Antisocial behaviour. It is not only just a very discussed subject but also a very important thing to act against. Have young people become an issue for the society? Why have they become such a huge problem? And can we do anything to solve this problem? Gangs, crime and drop outs is big problems that is somehow linked together. Several young people drop-out of school and instead of being in class and thereby be taking an education they spend their time on the streets. Studies have shown that young people who drop out of school are more likely to turn into criminals. "The proportion of 16 to 17 year-olds not in education, employment or training has increased from 7 per cent in 1997 to 9 per cent in 2007". If the studies are right, it means that there will be more youngsters running around and vandalizing the city. This will of course be an issue for the society. Some of the main reasons why young people commit crime may be financial problems and/or boredom, if they simply need to feel the adrenalin of doing something that they know to a certain extent is wrong. What I do not understand is why they drop out of school. This action will of course affect them the rest of their life because an education is almost always the key to a good future. And with fewer low skilled jobs there is needed more highly skilled young people and this means spending more time in training or education. Youngsters who actually continue in education or training for a while will earn more and be less likely to be involved in antisocial behaviour. Studies shows that youngsters with antisocial behaviour often comes from troubled families. These kind of families don not usually have high educated parents. Therefore the children are more likely to end up without an education. This is called social heritage when the child end up, more or less, like there parents. What can we do about that? Is there a way we could make youngsters stay in school? Well we could give the young people some kind of reward or treat. In Denmark for example you get an amount of money from the state when you are taking an education, but only if you are 18 or older. This could make the youngsters take an education just so when they are 18 they get money. If the youngsters choose not to take an education and if they are unemployed they may resort to crime. So instead of giving the youngsters a big lesson by catching them in the criminal act and send them to juvenile hall there in 2005 was developed a little smart device. The device sends out high frequencies that only teenagers are able to hear. They are only able to hear it because of the small hairs they have in their inner ear, that will detect high frequencies. When you reach the age of 25 you can probably not hear the frequencies because the hairs in the inner ear are “dead”. The transmitter is called Mosquito and sends out a pulse at 18 kilohertz that switches on and off four times a second for up to 20 minutes. The device is supposed to decrease the amount of criminal acts in front the different retailers. If an employee finds a group of youngsters hanging out in front of the retailer annoying, they may activate/ turn on Mosquito. The sonic devise Mosquito have already shown results. A Spar in Berry, south Wales, which was the first to use the device, said that crime outside the store had dropped by 83% since the device was installed. Mosquito is installed 3000 different locations such as malls, supermarkets, grocery stores etc. all across the United Kingdom. We can not force people into an education but we can lure them into taking one. You will never get any good response by forcing someone to do something. Being forced to do something make people not want to do it. They will not try. They will not do a good job. Young people especially will argue and be uneasy to be around if they feel like being forced.
