...I Believe in VeggieTales I grew up watching cartoons. First, it was Clifford the Big Red Dog and Arthur, which eventually morphed into SpongeBob Squarepants on Saturday mornings with my siblings. But these characters and stories did not impact me nearly as much as the storytelling vegetables of VeggieTales. When I was younger, the stories were simple fun that I did not think about too hard, but looking back, the simplicity of the truths that can be pulled from these stories is refreshing. And let me tell you, I remember a lot from VeggieTales. More often than not, my siblings, or even my mom, and I will quote and sing the lines from these shows word for word. The lessons from these veggie friends are important and fixed in my brain. I believe...

...Tom Beyer Childhood Moments: On June 7, 1943 the Beyer family added a hardworking, strong, caring son and brother named Tom Beyer. He grew up as the middle child between his two brothers, Bill and Bob. His older brother Bill, who is nine years older than Tom, was someone that Tom looked up to as a young kid because he went to college and was in the army. Tom spent his early childhood going to school and playing with his best friends. He remembers these moments as always fun, even when his friend’s dad would put them to work on their farm. Tom spent his happiest moments of his childhood with his brothers and his dad hunting and fishing. He even remembers catching his first gigantic fish, a four and a half pound small mouth bass. ...agrees with this second ending, because Pip matured and sees Estella as she really is, so they can get back together. However, this book is meant to be a coming-of-age tale, and therefore teach real life lessons. The alternate, “happy” ending of this book severely conflicts with the lesson this book is trying to teach. This ending is the equivalent of the witch in Hansel and Gretel giving them pots of gold and letting them go, or the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood throwing a surprise party for Little Red Riding Hood…..meaning that the ending doesn’t fit in the context of the story. And here are three reasons why the Disney ending of this story is completely wrong. The entire purpose of this story is to teach lessons to future generations about how it’s on the inside that counts, and that some things are just not meant to be. In Great Expectations, Pip loves Estella starting in childhood, and becomes a “gentleman” to try to please her. During this time he is so blinded by his stubborn love that he annihilates everybody who cares for him. Towards the end of story he realizes this, repairs his connections with his friends, and goes with Herbert to Egypt. Later, he then goes back to England, and sees Estella married a doctor. This is a perfect ending because it teaches the lesson of moving on with disappointments in life, and showed that in life, you usually don’t get what you want. With the new ending, kids would learn that no matter what you do, things will turn out all right, and...

...Title: Varying Interpretation of Fairy Tales in real life and The effects when introduced early in childhood. Justin L. Soriano Vincennes University Abstract This paper explores published articles that report studies done from research conducted upon observation of young children by Bettelheim (The uses of enchantment, 1976). The articles however vary in their definitions today. Bettelheim suggested that fairy tales have an emotional and symbolic importance especially those traditional stories that included abandonment, death, injuries and evil witches. These tales allowed children to cope up with their fears and understand moral values in their own terms. This paper also examines how preferred relationship traits are created based on stories like Cinderella or Snow White and how it affects us in choosing an ideal suitable partner. Varying Interpretation of Fairy Tales in real life and The effects when introduced early in childhood. Everybody as children has been read or told a version of “ Cinderella” at one point in their lives. They were recited to us by out parents and grandparents, aunts and uncle, older siblings or other relatives and of course our dear teachers at school when we were young. We can’t help but feel enthralled as our imaginations transport us to the enchanted time and place. But what really draws us to be so interested in fairy tale stories like these? How does these stories affect us or the children exposed to it in the long run as we...

...This excerpt from the poem tells of a grown man reminiscing back to days of childhood innocence, back to the days of being told that the only thing that matters is that he is happy. But then says that after all of that David Kirby says that as he grows he learnt how cruel and sad love is, as well as all lives must come to an end, and sadness is inevitable. These are valuable lessons about how sick and twisted the real world is which are learned as someone grows up from a child to an adult. These same lessons are Taught to Jean Louise “Scout” Finch throughout the book “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. The entire book itself is Scout looking back at joyfull, innocent, and fun childhood memories as well as events that brought upon sadness that also taught lessons important lessons on the sadness that the real world brings. The Tom Robinson case in particular taught Scout how how unfair life is and the outcome of the case showed them that there are many things in life that bring sadness. Those things can be the unfair treatment of African Americans or how many people will be affected by the outcome of the case, like Tom’s wife and kids. Ultimately both Scout and David Kirby both look back at fond moments of their innocent childhood and how their coming of age taught them important lessons on how realistic and sad the real world is....

...No matter how much time has gone by, good shows remain with us. Boy Meets World, Friends, and Full House were childhood staples of mine that have continually shaped who I am and have entertained me to this day. I seem to resonate with all three shows for various reasons that intertwine among the shows. They include the beauty of love, friendships, and family. In Boy Meets World, I got to understand how valuable love could be through the main characters of Cory and Topanga. The way that their love story played out was how many girls including myself only hope for. The two, who have known each other since childhood, grow to love one another as more than friends. Even with the trials and tribulations that come with young love, the two of them learn the true depth of their love. For example, the two separate themselves from each other at one point because being tougher was getting too difficult. But, they eventually end up back together because they realize that soul mates aren’t meant to part. The show has illustrated that love is something that requires hard work and dedication. With that, it can conquer anything. In addition, Feeny, the school teacher, exuded a different type of love to his students. He was the type of teacher who was always there to listen and help his students through things that went beyond the classroom. For example, he showed so much confidence in Shawn, who was the school’s troublemaker that just wanted to get by with his academics. Feeny always knew...

...Victoria era. During that time, a person was measured by their wealth, social status, and physical beauty. For many years, women struggled with the definition of beauty. Does inner or outer beauty matter more? A female’s inner beauty has not always been appreciated by either sex, so women struggled to define it themselves. In literature, this is a commonly explored theme. In Jane Eyre, the protagonist Jane, abandons her desire for outer beauty and trades it for working on her inner qualities. She then sees herself as beautiful. She placed a higher value on her philosophy and knowledge before her value of outer appearances. The lessons from her childhood focused on outer beauty and were reinforced as she reached her adulthood. In each hardship Jane encountered, her inner beauty outweighed her external appearance. In the end, she was rewarded with a man who loves her for what she offered internally....

...language. The way they dance on the tongue and lace itself around the minds of others, almost as though the words tattoo themselves on the skin of every individual. As the generations grow older, the lessons given become bolder and hold a greater imprint on those impacted. Leah Guest’s rewrite of 7 years, originally done by Lukas Graham, reflects on the impact of words and the lessons that surround a person. Time is constantly fleeting with a new lesson each day, and most of the time it is quickly forgotten. There are things in everyone’s life that will not only burn brightly in one’s heart, but can be just as likely smothered out. The memories and lessons that are taken now only set up the hopes and dreams for the future...
