When I was in Form Four student at Glory High School, I make a lot of friends since all of the students in my batch came from different schools. Luckily, I was the first intake students. So, the stories begin when the second intake students came. She was my roommate. At first, sincerely, I was not like her. I do not know why. As the day passes, our relationship get better because of the problems that we had were same. “We will have a good relationship with the person that had the same problem that we had”. With those problems, two of us, endured and solved it together.
For me, she is a wonderful person. In the period of our friendship, there were a lot of things that I know about her. Knowing her was the best part of my life. Until the end of year, I know that she had an anemia. At the same time, she also had a hypothyroidism. I know it is so hard for her but she is strong. She can endure her diseases until the end. That is so amazing. I could not imagine if I was on her shoes, can I become strong like her?
After knowing that she had those two diseases, my roommate and I really cared about her. Every day, she will show the symptoms of the diseases. One day, she was really surprised me when she asked, “Who is she?” while her finger pointed to one of our roommate. She was easily fatigue. When the rain starts to fall, I will seek for her because I know that she cannot stand in the cold condition. It is really hard for me to see her endure the pain. Due to her depression condition, her examination result was really bad.
In consequence of that situation, her family decided to get her back home and quit from that school. So that, she can does her check up every week without any difficulty. Her disappearance really made me miserable. I must accept that because it is for her good. Until now, she is still strong like before even though sometime she complained about

Fairy Tale Essay

...December 2013 The Wonderful Wizard of Oz A fairy tale is a kind of folklore or fable that has magical elements within the story, exhibited through the characters or the sequence of events. Fairytales contain magical elements that could include wizards, monsters, talking animals, or even magical helpers. Not only do fairytales contain character archetypes, but they also include situational archetypes such as quests, impossible tasks, or the triumphs of the poor. Although all fairytales have different plots, they are all extremely similar to each other due to the common motifs and archetypes that are present in all fairytale stories. To determine whether a story is a fairytale or not is incredibly easy because one can easily discover numbers of motifs and archetypes that are exhibited throughout the story. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum is a story about a girl named Dorothy who is sent to fulfill arduous tasks and lengthy quests in order to find her way back home. As she tries to find her return home, she has many rough encounters with evil but is assisted by various characters and eventually returns home safely. Why I Am Thankful

...day. He has always provided for me with everything that I need so I never need to worry because he takes care of me. I am so thankful that my parents can afford to pay for my school, for my teachers, and for my close friends. I thank God for helping me get through my struggles. I thank God for the loving family I have. I have so much to be thankful for. My life wouldn't be the same without the people that have shaped and molded my character. They have helped me succeed, and for that, I am thankful. I think it is important to be humble, and remember all of the people that helped me get to where I am, whether it's my parents, my siblings, my close friends or even God. Being thankful is being able to not focus on the hardships of life, and instead acknowledging everything in my life that has made it better. I am thankful to God and my family, and my friends, and even my teachers for helping me improve my life. Being thankful to me is appreciating everything God has given me. I think it means counting all of my blessings and being grateful for all the wonderful things in my life. Personal Benefits of Volunteering

...project or program, what you are doing will benefit an individual person or many people. Volunteering can be a short or long term situation, but whichever you choose, you should make sure that you are able to commit to the time involved. I volunteer at my church. The program that I volunteer in is called Friendship Ministry. With volunteering for the Friendship Ministry, I share God’s love with people who have impairments and help them become an active member of God’s family. Each mentor is assigned a “friend” that they will develop a relationship with. We sit with our friends and have lunch with them and play activities and sing with them while teaching them that we were all made special and are God’s family. We do this the third Sunday of each month. Each mentor interacts with their friends differently, but makes them feel special. I developed a special relationship with my friend Susan. She lives in a group home run by the state. She is 43 years old and such a wonderful person. We decided that since our birthdays were so close together, that we would celebrate by going to her favorite restaurant – Applebee’s. While at dinner, I found out that Susan can’t read very well and only has about a third grade reading level. She’d love to be able to learn how to read, but the state home that she lives in has strict rules...

Life

...Nevarez 1 Danielle Nevarez Professor Jones English 113 3 November 2010 Life In the past year I have some wonderful memories, and some I would rather forget. I have moved out of my parent’s house and in with a friend that happen to be the roommate from hell. I have broken my collarbone in three places, and had to have two painful surgeries. But none of these compare to meeting my wonderful boyfriend, the love of my life. My decision to move out of my parents’ house came rather sudden. My parents and I were fighting all the time, I was never home and tension at home got to intense. I decided to move in with my best friend at the time. It seemed like a reasonable idea; we worked together, hung out together all the time, it seemed to be the best thing. After six months of living together, things started to fall apart. We seemed to be arguing all the time, bills were late, and we were just plain sick of living with each other. One night it all came to a boiling point when my roommate came home and started and argument with me. The argument turned physical, and I decided at that moment I was done. My parents, still supportive, helped me gather my things the next day, and I moved back into their home. Just when I thought it could not be worse at home with my roommate, I fell down a flight of stairs and broke my collarbone in three places. I didn’t know I had broken it at first. It wasn’t until two days later, I was in excruciating pain, so I went to the doctor. The doctor...

Facebook

...“Facebook friends” than the people they talk to in real life. Facebook has changed many lives because it has allowed people to connect with others that they may never have talked to in real life, or may never have been able to find otherwise. I believe Facebook has positively impacted the lives of high school and college students because it has increased their communication skills with others and possibly even built their friendship circle. Sometimes, we as humans have a natural fear of being judged by people we do not know. This means that we don’t always take opportunities to talk to new people face-to-face like we would like to because of this social anxiety. I believe Facebook has been a wonderful way to connect people to others that they may have never spoken to in person because they were afraid of being judged. When you’re behind a computer you are less likely to feel threatened by starting a conversation with someone new, because if it goes bad or gets awkward you can always hit the “x” at the top of the screen and pretend the conversation never started. Many people have hundreds of Facebook friends when in real life they may only talk to a fourth of those people face-to-face. They may not be close with the other three-fourths, but it’s still a step in the right direction when it comes to talking with new people. Facebook gives students the opportunity to find people you may not know how to reach in other ways. For example, a friend I met through another friend a while...

First Impressions

...events or people. First impressions are the initial feelings that we have towards a person when we originally meet them. This impression can affect any future experiences with the same person, because we attach to those initial feelings from the first few hours of meeting them. About a year ago one of my close friends started dating a younger man that was from a well-known local family that was notorious for their kindness. The first time I meet him, he seemed like a wonderful person. He acted chivalrous, and politely complimented all of the women there. He made delightful conversation and acted genuinely interested of what each one of us had to say. He would send my friend flowers on a whim, and surprise her at work with food for lunch. My friend could sometimes act like a prima donna, and her boyfriend wouldn’t get mad at her at all. My friend’s boyfriend seemed like he was a character pulled right out of a movie. I thought he was perfect for her for quite a few months. There were a few times when he would be angry at her for talking to other men. I thought that it was only human to get a little jealous, especially if he did not know they were her friends from school. During another incident, I was spending time with the two of them and she said something he did not care for and he was extremely disrespectful and told her that her opinion was unimportant. I just figured her was having a troubling day and that it was an isolated occurrence. It turns out that as time...

Friendship

...Friendship is the most wonderful relationship that anyone can have. Ideally a friend is a person who offers love and respect and will never leave or betray us. Friends can tell harsh truths when they must be told. There are four different types of friends: True friends, Convenient friends, Special interest friends, and historical friends. To have friendship is to have comfort. In times of crisis and depression, a friend is there to calm us and to help lift up our spirits. There are many illustrations that show why a friend can be a great comforter. For example, if a student is going through a hard time at school, a friend can offer guidance, encouragement and support. A true friend is also someone who loves and respects us. A boyfriend and a girlfriend desire to be with each other. They love each other so much that they just want to be with each other as much as possible. This bond is also present in a good friendship because it has genuine love. Also, as friends they respect each other. They try to avoid causing conflicts. They don’t make fun of each other, but treat each other with respect. As friends, we all make sacrifices for each other. Some friends risk their lives for a friend. An example of this true friendship can be found in the movie, American Pie. Todd had a championship football game, but on the same day there was an All-State choir going on. Todd and his girlfriend were both into choir. The leprechaun is joined by his forest friends as they hide a pot of gold and search for a four leaf clover. Sanja Rešček’s illustrations are colorful and displayed the story in a delightful manner. Throughout the story several words are highlighted by being in different colors then the surrounding text. This variance in text will draw the children’s attention to the words and help them develop print awareness. At times the story felt a little forced to fit into “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” rhythm. What Is Love?

...What is Love? ENG105 What is Love? Most people are likely to say ‘Love is a wonderful thing’. This is a statement that can lead to much argument depending on those one may ask. This particular statement does not define what love actually is but rather state that love is wonderful. Every individual has a different definition of love. Most people love things such as their animals, books, hobbies, God, friends and families. There are different types of love for each of these things. The definition of love cannot be described with one definition but with several. When love is first thought of, most minds migrate to that of romance. Being “in love” often makes one feel somewhat funny. There are often feelings of the heart racing, sweaty palms, and butterflies in one’s stomach. That moment tends to be the best moment ever and one hopes it will last forever. Both individuals in the relationship try to make each other as happy as possible.
