story I want to write and what the story will mean to me, then I have to brainstorm and type out some main parts for my story, lastly I organize everything to make an actual story. In story writing I have to find something to write about and to write your story...

...This goes for writing as well. Most of us are not born great writers. It takes failure, after failure, after failure and a few triumphs along the way. It takes analyzing piece after another in order to find your strengths and weaknesses in writing. These things are essential in order to know who you are as a writer. As of right now I am not a very big fan of writing, especially compared to the writer that I used to be. I let my writing ability dwindle. This partly is due to the death that recently occurred in my family. My Uncle Primo, a great influence on my writing, took his life a month and a half ago. This loss took away my passion for writing. Often times I would text my uncle and share my pieces, anxious about the feedback I waited to come. The fact that I couldn’t hear his input on the thoughts I jotted down killed me softly, and I just have not had the desire to write the way I used to ever since. Writing is something that always interested me, even as a child. Ever since I was a little kid, I was apparently very skilled in telling the most outrageous fibs. I guess because of my vivid imagination, my dad told me I would be a great writer one day. He probably said it to be funny, but as a little kid any words from my parents were equivalent to the Bill of Rights in my eyes. In the past I often found myself writing frequently.Whether it be on a rainy day or a day full of sunshine accompanied by beautiful breeze, I was somewhere in the background writing. I often wrote...

...“ why essay writing is hard ?” For many people writing is frustrating and many students have trouble writing anything. Sometimes students take extra lessons to just be a good. We all know how boring writing an essay can be and how hard to make a good one. In this essay I will talk about the difficulties we face while writing essays. The main reason that makes writing hard is that we focus on the external rewards like getting A or just to get the professor’s approval , and when you focus on getting these things your brain stops being creative and come up with ideas so that’s why it becomes boring . However that means when you are trying to write a perfect essay but in the same time thinking of getting an A , that will make you stop being creative in writing . Another good reason is lack of focus. Many students when they start writing ,their mind starts thinking about a lot of information . After that they forget about writing and start to think about their life or something happened to them in the past , so when they go back to writing they forget everything and they delete what they wrote to start again. Beside its being lack of focus it’s a waste of time too. The last reason is a bad environment. Some people love writing in a specific place in their room , they think their creative ideas are born there , and some people can’t just bring a pen and a paper to write because they are used to write in their computer . Others can write when its quiet, loud, or at any time of...

...Creative Process Michael May PHL/458 June 5, 2013 John Smith Creative Process The creative process is one that people use every day, (Passive voice – suggest “People use the creative process every day, “) whether they realize it or not. The creative process includes four stages: searching for challenges, expressing the problem or issue, investigating the problem or issue, and then producing ideas (Ruggiero, V. R. (2009). (Repeated error – do not include author initials or first names with in-text citations – use “(Ruggiero, 2009)”. In personal experience, I have noticed that I used the creative process while trying to improve conditions at the various places in which I was (word tense – use “have been”) employed. A big thing at Gateway Cold Storage was that the pick path, or the way in which products were arranged on the warehouse floor was not conducive in creating a path that was conducive to generating speed and getting more items loaded in a more efficient manner. (some informal language, vague pronouns, missing commas, and passive voice – try “At Gateway Cold Storage, the pick path, or how products are arranged on the warehouse floor, was not conductive. A quicker and more efficient system for loading items was needed.”) Searching for challenges would be to (passive voice – try “involves”) going out and looking for ways to improve the way you live life. The book states that the first stage of the creative process represents the habit of searching for challenges...

...As an undergraduate, I tailored an education combining English, creative writing, theater, and consciousness and transformation to satisfy my different interests, and they all managed to complement my goals in education. As a right fit for Mason, I will represent the value of innovation during my studies and well into my career. I will approach education from a background of academic rigor and strength, but also from well-being and consciousness practices. A highlight of joining the Secondary Education program would be working under the guidance of Dr. Kristien Zenkov. I believe that his work on the “Through Students' Eyes” project is a great representation of how academic rigor and well-being come together. This is the kind of work that I hope to do in the future. I am confident that only George Mason University...
