As of right now, I have an undeclared major, although, I think I have narrowed down what I want my field of study to be which is something in the science field. I wanted to take time to focus on myself and figure out what it is I want to do in life. I did not want to rush into a major where I was not able to fully enjoy it. I think the reason why I decided to narrow my field of study to the science realm is because the general idea of science has interested me ever since 9th grade. My current future goal is to obtain a Bachelor's Degree and to find a job that allows me to help someone in any way possible. I think with science being my field of study that will allow me to help someone, even if it is in simplest way, after I earn my bachelors. In addition to taking an interest in science, but I have found …show more content…
In my senior year, I took a multimedia and webpage design class and I really enjoyed it. As far as involvement in activities and clubs, I joined the school’s international club and history club in 11th grade. Furthermore, I was also inducted into the National Honor Society, BETA Club, and Mu Alpha Theta in my junior year as well. Sports wise, I played for my school’s women’s soccer team freshman year.
In reference to the scholarship itself, obviously, if I were to receive this scholarship, it would help me out a great deal financially and ease part of the stress of how I am going to afford going to college. When that section of my mind is at somewhat at ease, I feel as though I would be more focused on the education that I am receiving rather than how much said education is going to cost. I then will able to prioritize my

Was Germany Responsible For World War 1 Research Paper

...beginning of the war, but one could also argue that Germany was only partially responsible, and that there are other countries to blame as well. In this essay I will be discussing whether Germany was solely responsible for the outbreak of the war or if there were other factors that we should take into account. Firstly I will be talking about why the war started in the first place, or at least why it is said to have started. Most people believe that it was the assassination of Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand that really pushed Austria-Hungary off the edge. After the failed ultimatum, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. As Serbia was allied with Russia, Russia joined in on the war. But because of the triple-Entente, France and England had to join in as well. Germany was also pulled in as they had promised to back up Austria. Because of all this, I think that the assassination of Franz Ferdinand was what really started the war....

Personal Narrative: Walla University

...It is now the end of my first official quarter in college. I could act as if I now know what I am doing and say that I am an expert at college survival, but I am not. I walked into this experience with a countless amount of questions and three months into it they seem only to have multiplied. This first quarter of college has been a learning experience in the form of a brutal awakening. The revelation of truth behind college relationships, studies, and growth has ignited a change that I hope will benefit me in years to come. A significant part of the reason for my picking Walla Walla University was that I already had a stable friend group on campus. I knew that I was social enough to make friends regardless of the college I attended, but only Walla Walla could offer me a backup plan. I had...

Essay About Success

...I once read a book about three women who grew up together as children. They separated after high school, each choosing their own paths in life. One got married and became a housewife, one became a doctor, and one decided to join the Peace Corps. Each woman had found her own niche in life and was happy. They each, in their own eyes, had what is called, success. Success means achievement, accomplishment, victory, and triumph. The dictionary states that success is “The achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted; the gaining of fame or prosperity” (The Dictionary.com n.pag.) and “The favorable or prosperous termination of anything attempted; the attainment of a proposed object; prosperous issue” (Hypertext Webster Gateway n.pag.). These are just dictionary definitions, though. One needs examples and instances in order to fully understand the meaning of success. Our Service Can Write a Custom Essay on Success for You! Over the years, many people have viewed success as the gaining of fame and fortune. While this is true, success encompasses all kinds of prosperity. Fame and fortune is just one form. The reason why most people view fame and fortune as the prototype of success is because these two things usually come to people who have worked long and hard. For the most part, in order to be and feel successful, one needs to have worked at it. Bob Brown once declared, “Behind every successful man there's a lot of unsuccessful years” (Cyber Quotations n.pag.). Colin...

Why Was the South Segregated in 1950

...Why was the South segregated in 1950 After the civil war the South introduced laws, which were called Jim Crow laws. These laws forced segregation of the blacks in the South. With the start of segregation of blacks the civil right movement started. The peak of segregation was during 1950s. The South promoted segregation with saying that the segregate but the facilities, which the blacks had to use were equal. This was a big lie. In this essay I try to explain the major reasons why there was segregation in the South during the 1950s. Before the American Civil War the South had a big plantation economy, where they planted rice, sugar, cotton, tabacco and the major plantation economy in the South, sugar. The plantation economy was the biggest economy in the South due to the climate and it was the closest point to Africa from the New World called USA. The short distance to Africa pushed Slavery in the USA. All the owners of the plantation had African slaves who worked for them. This changed after the Civil War when Slavery got abolished and therefore the plantation economy ended. The plantation economy ended because the whites believed that this was only a job for blacks. As I mentioned earlier was the plantation economy the biggest economy in the South but when Slavery ended the South got poor, farming rural area. Moreover the South believed in the supremacy of the white race and they were in fear when slavery ended that this system could get mixed up therefor the South...

Marijuana Public Policy

...Public Policy Essay Marijuana is a drug that, with responsibility, can be used and enjoyed without threat to the user or society and should be legalized not only for this reason, but also for the many positive economic, political, and societal impacts that legalization would bring. My public policy paper will be discussing the legalization of cannabis for recreational and medicinal use, along with the benefits and reasons for doing so. Despite its legalization around the globe and now in some parts of the country, marijuana is still often regarded with a negative view by many and possession or use can result in extreme criminal consequences. This negative view is often caused by irresponsible users and teenage angst. It is such a shame that...

...Frederick Jackson Turner is most successful at analyzing American history through his essay, “The Significance of the Frontier in American History”. This piece examines how life was first created here in America, as well as how the first frontier set the stage for numerous civilization advancements that would occur in the near future. Many Americans today seem to forget about the first settlements that served as the basis for what the United States of America has become. This essay accomplishes the goal of reminding those people of how majorly important each step was on the American frontier centuries ago. What was once just an enormous area of free, unoccupied land, is now the home of billions of people as well as numerous buildings, businesses, and modes of transportation....

Boston Massacre Research Paper

...was a very tragic event that happened on March 5, 1770. It is a very important part of our history today. The Boston massacre was about the colonists and british throwing and firing things at each other, because the colonists started the event by breaking away from England and throwing objects at the British soldiers, and the British soldiers took it seriously and thought that they were declared to fight back. I think that the Boston Massacre happened as an accident. I believe this because the Boston soldiers were probably thinking the colonists were being cruel and wanting to actually start a war. One of the reasons that makes me believe that the Boston massacre was an accident is because the british soldiers thought that when they heard “Fire! Fire! Fire!” it was their captain and so they started firing guns and throwing snowballs like it says in one of the sources. Also the colonists had no idea that the british soldiers would fire guns and throw snowballs back at them or they never would’ve thrown sticks, rocks, snowballs ,or clubs at the British soldiers in the first place. I think the colonists got killed by an accident because the British soldiers used their instincts and fought back at the colonists before the colonists killed them before they...

Ap Language Terms

...Terms – AP English Language and Composition These terms should be of use to you in answering the multiple-choice questions, analyzing prose passages, and composing your essays. allegory – The device of using character and/or story elements symbolically to represent an abstraction in addition to the literal meaning. In some allegories, for example, an author may intend the characters to personify an abstraction like hope or freedom. The allegorical meaning usually deals with moral truth or a generalization about human existence. alliteration – The repetition of sounds, especially initial consonant sounds in two or more neighboring words (as in “she sells sea shells”). Although the term is not frequently in the multiple choice section, you can look for alliteration in any essay passage. The repetition can reinforce meaning, unify ideas, supply a musical sound, and/or echo the sense of the passage. allusion – A direct or indirect reference to something which is presumably commonly known, such as an event, book, myth, place, or work of art. Allusions can be historical, literary, religious, topical, or mythical. The Jim Crow Era

...Midterm Essay on Jim Crow Laws Brittney Accardo History 12 May 8th, 2015 The year 1896 was the time that the Untied States of America came down as a whole. Many people were hurt and confused by the Jim Crow laws. These laws were established in order or keep the blacks and whites separated in public places. Jim Crow laws made a huge impact on society in the 1930’s. On May 18, 1896, the U.S. Supreme Court considered the idea of “separate but equal,” which was the base of the Jim Crow laws. This was the case of the Plessy versus Ferguson. The United States Constitution did not allow many types of discrimination such as black people being mistreated. Therefore, the states worked around the rules to include Jim Crow laws without disobeying the United States Constitution. This made African Americans considered as the “lower class” citizens. Many people were judging the blacks because of their skin; they were not respected as human beings. Some of the Jim Crow Laws (Black Code) were very extreme; the laws were so strict it was almost like the African American people were still in slavery. However, some would...

Pro Gay Marriages

...now, it would probably deduce results showing every other person harping on the importance and necessity of equal rights for both. People would not give it a second thought talking about education, medical, housing or employment rights. They would stress on the fact that homosexuals must also get equal protection of the law and government benefits as compared to heterosexuals. Everything asked will have a favorable response till you reach the point where you talk about gay marriages. That is the instance where they stop to think, where they have opinions, where equality dies and rights is just another term. This gives rise to the question of why do people who passionately support gay rights take a u-turn, and oppose gay marriages with the same passion. The purpose of this essay is to understand why same sex marriages are opposed and to debate whether marriage between homosexuals should be legalized. Before going any further, it is important to define gay marriage. In simple words, gay marriage is between two people of the same sex. It has been given legal status in different parts of the world such as Denmark, Spain, Canada, Norway, Sweden and South Africa. However, one of the greatest advocates of human rights, the United States of America at large does not accept same sex marriage legally. A few states such as New Hampshire, Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, Vermont and Washington, D.C of the United States of America have legalized homosexual...

Conflict in South East Asia

...Within cooperation, there will always be conflicts and vice versa. In this essay, I will be looking at how conflict plays a more significant role and more is impactful in South East Asia (SEA) compared to cooperation. Conflict is a state of disharmony between two or more parties of ideas or interests. In the context of this essay, conflict occurs when there is a disagreement such as different views, clashes of interest and different views on ideology between the countries. While there is an inevitable fact that cooperation exists within SEA, the impacts that conflicts leave on the history of the region is far more significant than those of cooperation. In the next few paragraphs, I will be going in depth into how conflict has left a deeper indentation on the history as well as more current affairs of SEA. Some countries have conflicts with other in their history, before they learn from their mistakes and work together to reach the level of agreement they have now, such as Indonesia and Malaysia. One major conflict between them is the Konfrontasi, where Indonesia had carried out attacks on Malaysia and there was high tension between these two countries. In December 1962, a revolt had broken out in Brunei to oppose Brunei from joining the Federation, and instead proposed a separate union of Brunei, Sarawak and Sabah (Borneo territories). This revolt had fitted Sukarno’s (former Indonesia’s president) beliefs that independence should only be gained through revolutionary struggle...
