Baseball was the only thing I loved to play, I started out when I was eight in little league. My first year we started out on a pitching machine, then once I turned 10 we started live pitching. I was 12 years old and the season was coming to a end. I played in my hometown of Galena, Kansas. Our team that year was sponsored by Bills Glass in town. It was the last game of the season before all stars. We had to play the undefeated team for our last game of the year. My dad helped coach the team, but he was gone for work that day, so my mom filled in and helped out where she could. She always told me she would be on home plate if I hit a homerun. It was scorching hot that day, we were all tired. It was late in the 5th inning. We were the visitors and it was our last at bat, I was 4th in line or cleanup. My best friend Seth was going up to bat and said “give me a good one.” He got a base hit and sure enough bases were loaded and I was up. I was good friends with the pitcher from the opposing team. He threw the first pitch and I fouled it off. The second pitch I fouled off. I had one last chance or we were done. It was two outs and I had two strikes.
