The dream of becoming an elementary educator is one that I have wished to pursue for my entire high school career. At Iowa State University, I expect to follow my intended goal and make a difference in students lives. Experiences such as teacher assistant, babysitting, and becoming a student mentor have pushed me into choosing to work towards a bachelors degree in elementary education. Through these experiences; I have learned to help students with homework, literacy, manners, and patience. I enjoy helping students, whether it’s with homework or zipping up a coat; from these experiences I made the decision to pursue a degree in elementary education. The elementary teacher I assisted was a great inspiration to me. Her ability to keep a classroom under control and create a fun environment led me to decide that someday I would like my own classroom. I know that when I walk…show more content… I believe that some of my qualities such as leadership, commitment, and creativity will contribute to the classroom greatly. My main goal in elementary education, is to make classrooms fun but also professional and set students up for success. I wish to help students identify their struggle areas and help them improve math and literacy scores. I would provide a safe setting in the classroom where every student feels protected. Additionally, I would like to be an inspiration to students in discovering who they are becoming. Students should look up to me for motivation and encouragement. While pursuing a career in Elementary Education, I hope to feel comfortable enough to ask fellow teachers for advice or assistance. I feel that I can learn as a teacher from the students, just as much as they learn from me. Most importantly, I hope to gain the trust of my students and their parents. I want parents to feel content knowing that their child is striving in the classroom and that the student is ready for whatever challenge they face
