“All Cops Are Racist”
In America we look to our cops as a first line or defense, to protect us in our everyday journey through life, no matter what city or state, there is always a police department that is dedicated to keeping us safe from unlawful acts that may harm us. At least this is what the majority of citizens would like to agree on, unfortunately that statement would not be agreeable among most discussions. Day by day our free country has questioned our law enforcement and their potentially discriminatory actions against race. These questions raise distrust and concerns between the opposing views. To understand this stereotype, first, racism needs to be defined. According to Dictionary.com racism is defined as “a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human racial groups determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right to dominate others.” Notice that within the definition there is nothing that alludes to or states that “it’s a belief that all cops practice” or “commonly practiced by cops”. This is why the statement that all cops are racist is a stereotypical statement of discrimination and not a fact. These false accusations should not be some overly used stereotypical joke that’s amusing, because it’s not even the slightest bit amusing. Racism affects many individuals, and the majority are even affected on a daily basis, causing chaos, heart break, fear, discouragement, resent, anger, hopelessness and depression. Racism is a growing concern in the United States and should not be taken lightly. Especially when putting into affiliation with our countries law
