...Santa’s Secret Beata Balla Florida Institute of Technology Abstract Secret Santa is a game that many people played growing up and some still play among friends, family, and in the workplace. This paper explains the secret Santa game and more importantly reveals true personalities, values, and behaviors of others in a group like setting. The purpose of this game is to essentially discover how far people will go to find out whom the secret Santa is in each group and how beneficial or worthy the rewards are for those individuals who go to great lengths to either manipulate each other or stay true to other team members. Individual personality differences are highlighted and explained as the game unfolds and teams are evaluated for their ability to stay faithful to their team members. Santa’s Secret Purpose of the Secret Santa Game I work in a hospital where we have holiday gatherings and parties every year. Nurses and other healthcare professionals traditionally take part in the secret Santa game and buy gifts for each other. Because the holidays are quickly approaching, I decided to devise a game based on the prisoner’s dilemma called Santa’s secret. There are four individuals in each team with a total of three teams, one for each shift-morning, evening, and night shift. One person from each team is the designated “secret Santa” in which their role is to think of a gift to buy for the other team. The members of a team all know who their own secret Santa is but do not...

Secrecy is necessary in Romeo and Juliet because revealing secrets could lead to disastrous consequences. As previously stated, secrecy is sometimes necessary. ...Running head: THE SIX SECRETS OF CHANGE, MICHAEL FULLAN 1 Book Review of The Six Secrets of Change: What the Best Leaders Do to Help Their Organizations Survive and Thrive, by Michael Fullan Managing Conflict and Change THE SIX SECRETS OF CHANGE, MICHAEL FULLAN 2 Abstract Do not use this book if you want to change one area of your organization. This book was written and designed for organizations needing large scale reform. (However, it is mentioned in the book that some organizations have tried to implement parts of this plan.) The secrets proposed in this book were collected during an extensive change to a large education system, but have been tested in many large, complex organizations, both private and public. Do not take these steps at face value. These steps are meant to be engaged at the same time, all the time. It becomes the new culture of the organization. This book can be difficult to read at times. It is overloaded with references to other books, authors, stories, etc. and cited. If the reader does not have knowledge of these it can interrupt the flow of the book. The author does show a bit of a sense of humor throughout the book. The steps themselves and the descriptions were easy to understand...

...Allison Morein BA 446 November 27, 2013 Mr. Drell Intellectual Property Since the beginning of time people have put their knowledge and creative to use to design all sorts of products. Since then, the creators have worked to protect their creations and ideas from others who want to take them. Creators have gone to great measures to protect their works. One famous, extreme case of this is of Shah Jahan, the emperor who built the Taj Mahal. Folklore has it that the emperor had the hands of his craftsmen cut off so that they could never create another monument such as that one. In today’s world we have laws to protect all types of intellectual property. Intellectual property is divided into four parts: patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. A patent is defined as a government authority to an individual or organization conferring right or title, especially the sole right to make, use, or sell some invention. It grants property rights on inventions and excludes those other than the patent holder from making, selling, or using the invention. There are three types of patents: utility, design, and plant. A utility paten is the most common type and covers any process, machine, article of manufacture, or composition of matter. A design patent covers any new, original, and ornamental design for an article of manufacture. A plant patent covers any new variety of asexually produced plant. A design patent lasts 14 years while a utility or plant patent lasts 20 years...

...must understand the classification types of information that is within the military branch of services. Those classifications are as follows: unclassified, official, restricted, confidential, secret and top secret. Every country has the same levels of confidentiality levels for their specific types of information. And those specific types are usually restricted, confidential, secret and top secret. Depending on your rank and your specific job within the military you will need to get a security clearance to be able to even view certain levels of information that flows through the military. A clearance is the military’s way of checking your background and your history very thoroughly to ensure that you don’t have anything in your background that the enemy could use to get you to divulge and information that they deem necessary to destroy us. For example, let’s say that you have a top secret clearance and you work for the department of defense’s special weapons division and you are overseas and you decide to unwind and have a few drinks with fellow workers in the same division that you work in and all of you are at a bar. You do not realize that you are talking very loud and other people start to hear everything that you are talking about. So they decide to send a woman to you to start to work you for little bits of information and over time they find out enough information to bury you and they decide to blackmail you to keep giving them information about what you are working on or...

...| How to Protect Trade Secrets in the Workplace | Business Law Research Paper | Anthony Arrieta 11-27-2015 | Trade secrets First let’s address what a “trade secret” is. It is very hard to get an exact definition of what these are but trade secrets have characteristics which most state statutes or common law recognize. They are: * Secrecy * Security * The value of the Information, and * Ease of Duplication A customer list is a classic example of information that might be considered a trade secret. The list, by itself, would probably not be a protected trade secret. It could only be protected if the customer list is not “readily ascertainable” from sources outside the particular company. For example, a list of customers revealing their monthly purchases would more likely constitute a trade secret. The mere listing of customer names and addresses which could be obtained from a telephone book, would probably not constitute a protected trade secret. Protecting trade secrets in the workplace is a very important part of running a successful business. Keeping parts of your business secret will differentiate you from the rest of your competitors and if you are succeeding in the industry it will keep you at the top of the industry. Successful companies stay on the top because they protect their most valuable information. Companies like Coca-Cola have protected their “secret” formula for 125 years (Coca-Cola, 2015). This is not the only reason that...

...Leadership Philosophy: Victoria’s Secret Victoria’s Secret (VS) is an American retailer of women’s wear from lingerie to beauty products. I chose this company for many reasons, one being that I purchase items from this company on a frequent occasion, and the others because they are just a brilliant corporation. Victoria’s Secret was started out in San Fransisco, 1977 by a man named Roy Raymond, who felt embarrassed trying to purchase lingerie for his wife in a department store environment. The store was meant to create a comfortable setting for men. In 1982, after five years of operation, Roy Raymond sold the Victoria’s Secret company , with its six stores grossing six million per year to , Leslie Wexner, creator of The Limited, for four million. Victoria’s Secret started to rapidly expand into malls throughout the U.S. By 1990, it became the largest American lingerie retailer topping one billion dollars. By 1995, Victoria’s Secret began to market their company by holding a lavish event called the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which broadcasted on pimetime television for America to watch. On July 2007, Limited Brands sold 75% of their chain to Sun Capital Partners to boost up VS stores and Bath and Body Works units, which provided 72% of revenue in 2006 and almost all the firm’s profit. With such a widespread operation, there is an obvious need for employees to help the company achieve goals. Victoria’s Secret careers not only focus on helping the company earn profits...
