Violent shaking of the head and upper body also can cause concussions”(Concussion Management in Football: Don't Shake It Off). Contrary to popular belief, concussions won’t always make the individual go unconscious for a period of time. Yes, that is true, but not all the time. Chris Miller, a retired quarterback, experienced the effects of a concussions when “he was knocked out of bounds and flew headfirst into equipment storage bins on the sideline. He got up and walked back to the huddle. The wrong huddle. Miller was confused, an effect of the concussion” (Concussion Management in Football: Don't Shake It Off). ...gladiator. People want to see the big hits. They wind up on Sports Center. And as a player, you don’t want to admit you are injured.” - Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson. This quote explains that players don't always admit or realize when they have a concussion or a head injury whenever they receive them and that they can hurt them badly. Concussions and head injuries in football aren't something new and happen all the time on the field. Players are constantly getting hurt from big hits to their head in the NFL and aren’t always showing the big picture of this. Even though fans of the game of football won't be as amused if there were new rules of less hard hits in the upper region of the body, the NFL should be more aware of players getting hurt from constant blows to the head because this can affect their mental mindset in the future and players can get severely hurt....
