...Beneficial Technology Canesha Abdulahi AIU Online December 14, 2014 Beneficial Technology Introduction Every industry has its own requirements that are unique for the implementation of technology solutions that can aid in managing and growing their business. We will be looking at requirements for the industries of retail, healthcare and manufacturing. These are organizations that could have the same requirements that work for sales and Human Resources. The differences in the organizations reveal they have client bases and operation that are different. This means that they require different legal requirements for privacy and data protection. Some of the companies in these industries may have to have more Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) such as product and supply chain management, financial management, sales order management and materials management (Wilhite, 2014). SBS Seating SBS Seating manufactures leather seating. I would first recommend a kind of Furniture Manufacturing Software. This software would be part of a Material Resource Planning system (MRP). The software has to put together all of the correct steps that are needed in order to build chairs at a level of flow of information that is correct. The plan must include Customer Relationship Portal (CRM), financial management, service support, supply chain management, production management and E commerce if planning to do online sales (Epicor, n.d.). The software will let management teams find out how much it...

...to avoid further compounding the problem. Efficient municipal recycling programs are beneficial both environmentally and economically because they minimize dangerous landfills, reduce waste by reusing valuable resources, and create cost-effective waste management systems. This paper intends to enlarge on the above issues to demonstrate the validity of this thesis. Some proponents would argue against recycling efforts, but this work intends to elucidate the potential benefits achievable through implementation of a well-planned recycling system. During the 20th century Organic and natural waste (biowaste) was the most common trash in landfills. Product waste has now claimed the majority of US landfills. Product waste is a toxic and hazardous waste which derives from mass producing companies. Among a variety of types, the most common “Product waste” is plastic packaging wrap. (Sheehan) Landfill pollutants not only escape into groundwater as a result of land fill liner breakage (Sheehan) but they also are released into the atmosphere much more significantly with standard disposal methods than with recycling methods (Martin). It is clear that standard disposal methods are negatively effecting our environment and measures need to promptly be taken to slow this destructive process. Recycling is a well rounded choice because it is earth-friendly, logical, and economically beneficial. Through the production of products from recycled resources, new resources are saved. For...

...The Beneficial Invention Chavelis Nunez ENGPROF/01 January 19, 2014 Dr. Daniel Gonzalez The Beneficial Invention Technology has changed the way we communicate with one another over the last two decades. As we have seen with the evolution of the cellphone and other technology it is always changing. Since technology is ever changing the next great beneficial invention that would be most beneficial to society would be 3D printed earphones. In a society that is constantly immersed in the technology offered to us, headphones and earphones have become beneficial to the way we do things on a day to day basis. Living in New York affords me the chance to take the transit system on a daily basis which allows me to see how immersed we have become with the ever changing technology, including myself. People always have headphones or earphones in their ears either listening to music, watching movies, or talking on the phone. One thing that I’m sure bothers people constantly about this technology especially earphones is that it is constantly falling out of your ears. I recently had the chance to work in a company that has branched into using this technology to offer people the chance to make custom made 3D printed earphones. The inventor of the Normal 3D customized earphone Nikki Kaufman looked into what was being done in terms of this technology and found out that nothing was currently being done in the market. In order to make custom made earphones a person would have to visit...

...The Web is Beneficial in Education When it comes to the web, everyone has their own opinions, especially when it comes to education. I personally think the web is an excellent tool when it comes to education. I am a mother of eight children whom all of get above average grades. I also attend college to fix, repair, and network the web with a 4.0 GPA. My family has a strong dependency on the web for everything that we could possibly need it for. Judith Levine mentions that almost everything her students get off the web is trash fish (223). I am certain this is true, but not entirely. If a student wants to take the time and research information on the web to make sure it is not trash then they will, like my children do. Although there is quite a bit of trash on the web, there is also quite a bit of knowledge, if the student wants to find it. Saying that students are not critically thinking when they use the web is making a poor assumption when that could be written up as sheer laziness. Some students take what they see at face value without doing any other outside research just to be done with the homework. I think the web should not be the blame on lack of education but the laziness of the students. I think that if a parent of teacher teaches a student how to use the web to enhance their education experience instead of downgrading the whole web in general students will learn more. In her article, Judith Levine states that students do not read because they are surfing. (223)...

...| Online Classes, Beneficial? | | | Jeremy Shepard | 5/9/2013 | | Going to College online does not equal or surpass the educational value of a traditional campus learning experience. With a full time college schedule, doing 13.5 credit hours per semester is considered to be another full time job. Most people assume to just do this in their spare time. They assume to be able to still manage a family and have a job. Students have to have a huge amount of time management skills. “As with most things, if you don't manage your time properly, you will find yourself buried beneath a seeming insurmountable mountain of coursework.” (montgomery college, 2013) With a traditional college, there is an instructor explaining things and teaching. This allows for there to be questions at the point of not understanding. With online classes, there is no direct instruction besides the reading of the text. There are also no direct questions available. You have to type an email explaining your question and hope that the instructor understands what you are talking about and where your concern lies. “Research has shown over and over again that community college students who enroll in online courses are significantly more likely to fail” (NY Times, 2013). With online classes, it is way easier to get behind and even harder to gain the ground back again. They can take more time than normal classes usually do. This I believe is because you have to prove your knowledge with assignments...

...Organ Donation: Not Always Beneficial Organ donation can be very beneficial, but sometimes, it does not always work. For example, “Four transplant recipients in Chicago have contracted H.I.V. from an organ donor” (Grady). As this story exemplifies, before people consider becoming organ and tissue donors, they must consider the consequences. Tissue and organ donation can be done either by a living donor or a deceased donor. If the donor is deceased, then the doctor’s either have to get consent from the donor’s family, or they might have a donor card that states that the patient wanted to have their organs donated. People must consider the following consequences before deciding whether or not they should become donors: the potential...

...Imagine you are walking down a city street, and the old brick walls are decorated with colorful and unique art work. In some cities, there are laws prohibiting graffiti, while in others, street art has gained worldwide recognition and become a cultural attraction for tourists. In the united States, graffiti should be encouraged in cities, and can be seen as a way to beautify a community and provide a mean for artists to express themselves and take pride in their neighborhood. Some people use the “broken window theory” which claims that graffiti leads to larger issues of crime. However, other studies have shown that graffiti can actually be beneficial to a community. For example, in his book “Graffiti Murals: Exploring the Impacts of Street...

...Technology: Beneficial or Harmful? Throughout the vast history of humanity, humans have always used their innovative and cognitive skills to create tools to better improve their chances at survival on this planet. This technology advancement first began in the Stone Age when man fist discovered that stone could be utilized as both a harvesting tool and hunting weapon; which gradually developed into spears, bows and arrows, and swords. And as time pressed on, one of the most important and influential inventions since the beginning of time was designed in the shape of a circle: the wheel. However, unlike in earlier times, the evolution of technology in the past 60 years has been growing so rapidly that society has scarcely been able to keep up with it on a global scale. And due to this accelerated development of technology, accurate assessment and critical reflection on our dependency of these new technologies has been greatly hindered. So if one were to consider all the consequences and results of today’s technology objectively, could our dependency on modern day technology be viewed as positive or negative outcome? Both sides of this argument have solid, valid claims, but do the pros outweigh the cons or are the benefits of technology not worth the potential harm it can cause to our society. As the advancement of technology drastically rises, society’s dependency for these technologies also rises, however, this correlation can prove exceedingly beneficial for the people...

...Doping can be a serious issue at any level of sports. Keep in mind that some forms of doping can be the use of narcotics and stimulants that can inhibit an athlete’s mind and not just supplements. Athletes are always looking for something to help get that edge, whether it is a second off their sprint time, being able to withstand a long run with ease, hitting a ball farther or lifting a few more pounds at the gym. Doping can give that edge to athletes and help them win that competition. But is it fair? We know that some forms of doping are just that, dope better known as drugs and is illegal to possess and use. As I see it, doping is cheating! Any titles and/or awards that are earned by the athletes who have been proven to be under the influence of drugs during the competition should be given back or stripped. Like, I have stated already doping is cheating and in some forms illegal. Why should it be okay for someone to alter their bodies just to get the edge over other athletes who work hard the right way? The moral question of doping has to do with young athletes who are badly influenced by professional athletes. Young athletes may idolize older athletes who find the need to dope their bodies. The older athletes win their competitions and the young athletes see them being awarded with medals, boom these kids see it as way to a means and quickly think they should also use performance enhancement drugs in order to win. The problem is that it teaches the young athletes...

...Chelsie Rangeloff Sara Tangdall English Comp II 30 April 2014 Gap Year: The Beneficial Alternative “I thought it would be exciting to go there, and of course it was.” Alexander Sullivan was accepted into Columbia University, but instead of transitioning into the university out-right he asked to differ enrollment. Alexander, instead, decided to travel to China where he studied Mandarin, and after a while found a job as a research assistant at the Newsweek Beijing bureau and at Voice of America radio news. (Hulstrand 52). A gap year as explained by Holly Bull, the founder and president of the Center for Interim Programs (CIP), one of the first and longest running providers of gap year programs in the country, is “a period of time for students to creatively step away from the lock-step path of high school to college, to graduate school, or job” (77). Enrolling in college immediately after high school graduation is not always the right decision for seniors that are lacking motivation and unsure what to academically pursue in post secondary education. Acknowledging that not every high school senior has to continue their education without delay after high school is a concept that advisors as well as parents need to understand. They should provide possibilities for those students whom lack motivation to continue their educational paths immediately after graduation. Many high school seniors feel pressured to start college immediately after graduating because sending in college...

...Traditional Schooling is More Beneficial Traditonal schooling is when you attend a formal class room setting. As you all know, technology is rapidly growing throughout the world. Everyday you are associated with a form of technology and it is becoming more predominant in your lives. Now, online classes are an option. This advancement changes the ways and motivation of learning. Students no longer have to "go" to class; they can get online at home, a cafe, or anywhere else that provides internet access. Online classes may seem more convenient, but traditional learning is more beneficial. Many people argue that online learning is just as beneficial as traditional learning, if not more. Online learning allows you to have access to your classes where ever you go. You can go on vacation, or simply out to lunch and carry your classes with you. ...English 9H A Raisin in the sun Critical Lens Essay Damon Chen May 14, 2015 “For everything you have missed, you have gained something else, and for everything you gain, you lose something else.” This is a quote from Helen Keller, the famous American lecturer and writer who was blind and deaf from the age of 19 months. I personally agree with this quote, and I see some similar points on Beneatha, one of the main character in “A Raisin in the sun”. in the story, Beneatha faces two choices, and neither of them is perfect but she must choose one of them. Beneatha Younger is Mama’s daughter and Walter’s sister. Beneatha is an intellectual, Twenty years old African-American woman who attends college and is better educated than the rest of the Younger family. Some of her personal beliefs and views have distanced her from conservative Mama. She dreams of being a doctor and struggles to determine her identity as a well-educated black woman. In the book, she faces two problems: marry a wealthy but arrogant African-American man George Murchison or marry a poor but idealistic Nigerian student Joseph Asagai to follow her dream. George Murchison is a wealthy, African-American man who loves Beneatha. The Youngers approve George, but Beneatha dislikes him, because of his willingness to submit to white culture and forget his African heritage. “Let’s face it baby, your heritage is nothing but a bunch of raggedy-assed spirituals and some grass huts.” He challenges the thoughts and feelings of...
