Avatar is a thrilling film about humans who travel to the world of Pandora with the primary mission to mine unobtainium which sells for millions back on Earth. The conflict in the story is that the Na’vi beings who reside on Pandora do not wish to relocate so that the humans can mine the unobtainium. Jake Sully, a former Marine who is paralyzed from the waist down, is able to link himself to a Na’vi hybrid called an Avatar. His mission is to gain the trust of the Na’vi and convince them to move their camp in order for the humans to gain accesses to the unobtainium. After falling in love with a Na’vi woman, Neytiri, and their culture, Sully is unable to complete his mission which results in a full-scale war between the humans and the Na’vi. In the end, with the help of Sully and a few other humans, the Na’vi people win the war and the humans are forced to leave Pandora. Both idealist and the Na’vi wish to achieve permeant peace and believe that human nature is not directed toward conflict. The Na’vi people embody the human nature described by idealists; one that is not directed toward conflict but toward cooperation and capable of reason. Everything about the Na’vi culture is based on the idea of connection and peace. Their spiritual awareness is often the dictator of when to be peaceful. For example, when Neytiri first spied Jake, she was going to shoot him with her bow and arrow but then a jelly fish looking “creature” stops her. It is then later told that these creatures are actually very pure spirits which are seeds to the sacred tree.
