You are a new fourth grade teacher in an elementary school and notice that one of your students consistently comes to school in the morning with dirty clothes, body odor, and suspicious bruises on his arm. According to the ethics code and district faculty policies, what should be your plan of action for addressing this issue?

Despite the fact that instructors facilitate children’s education, kids cannot learn efficiently if their responsiveness or dynamism is exhausted by the conflicts inherent in being mistreated. This statute applies to suspected or confirmed reports against any person, regardless of occupation, who is alleged to be involved or any person who is supposed to have committed any act of child abuse. School personnel are not exempted from mandatory reporting of child abuse even when a colleague employee is suspected or confirmed as the abuser. It is exceptionally distressing for most teachers to contemplate that a coworker might be abusing students. In the case that this does take place, children need superior protection. It is imperative to remember that schools leaders are mandated reporters whether the abuser is an unusual person or a school staff member. Under the State child mistreatment and negligence reporting statutes, instructors have similar liabilities for failing to report alleged cases carry out by workmates as for incidents resulting from interfamilial abuse or neglect. The value of this personal commitment is important because without it, child mistreatment, carelessness prevention and management efforts would be only apparent or useless. This is the sense of personal duty to and for my students that is definitely the strongest motivation for me to become involved in the intervention of child neglect and lack of care. This article was an eye opener and a learning lesson for me. Not only do we, as parents, have an obligation to be involved in our children’s lives, we also must gain awareness to the dangers that surround them outside of our homes. Everyone knows that illegal drugs are a threat to our children on a daily basis. We are all taught in elementary school to “just say no”. Kids are told all kinds of horror stories about drug deals gone wrong, chemicals added to the drug that were lethal, and the physical effect of the drugs. Not once in school do I remember being warned about prescription drugs. After all, who wants to confuse a child by telling them that the medicine a doctor gives them can be equally harmful as the drugs sold on the street?
