...Business Ownership P1 Organisation 1 – NHS The NHS is a national public sector health service maintained and paid for by the UK. The NHS was founded in 1948 in an attempt by the then heath secretary, Aneurin Bevan, to bring good healthcare to all. It was founded to provide affordable healthcare to the citizens of the UK who need it. Today the NHS has a very good reputation as it continues to provide good healthcare to those in need, they currently employ over 1.6 million government people to achieve this endeavour. The NHS is a national business as it only operates in the UK and only provides its services to those living in the UK. It only operates in the tertiary sector as they provide a service for the public but do not manufacture, sell or harvest raw materials. Because it is a public business it doesn’t make a profit instead it uses it’s funding to help with the financial burden of medical procedures. There are down sides to this for example the NHS don’t always have the most up to date equipment. Because the service is maintained and paid for by the government they are the ones that will be held liable for any problems with the way the NHS runs or if it overspends. The NHS is limited by their annual budget for the year 2015 their budget was £115 Billion. ...P2 - Influence on organisation by Stakeholders Stakeholders | John Lewis | Cystic Fibrosis Trust | Employees | Employees play an integral part and have a massive influence over John Lewis as both as an organisation in the public eye and as a business trying to gain profit. This is because if without employees you don’t have a company. So, John Lewis has to try its utmost hardest to keep all parties within their corporation happy. That means fair salary, holiday days, terms of sick pay etc. And without customers, there will be no one at the tills, no one to stack shelves, no one in the bakery or deli sections and no one running the floor they work on. | Employees play a big role in the forward-movement of the CFT as they are the ones that are, actually in person, to provide the service given by the trust. Whether this is through care, activities etc. it is a major reason to keep staff happy so they can carry on producing a great service for the people suffering. | Customers | Customers are one of the most fluctuating factors for John Lewis as if the buyer doesn’t think the price is right they are going to go elsewhere, which puts John Lewis at a disadvantage and possible loss. | The trust doesn’t have that many customers, unless it is people buying their products such as t-shirts, wristbands and headbands. But customers aren’t as influential to the CFT as a substantial amount of their income is received from donations and government funding. | Investors/Donors | Investors...
