...News of a Nation In the modern age of technology, the individual is able to receive news of around the nation or the world from various sources. Since stations; such as NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX, are distinct broadcast stations, some may have different techniques of presenting their stories. Some broadcast stations, such as NBC, use the words “pierce” and “wail of sirens” to set the tone of the story to evoke emotions from viewers at home. Broadcast stations, like CBS, use visuals and interviews to give a clearer understanding of what happened and how it happened. However, some stations, like FOX tend to give viewers a goofy and simply non-serious report on events and incidents that occur in the nation. Then there are stations, like ABC, who simply deliver the news clearly and directly to viewers at home. News stations around the nation have different methods of delivering their news, although some of them are less beneficial than others. During NBC’s Nightly News, with Brian Williams, the Pentagon correspondant, Jim Miklaszewski, emphasizes the implications the Navy yard shooting had in the four mile radius of the incident. ...CRT/205 Evaluating Media for Creditability The news broadcast that I watched was local channels. Channel 7 and Channel 2, they are really the only channels that I watch. The times of the broadcast were both 11:00pm news on Friday July7th 2012. I recorded the one channel while I watched the other. I decided on local news because I knew that these would be more similar then the national broadcasts because they have such a wide range of things to report on, where the local is just in your area so the stories should be similar. The news channel that I felt was more credible was channel 2. The reason why I think that channel two news was more credible is because they were more through with their reports on each story and they always had witness either involved or around to put in their thoughts or insight. I think that they are more rounded when it comes to reporting on a story. I think that this is funny that I feel this way because I favor channel 7 personally, I always watch channel 7 and no other channel so I am a little shocked with my own findings.
