...Recycled or reclaimed water refers to the former sewage or wastewater that has undergone biological treatment to remove impurities or solids (Hurlimann 83). Essentially, people and industries can re-use recycled water to satisfy domestic, industrial, agricultural, and commercial needs. The primary purpose of recycling wastewater is to conserve water, as opposed to discharging the treated water into rivers, oceans, and other surface waters. In effect, recycling water enhances environmental sustainability since the society reduces its demand for water by reusing the water at its disposal. However, many people often cringe at the thought of using or consuming recycled water owing to concerns about its safety. Indeed, concerns over the safety of the recyclable water have led to controversy over its usage across the globe. As a result, sections of the society oppose the use of reclaimed water for both domestic and industrial use. Nonetheless, people have been using recyclable water in the last few years, as water supply becomes increasingly scarce amid a rising demand for the invaluable commodity (Seah 12). Certainly, people should consume and use recycled water since it is safe owing to the high standards of treatment and purification of the wastewater during the recycling process. Firstly, the reclaimed water undergoes high levels of treatment, which ensures that the recycled water is fit for the intended home or industrial use. Indeed, the relevant water regulatory authorities and...

Diesel exhaust fluid is used in all on road commercial diesel trucks beginning in 2007. There were four tiers of legislation passed for all new diesel motors with 174 horsepower and up which applies to trains and ships built after 2016. When the Clean Air Act was passed by the government diesel motors were required to meet strict emissions standards. ...As stated by Lewis , p , j. Project Leadership ( 2003 ) There are four different kind of Leadership styles by focusing in 2 important dimensions of leadership behavior – Task behavior and Relatioship behavior. By indicating the “ Strength “ of each dimension simply as high or low, he arrive at four combinations which can be describe as 4 different styles of Leadership as follows : Directive Leadership: In Directive-leadership style leader are more focus on task itself . Leader will explain what must be done / how to do it / and when must be done with some deadlines. Consultative Leadership : Consultative is where leader are high supportive and high emphasis on task. In consultative leader are directive but in little more supportive way. Here leader will explain what needs to be done / when it has to be done and why it has to be done by offering some supportiveness to the team memebers. Participative Leadership : High supportive but less focus on task. Here leader might say what has to be done but not so much how to do it. Delegative Leadership : Low task and low supportive behavior. Leader will told followers simply what should be done and them left them alone to figure it out how to accompolish it by team members. There is no such style as the best style when it comes to effective project mangement . It all depends on situation of the project and its followers. In addition to that its ability and willingness of followers to perform a given task. However...

...SOC3116 Notes Why is it useful to ask questions about the role of technology in society? To challenge our complacency We have become accustomed to rely on technology for the basis of communication and information gathering. Want to become aware to the extent of which this is the case Social media vs. traditional media? 1 way vs 2 way communication interaction comes from 2 way communication. The defining characteristic. Environment is critical of the use of technology. Perception of the role of television in society in the 60s and 70s tv became more widespread people though kids became addicted. Neil postman says there is always a tradeoff when it comes to new technologies * as new technologies are introduced there is always some kind of exchange you don’t always just get new technology on top of everything else. * Ex telephone when it was introduced people the viewpoint of having telephones on top of everything else is only true at the beginning. Later on our behaviors change. People don’t visit people or write letters as often * Sometimes the tradeoff is clear there are always tradeoffs the ability to see those depends on how much we are willing to speculate. * It becomes our responsibility to begin to ask ourselves what the tradeoff is * Postman says what benefits some harms others * He is saying that technology is not value neutral technology is like a hammer is a hammer good or bad? Presented as a dichotomy its either good or...

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF INNOVATIVE RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Page 310 www.ijird.com October, 2012 Vol 1 Issue 8 1. Introduction We know that our earth covered with 70% of water and 30% of land. So water occupies more space than land but 97% is the salt water and 3% is the fresh drinking water. Many technologies are developed to use salt water for producing electrical energy. The energy produced in this way is renewable energy source. Ex: salt water battery, salt water generators etc. The modern battery is found in high-tech applications ranging from hearing aids and pace-makers to pocket calculators, personal stereos, radios and mobile phones. They are everywhere and completely invaluable. The origin of the power behind the battery is chemical. In the following paper I explain...

...power plants, with nuclear power being the leading alternative. But neither source is renewable or sustainable, furthermore, nuclear energy is beset with many problems. Alternative energy refers to energy sources which are not based on the burning of fossil fuels or the splitting of atoms. There are numerous reasons for supporting alternative energy development: lower air and water pollution, reduce land disruption through mining and drilling, reduce solid and hazardous waste production and greenhouse gas emission. Only renewable energy options offer long-term hope for sustainability. Several alternative energy options already exist, such as wind, solar, wave and geothermal. I believe that we have the technology today, to power the world sustainably. Presently, nuclear energy is responsible for approximately 16 percent of the world’s electricity; in the U.S. it is the second leading source of energy next to coal. Nuclear energy is often looked at as a cleaner alternative to burning fossil fuels due to the low amounts of greenhouse gases emitted by the power plants. But the use of nuclear technology is full of security and waste-disposal problems. Despite high security standards, it is technically impossible to build a plant with 100 percent security. The consequences of an accident, like that of a meltdown, would be absolutely devastating on mankind and nature. A meltdown occurs in a...

...goal to be an energy efficient company has seen us invest in new technologies to reduce wastage and increase efficiencies. In a typical food industry, the boiler house is one of the main energy users with plain boilers having an energy efficiency of 70 – 80% depending on its usage. The following diagram provides a breakdown of the various losses that occur in a boiler: From the diagram above, it is clear significant savings can be achieved with reduced losses from Flue Gas discharge, optimising the use of excess air and automating the blow-down operations. Programme description Our partnerships with external specialists in the field of energy management have led to new opportunities to eliminate waste. These include implementing new technologies to address losses in the three mentioned areas of the boiler operations. We have installed the appropriate technologies at the Chembong Factory to recover losses in these three key areas. Energy Recovery from Flue Gas The exhaust air emitted from the boilers contains a significant amount of energy due to its high temperature that range between 250°C – 300°C. To recover this potential energy, the factory installed a heat exchanger, also known in the industry as an Economiser. Feed water flows within the tubes in the Economiser, allowing heat to transfer from the hot flue gas as it passes through the unit. This results in raising the temperature of the feed water to about 50°C which is then recycled for the boiler’s heating process...

...public health and the living environment Causes of LAND POLLUTION 1. By poor agricultural practices * Excessive use of fertilizers & pesticides. Farmers use fertilizers and pesticides in order to kill pests and have an abundant harvest, but some people use excessive amounts of fertilizers and pesticide, which causes pollution * Excessive farming, construction, overgrazing, burning of grass cover and deforestation 2. By mineral exploitation * This includes piles of coal refuse and heaps of slag and underground debris. Mining and forestry activities that clear the land surfaces (clear cutting) and use 'skid trails' often leave the land not restored. The surface is exposed to erosion which destroys the quality of the land. Additionally, iron and other chemicals such as copper, mercury and lead from mining practices leach into the soil, polluting it and leaving it exposed to water bodies as well. 3. By indiscriminate disposal of urban wastes. * The waste materials that cause land pollution are broadly classified as municipal solid waste (MSW, also called municipal refuse), construction and demolition (C&D) waste or debris, and hazardous waste. MSW includes non hazardous garbage, rubbish, and trash from homes, institutions, commercial establishments, and industrial facilities. C&D waste includes wood and metal objects, wallboard, concrete rubble, asphalt, and other inert materials produced when...
