Hsm230 Capstone Wk 9

...HSM 230 Week 9 Capstone Checkpoint A very important issue in all of our lives is health insurance. There are many facets to the issue, availability of health care being one. But another important issue for those that do have health care is privacy of medical information. Rules governing the control, manipulation, and transfer of personal medical information are governed by HIPAA. One significant quandary is that of abortion. There are many people in favor of abortion and just as many people against it. Whether or not abortion happens is just one side of the issue. The other side is disclosure. It is very difficult to know when an abortion should be disclosed to individuals close to the woman considering the abortion. In addition, when disclosure is warranted the subsequent question arises, "What people close to the young woman should be informed?” As a manager of a health service organization this situation arises often. A clear set of rules must be in place to deal with the issue. In addition these rules must be consistent with laws relating to abortion. In fact HIPAA lays the ground work for decisions in these cases. Not only does it give us guidelines on dealing with issues like abortion but more generally it is a moral code that provides a paradigm for the behavior and actions of human service workers. A statement of these rules as in HIPAA is not enough. Human service workers must be trained so that their activities are consistent with the rules. Furthermore there must accountability...

Mis-in Relation to Health

...Federal Ministry of Health: A Study into the Information Management System and How Best the Ministry can Implement FOI Ordinance 2002 Consumer Rights Commission of Pakistan (CRCP) Centre for Civic Education, Pakistan (CCE) Implementation of Freedom of Information Ordinance 2002: A Case Study of Ministry of Health 1. Freedom of information is impossible to conceive in the absence of elaborate and efficient information and data management systems. Only when such systems are in place and are effectively implemented, it can be expected that information or data required for various purposes can be retrieved and put to use to support policies or relevant decisions. Lack of such systems creates a totally undesirable situation, which leads to uninformed decisions and policies, and the consequent failure of service delivery by related agencies. The significance of information and data management is, therefore, well established, and is given utmost importance in the developed countries. It is also crucial to make citizens’ right to know feasible and operational as data and information must exist and be properly indexed before it could be made accessible to the requesters. However, many developing countries suffer from serious difficulties in connection with information and data management systems. The related problems range between sheer nonexistence of crucial data to its poor maintenance, non-indexing, and loss. This state of affairs has serious implications for relevant...

Reflective Report

...Reflective report After leaving college I had an idea that I wanted to study something in the healthcare sector. I studied medical science at college and one of my modules was biomedical science, I found that module to be very interesting and decided I want to further my knowledge. I chose biomedical science at university and have no regrets. However at the beginning I did not know what I wanted to specialise in and what path I was going to take. It all changed once I begin studying the introduction to biomedical science, as it made me understand more about each profession and how everyday life working in a specific area of biology is like. Introduction to biomedical science has most definitely changed my mind on what career I want to do once I graduate. It has given me a wide outlook of the many different directions I can go with this course and explained to me what each of them contains. Overall this module has impacted my perspective of biomedical science. By doing this course I now am confident in what profession I want to specialise. It has taught me the importance of microbiology and how much of a big role it plays in healthcare and that without the study of microbes there would be no way for cures to be found of certain infections/diseases. From doing the patient case studies it has really taught me how scientists who specialize in different biology subjects come together to diagnose a patient. For example this showed me how a haematologist, microbiologist and a...

Health

...HEALTH PROBLEMS (dentist) Health is something a person can’t live without. Health is something you get from your parents. Health is something you can’t buy. Health is one of the most important conditions which are required for the lucky life. We usually wish our dearest people to be healthy and good health is something we need most of all nowadays. Nobody will disapprove these statements. Everybody understands the importance of health nowadays. But unfortunately sometimes one can start thinking about his health only after loosing it. It’s sad. In additional to this it must be reminded that our health service system isn’t perfect. So it can’t give us the lost health back. I can’t but say of course about annual check-ups, visiting the dentist twice a year, different injections for children at school and all these are free at state polyclinics. It shows that in some way our state takes care of us all. But following the modern tendencies, our economy, more and more private clinics are appearing where health care is not free. So we have to pay for it and in my opinion it is not very bad. If we pay for our treating we are supposed to have a good one. Paying for the curious also can make us take a better care of our health. Personally I can confirm this opinion. The brightest example is last visit to the doctor. I can’t say that my health is poor, but my teeth are rather weak, that’s why they require a special treatment. As all people in the world I was awfully afraid...

Health care for me is something I looked into since I was a little kid and it led here to UPHCSA. Before coming to UPHCSA, I was guided by the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology in the Health Science Program. At that program, it allowed me to further my education in the health care field and also gave me the experience to interact with patients at a hospital called “Abington Memorial Hospital”. Each time we went to the hospital, I shadowed doctors and nurses and was able to work with patients throughout different aspects of the hospital. Being here at UPHCSA really encouraged me to work harder and choose a career that actually makes a big difference to the world; and becoming a trauma surgeon is what my ideal career would be. I chose this career because I feel that it an interesting area to work in and such a fast-pace lifestyle that will never get me tired of helping those in need and making a difference to a patient’s life.
