Being a good employee is essential in today’s world, especially in these tough economic times when there are many seeking work. Consequently, it is important to keep in mind that no employee is irreplaceable. While hearing many complain these days their job, one just needs to look around and be appreciative that they have the means in which to survive and are able to work. You need to have the ability to have control over your faults and be a professional. Staying cool and calm under any situation that my arise. One trait that is essential is caring about your occupation and your company. In other words, treat your place of business as if it were your own. This involves have the motivation and passion that moves you forward. Employers will see when you take your career seriously and have a take charge attitude. Your attitude is one of the most important trait in the work environment. You need to work well with others and be a team player. Being understanding and tolerant of your coworkers is crucial. This requires being flexible both mentally and physically. Good communication is indispensable in any organization. It is also the connection between all levels of individuals. Proficient communication can be reinforced in practically every workplace and community. Communication includes many different forms of language. One aspect of communication is oral speech, it is by far one of the most valuable skills we cultivate. To be an effective communicator one must be able to convey thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely. A second communication skill is body language, this is a very individual way of expressing yourself without words. One's body language can express ten times what words can convey . Motivation is a factor that is highly dependent upon personality and because of this, managers must be able to recognize and respond to the different traits. Personality has been studied extensively throughout the years and researchers have found five distinct personality traits that are most relevant to organization; agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, extraversion and openness.
