...I think that Flannery O’Connor’s short story “A Good Man is Hard to Find” is written partially in order to “convert” people who have not yet fully accepted the Christian faith. O’Conner, herself being a strong believer in Christianity, probably thought that writing this story will help make people who aren’t really living by the Christian rules to seriously consider doing so. Flannery O'Connor was deeply concerned with the values and the direction of the youth at the time. She believed that Christ was no longer enough of a priority to the people of her generation. "A Good Man is Hard to Find" is representative of Flannery O'Connor's concern for the priorities and values of the 1940s. An example of this, in "A Good Man is Hard to Find," involves the grandmother's strong, southern heritage. She dresses with the intention that anyone who finds her dead on the road will know she was a lady, and she is always telling stories of southern gentlemen courting her. Then, the Misfit, whom she "knows" is of quality, southern blood, shoots her and her family, despite her belief in southern hospitality. Grandma is a woman who believes in God, but it seems that her belief isn’t really strong up until her confrontation with the Misfit. From what I understand, most of her works follow a similar pattern. The main character(s) are in some kind of trouble and at the end they see “the light” of God’s ways and have their redemption. Christians have often criticized her works for...

In some cases a tarnished and even violent past hasn’t impacted the brand at all – it may even add to the mystique. A slew of hip hop artists from 50 Cent to Eve have or are turning their urban images into lifestyle brands. P. Diddy (a.k.a., Sean Combs), saw his five-year-old Sean John fashion label bring in $400 million in retail sales in 2003. A women's collection and fragrance are also planned. At Federated, one of the biggest department store chains in the US, Sean John occupies 153,000 square feet of floor space -- making it the store's third-largest player in menswear, behind Polo and Tommy Hilfiger. Not bad considering Combs was arrested in 1999 for assaulting a record executive, and tried in 2001 on gun possession and bribery charges related to a 1999 shooting at a Manhattan nightclub (where he'd been with...

...Bad Boy C.E.O. Sean “Puffy” Combs Arrested in Connection With Murder of Tupac Shakur! On Thursday, September 17th, 2014 the arrest of Sean “Puffy” Combs may have been undertaken by authorities for the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur on the Las Vegas, Nevada Strip. Associates in Combs’ organization have indicated off-the-record that, yes, Sean Combs was in fact under arrest. This disclosure comes just days after the 18th anniversary of the so far unsolved murder of the mega-superstar, Tupac Shakur. In a press release with the date of September 16th, 2014, a spokesperson for the Las Vegas District Attorney’s office said that there has come sufficient evidence to make an arrest and to obtain conviction for the murder of Shakur in 1996. This most probably indicates that an arrest warrant has been issued. The same statement makes mention that former Death Row bodygaurd, Frank Alexander, has led detectives onto several witnesses that do show a ‘high profile person’ is connected to the conspiracy to murder Tupac Shakur. It said that an arrest would be soon to follow. It has been reported widely by many of those supposedly in the know that, Orlando Anderson, a member of L. A. based South SIde Crips is the shooter in the Tupac case. Anderson, it is known, was beaten by Shakur and his Death Row associtates before the murderous shooting of Shakur on the Vegas Strip. It has been said numerous times in the 18 years since the Shakur murder that Sean Combs and...

...Chapter 1The Son of Morningstar“Gina’s goin’ to ground me again.” I complained. Mike and I were out flying over town again. The Fallen had forbid me from socializing with Mike and forbid me from flying. Right now I’m breaking both rules and my Aunt Gina is going to murder me. But she hasn’t flown in years and can’t remember the sweet tranquility and since of freedom and pure joy you get from flying. It’s just too much for me to give upIt was well past one in the morning and Mike and I were out downtown again. We missed the Light Rail. Again. “No, Mike that's not the point, I don't care about groundings. The point is it's your fault but when you get me home she's going to melt and say, 'Thank you Michael for bringing my irresponsible nephew home,” I smirked, “I'm half tempted to tell her exactly how angelic you are.” He gave me a horrified look, “Luke, come on.” I laughed at my friend knowing I would never do such a thing. Mike's reaction was understandable. Mike was son of Michael the Archangel. I am Lucian Morningstar, son of the devil. Right now he's committing treason against his father and heaven. The penalty for treason is getting cast out of heaven depending on severity of the crime they could go as far as casting you here to earth as an immortal human bound in the weak (in our terms the human is the weakest form of life) human body the shock of it could send you spiraling into a coma and you will be a immortal vegetable. In my opinion it's all bullshit to me. “Here...

...“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” Joshua 1:9. This bible verse is one of my favorites due to the fact that no matter the sins I have committed he will always be by my side and be the light that directs me down the path I am meant to be on. God has put me on this Earth for a reason and has as plan for me. It is up to myself to figure out the plan God has planned for me and it is important for me to know that God will be with me through it all no matter the circumstance. In order for me to discover my divine design, I first must understand myself as well as my strengths and weakness in terms of interaction with people, the way I learn, the way I make my decisions and how I deal with the world around me. Right now God is asking me to be the best person possible. He brought me to Southeastern for a reason and I am still trying to figure out that exact reason but it feels right being here. I love to be around my close friends and listen to what they have to say and then give them advice about life and the things going on around them. I am an extroverted person so I am not very shy. I believe that in the future God’s plan for me is to be around a group of young adults, maybe young kids or high school aged (young adults). I love to interact with people and I get my energy from others so being around a young group of young people would be perfect for me, kind of like...

In Tupac’s poem the concrete symbolizes his early childhood and the struggles that were a part of growing up. Tupac’s father was absent for most of his life, according to the (urbandictionary.com). Tupac did not meet his biological father, Billy (William) Garland, until after he was shot five times on November 30, 1994, in New York City. Tupac would eventually incorporate the “thug life” persona in his life which would lead Tupac on a downward spiral of misfortunes. Mikal Gilmore, in Rolling Stones article characterizes Tupac as “perhaps the most despised man in America.” Gilmore goes on to describe the late rapper’s music as being merciless and condemned by some of Americas most powerful people (Glimore102-104). ...made from a Bronx, New York hotel room, Christopher had collapsed in his hotel room. EMT workers were unable to revive him. Christopher Lee Rios had died of heart failure at the age of 28. Much like Chris the U.S population is very much overweight. The obesity epidemic is growing at a rapid rate, and if we don't do something about it soon enough we will surcome to the same fate as Chris. Obesity is a health risk, it serves as a passageway to a very bad life of certain cancers , Diabetes , Sleep Apnea , and if you’re pregnant long and short term health risks for the mother and child. If we change school meal plans, stop using harmful chemicals, and quit beautifying food we may be able to reverse our terrible fate. It is each and every person’s responsibility to help ensure this doesn’t keep going. Society today has ‘beautified” foods that are bad for us and our kids. Theses major corporate companies put preservatives and other man made substances into our foods. We are feeding our kids these horrible things and then wonder why our 8 year-old is 110 lbs., in the 3rd grade. The reality of these issues is that as long as we’re feeding it to ourselves and our loved ones we will never achieve the “ideal weight” the television glamorizes on a day-to-day basis. Most kids plug into the world of television...
