Atheists claim that a God and an afterlife do not exist and once one dies, their life ceases to exist. Agnostics defend that humans are unable to know whether or not a God exists and must be shown proof in order to believe. However, most agnostic and atheists who have encountered a near-death experience “eventually move toward a more spiritually guided life with a new found belief in life after death” (San Filippo 9). Therefore, playing a video can turn non-believers into believers, and give them hope towards a better afterlife.

In most cases though, children near death have witnessed many days in the hospital and are “frequently mature beyond their chronological years” (Levine 170). They have faced near-death experiences and have had to learn how to stay strong through it all. There is no clear line to determine adulthood maturity, so many youth patients may be just as mature as a legal adult. Some argue that granting this right to children may open up other spheres such as smoking cigarettes and dropping out of school (Levine 176). This claim falls into a slippery slope fallacy because allowing children to make medical decisions would not directly affect their ability to gain other rights. Allowing competent minors to make decisions for themselves allows them to have a say over their own bodies.
