...ESL90 Writing Draft 2 3/3/2015 Global Warming Today, the degree of temperature is growing higher and higher in the world. The South Pole and North Pole are melting rapidly. "In 50 years, polar bears and penguins will completely extincted" Andrew Derocher who is scientist pointed it out. Also, global warming brings many problem to the earth, such as natural disaters. Scientists estimaed and guessed that the season of Fall and Winter will be disappeared after 40 years. Global warming has become a serious problem. The concept of global warming means the average degree have been growing up from the gree house affect. Although there are many kind of reasons cause global warming, I think the main problems are less educational system and lack of international cooperation. For instance, an educated country has good air quality. In New Zealand and Australia, there almost have no air pollution problem because the people get environmental awareness in these both countries. How in some countries, for example, in China, the air pollution has become a really serious problem. In Beijing, people have to always wear mask while they are hanging out. The industries in China discharge polluted water without filtration because some people in China have been taught what environmental awareness is while they are studying in school. the New York-based Natural Resources Defense Council estimated that "in 2012, coal burning led to 670,000 premature deaths in China from diseases including heart disease...

...Jalen Foster Mr. Mundth ENG 107 16 December 2011 Biofuels on Mother Earth: Where Are They? The fossil fuels provided by our Earth are extremely limited due overuse by humans. Scientists thought the problem was solved with a new man-made fuel that could replace fossil fuels; they called them bio-fuels. With bio-fuels people can power cars, power factories, power houses, and power many other structures around the world. But lately these biofuels are becoming harder to come by, and they cost more than anticipated. Scientists have done several studies on why this is happening, but the answer in very clear. Although we have millions of resources on Earth we have managed to decrease those resources by more than half, and it is not all because of global warming. It is really because we have over used them as a people. Firstly, global warming should not have the full blame for the depletion of bio-fuels. Global warming is the worlds’ temperature increase, which has been found to be predominantly caused by humans as well. The “Green House Gases” aka carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide are created from our cars, industrial buildings, houses, etc. In a movie called An Inconvenient Truth the issue was that people are emitting so much carbon dioxide that for the first time, carbon dioxide levels has risen over 300 parts per million. This comes from billions of cars running cars being driven across the world and the millions of major factories being ran across the world the...

...GLOBAL WARMING: Energy, Fall 2005 v30 i4 p36(2) It could get a lot warmer. (GLOBAL WARMING) Full Text: COPYRIGHT 2005 Business Communications Company, Inc. If humans continue to use fossil fuels in a business as usual manner for the next few centuries, the polar ice caps will be depleted, ocean sea levels will rise by seven meters and median air temperatures will soar to 14.5 degrees warmer than current day. These are the stunning results of climate and carbon cycle model simulations conducted by scientists at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. By using a coupled climate and carbon cycle model to look at global climate and carbon cycle changes, the scientists found that the earth would warm by 8 degrees Celsius (14.5 degrees Fahrenheit) if humans use the entire planet's available fossil fuels by the year 2300. The jump in temperature would have alarming consequences for the polar ice caps and the ocean, said lead author Govindasamy Bala of the Laboratory's Energy and Environment Directorate. In the polar regions alone, the temperature would spike more than 20 degrees Celsius, forcing the land in the region to change from ice and tundra to boreal forests. "The temperature estimate is actually conservative because the model didn't take into consideration changing land use such as deforestation and build-out of cities into outlying wilderness areas," Bala said. Today's level of atmospheric carbon dioxide is 380 parts per million (ppm). By the year 2300, the model...

...Green Wind Energy All we hear about anymore is green this and green that along with what are you doing to contribute to the green way of living? What changes have you made in your daily life to ensure the future of our earth? A lot of information and talk centers on our energy generating techniques and safer ways it can be done without the use of fossil fuels. One of them being the use of wind energy, harness the air that it already moving around without causing anymore damage to our earth. Sounds like a reasonable request but what does it all entail… Lets do some research into how long this idea has been used and the different approaches that have been taken to make it happen. Wind is caused by sunlight unevenly heating the surface of the Earth. During the day, air over the land heats up more quickly than air over water, making it expand and rise. As it does so, cooler, denser air rushes in beneath it, creating an air current. Some giant wind currents are drive by hot air at the equator and cool air at the poles (Aldred, 2007). I was surprised to find that wind energy sources have been around since the tenth century in Persia and the thirteenth century in China. The uses focused on windmills with the grinding of grain, pumping of water and sailboats. Windmills and water mills were the largest power sources before the invention of the steam engine. The main long-term use of wind (except for sailing) has been to pump water for the irrigation of fields (Nelson, 2013,). The...

... Globalisation-Does it benefit everyone involved? Globalisation can be defined as trend towards more integrated global economy, great example of this would be EU where Free Trade is in place among the members, there is no borders separating those countries and most of its members have adopted same currency to aid trade in between its members. Every company and every person in the country is affected by globalisation due to its economic integration between countries, these countries are united in terms of trade in goods and services, investment, free movement of labour and in joint international actions for e.g. fight against pollution. Businesses take a lot of advantage from Globalisation because they can spread their operations globally, and this means that they can sell products all over the world, if necessary or cheaper to do so they have the opportunity to outsource their production to different countries where they didn’t have access to before. The speed that globalisation is occurring at is making a lot of businesses to spread as fast as possible before their competition will establish them-self’s in that country, Telecommunication industry is a great example of that, because around a decade ago most of telecommunication companies were state owned, Irish example would be Eircome. Companies like Soft Bank with a market value of $47.2Bn is a global giant in the industry, This Japanese Company is making a profit of $3.8bn a year with over 22,000 employees working there...

He encouraged the police officers and the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) to do their job. "On this quest, I will put at stake my honor, my life and presidency," the president said. Duterte emphasized that human rights must uplift dignity. On terrorism, the president said the administration will strengthen coordination with Indonesia and Malaysia. March. http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/labor/218525-faa-why-we-should-invest-today-in-airports-inc) With the latest Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) forecast predicting a doubling of passengers and cargo by 2030, the current funding system is not up to the job of ensuring airports will have the infrastructure they need to handle such dramatic increases in traffic. This will have far-reaching consequences. Commercial airports are powerful economic engines, generating 10.5 million jobs and $1.2 trillion for the U.S. economy, according to a new Airports Council International-North America study. Across the country, workers and businesses count on local airports to attract investment and move people and goods around the world. Since 2001, the total number of jobs associated with airports has increased by more than 50 percent. Despite unprecedented growth and clear evidence of the economic benefits of infrastructure investments, airports expect to have $80 billion in unmet needs through 2015 because of the flawed system...

...Climate Change and its Effects on Accounting Practices William Conder Accounting 5233 November 26, 2013 Abstract in Climate change is a subject that invokes many different opinions and reactions from different people in different regions. Although there is a general consensus in the scientific and environmental advocate communities as to that the worldwide climate is changing, specifically warming, and that the activities of man are the primary cause, as for the degree of change and the possible effects, there is anything but a consensus. There is a fairly new concept that is taught in many businesses, colleges, and universities called the triple bottom line. This is referring to the three things that businesses should concern themselves with and strive to achieve excellence in if they wish to be sustainable; they are “profit, people, and the planet” (Elkington, 1995). The purpose of this research is to find out and explore some different ways that businesses today are utilizing good sustainability practices, and dive into some other areas like accounting for carbon emissions, and also seeing how accounting for predicted outcomes might work in the business environment. The environment affects us all and any sort of change, contingency, or preparation has to be accounted for, so this work is designed to find out how it is being done, and things that could be done to improve business. The triple bottom line The age old practice of businesses being concerned strictly with...

...Manufacturing: A brief global look by ??? April 9, 2011 Manufacturing is a key component of any country’s economy and many comparisons have been made between the United States (U.S.) and other countries. Since World War II the U.S. has been the leader of the manufacturing sector due mainly to the fact that the U.S. industrial plants were not devastated by the destruction of war as where most of Europe and Asia. This paper is a team effort and will give a brief look at the state of manufacturing and some of the incentives each government has used to entice the growth of manufacturing within their respective countries. The countries to be examined are the United States, China, Germany and Japan. You hear it on the news, read it in the newspapers and see the results in the stores that manufacturing is dead in the (U.S.); however, if you do a little research you find the U.S. is still the leader in manufacturing production. As Stephen Manning of the Associated Press acknowledged in a rare “just the facts” story in mid-February, the U.S. “by far remains the world’s leading manufacturer,” producing goods valued at a record $1.6 trillion in 2007 — nearly double the $811 billion produced a decade earlier. Indeed, the AP writer noted, “For every $1 of value produced in China’s factories [in 2007], America generated $2.50.” Not bad for a country that doesn’t produce anything anymore. Some other facts about U.S. manufacturing are: •The United States is the world’s...

Address P.O. Of this roughly 8kg are incinerated and 3kg are reused by charity organisations. The remaining 4kg either accumulates (e.g. in a closet or wardrobe) or are handled through other means of waste management (e.g. recycling centres). This way of waste management is not optimal from an environmental point of view. The textile waste flows are small by weight but large by environmental impact. The production of virgin textiles give rise to about 15 kg of carbon dioxide per kg textile and uses large amount of water; energy and chemicals and poses a risk both for the environment and human health. Policies and measures to reduce the consumption of virgin textile are needed. Hindrances for a more sustainable textile waste management are primarily economical: The environmental cost is not incorporated in the production...
