Who Is Ingeborg's Wahl Family To Migrate To America?

Ingeborg was the second member of this Wahl family to immigrate to America. She was the sixth child of Anders Larsen and Berthe Syversdatter Wahl. She was born, 23 September 1855, at Hvaleie in Gran. In 1865, Ingeborg was residing with her parents, and younger siblings, at Ulverud (under Hval). Just like her older siblings had done, Ingeborg probably worked outside of the home once she was old enough. In 1875, she was employed at the North Bratvold farm in Jevnaker. There she was worked as a servant. It’s important to note here, that the North Bratvold farm was located just west of the Braaten farm where, Ingeborg’s older sister Anne Maria worked that same year.

Peder left Norway from Oslo, 31 August 1877, also aboard the S/S Angelo. In Liverpool, England, he transferred to the S/S City of Chester. The City of Chester arrived in the port of New York (Castle Garden), 15 September 1877. He indicated that he was headed for Monroe, Green County, Wisconsin.
Even though, Peder indicated Monroe as his final destination, he was probably traveling to the neighboring Lafayette County. Peder’s brother, Anders, and several other relatives had settled there years earlier. Lafayette County was also an area highly populated by immigrants from Hadeland.
By 1880, Peder had acquired employment as a tinsmith. He was more than likely working as an apprentice with Herman and Hermana Lund, in Blachardville, Lafayette County. They were also Norwegian immigrants.
