...Your goal is to write an essay showing how two subjects are either similar or different (not both). When comparing subjects, show how they are similar. When contrasting them, show how they are different. In a comparison/contrast paper, be sure to develop a thesis that includes words that signal comparisons, such as “although,” “even though,” “in spite of,” “except for,” “not withstanding,” or “but.” Also, use appropriate transitions to signal comparisons and link paragraphs within the body of your paper, such as “on the other hand,” “in contrast,” “similarly,” “also,” “both,” “even though,” and “in the same way.” In order for two things to be worth comparing, the two things should initially appear to be different. In order for two things to be worth contrasting, the two things should initially appear to be similar. Comparing and contrasting are ways of exploring the similarities and differences between two things. 'Compare and contrast' is often used as a development strategy for essay assignments but it's a helpful strategy for any important decisions you have to make. Generally speaking, comparing is showing the similarities, and contrasting is showing differences between two things that are related in some way. For example, you wouldn't compare/contrast reading a book to driving a car, but you would compare reading a book to reading with an e-reader. COMPARING com·pare (kəm-pâr′) v. com·pared, com·par·ing, com·pares v.tr. 1. To consider or describe as similar, equal...

...households. I am the same as an average U.S. household also. It however is 407% of the global average. My footprint is most dependant on shopping. I am higher on average shopping than both the similar the average US household and US household. My transportation brings down the average though because I don’t really fly in a plane. I might fly once every two years so my transportation emissions are down. Two things that I can change to reduce my carbon efficiency are changing my diet and purchase green electricity. Changing my diet would save me tons of money and purchasing green electricity would save about 6.31 tons. Other things that I can do that won’t have as big impact but can still help are carpooling, and adjusting my thermostat in the winter and summer. Something I would change if it were available to me right now is getting an electric car. Electric cars are too much money at this point but if it were available to me for a lower price it would save money on gas and save the environment. Also in the future I will be moving out of my house to a shared apartment and will use less of everything because I will be on more of a budget. Individual Carbon Footprint A carbon footprint is a measure of the total amount of CO2 emitted within a specific area and including greenhouse gases emitted through transportation, square footage of the area, the nature of the types of gases emitted (renewable, clean, etc. ) and the intake of goods and services. ...UCHECHI JOSHUA AUGUST 5, 2014 PROFESSOR CARBERRY – MKTG 300 BRAND ANALYSIS PROJECT MOUNTAIN DEW I. REVIEW OF SUB-CATEGORY A soft drink is a beverage that contains water or carbonated water, a sweetener (sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, or a sugar substitute), as well as a flavoring agent. Sometimes, soft drinks may contain caffeine, too. Carbonated soft drinks are the largest players in the beverage category. Within the carbonated soft drink sub-category, the leading three companies—Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and Dr Pepper Snapple Group—make up 90.6% market share for the year ending February 2014. In the United States from 2004 to 2013, the Coca-Cola Company was the leading soft drink company. In 2013, its market share amounted to 42.4 percent. This is followed by PepsiCo, which owns Mountain Dew, at 27.7%. All three national brands and the private label sector saw declines in sales ending February 2014. Due to the category of carbonated soft drink being the highlight of a lot of negative press, American consumers are becoming more concerned with obesity and the high sugar content of many of these drink, as well as the safety of artificial sweeteners. Due to innovation in other beverage categories offering flavorful, healthy, and functional drinks, competition has increased even more outside of the carbonated soft drink category. The interest is moving away from carbonated soft drinks. This has resulted in the downward trajectory of the consumption and demand for carbonates...

Strengths * Formal Education - Both, Bonnie and Stacy had formal education in management and marketing; this provides them the basic knowledge of how to manage a business. * Experience – They worked for several years in other companies acquiring the experience necessary to take on a challenge of establishing a new business. * Intimate knowledge of their core customer – As former students of the university, they have a good grasp of the people they cater to. Weakness * Location (Yes, location) – Anyone would think that the perfect location would be near the university, but I don’t think so and this is why: although the university is a good location, only have traffic during school seasons; take away summer recess, winter break, and all other holidays and off days and the opportunity to capture customers gets substantially reduced to those days when the university is open. Compare the university location against Pike Place Market, which is a business center with lots of business people and shoppers that work and shop all year around. Also, the spending power of business people is higher than that of students, thus allowing Bonnie and Stacy to offer their products at a higher price since these demographics are willing to pay a higher price for higher quality – not so with students since their disposable income is limited. One more point to ponder is the uneven flow of traffic; I can see lots of students going to Pike Place Market to shop and relax, but I don’t...
