Not only are they driving a vehicle that has the potential to take their life, but it has the ability to take the life of others as well. Driving requires a large deal of focus and requires many types of concentration. Sending a text message while driving requires a great deal of attention as well and is projected to cause 28% of automobile accidents per year (Pascual-Ferrá, P). When someone chooses to send a text while driving, they are sacrificing their ability to concentrate on the road, increasing the chance of tragedy. In order for a change to be made in the way drivers view texting and driving, drivers must realize the negative effects texting can have on driving abilities.
