Before we actually start, id like you to take a look at us today, this hour, this minute, this very second. Are we at peace with ourselves or with the individual next to us?Yes. So are we a peaceful species at heart? Yes. Don't mention the Egypt crisis please, thats a different issue and its just a minor percentage of the worlds' population.
Yes throughout out history we have fought like maniacs, but are we peaceful deep inside? I think we could be, its just environmental factors or lack of knowledge in my view, like religion, race, territory, wealth and of course the natural factors like envy and jealousy, etc. We need people who can sit still and be able to smile, who can walk peacefully. We need people like that in order to save us. You are that person. I am that person. We are the peace the world needs. We are angels experiencing humanity.

You wouldn't know it by current world events, but humans actually evolved to be peaceful, cooperative and social animals. Early man was not an aggressive killer nor fighter, he was a talker. It was just the natural instinct for survival. If they didn't hunt they would end up being cannibals and that's definitely not peaceful. Our intelligence, cooperation and many other features we have as modern humans developed from our attempts to out-smart the predator.

Although great freedom fighters did use weapons to free life but the explicit idea and technique of non-violence evolved by Gandhiji was miraculous. Non-violence had been the strongest weapon through which the Indians achieved their independence. It was not through the force of power or use of arms that we achieved freedom but non-violence. Wars have contributed to the rise of terrorism and insurgency. But these wars are outcomes of just a few self-centered villains and miscreants. Look at the prisoners all around the world? They are only about 1% of the world's total population. Now think of how peaceful we are.

Being peaceful at heart is a highly civilized attitude. It can be achieved by adopting a special attitude in life. The supreme peace is the ultimate goal that everyone seeks day in and day out, but it is only sought through the wrong means. Gaining of objects, fulfilling of pleasures, acquiring of wealth and possessing of power are some of the means employed to gain this peace. Think of civilization and technology? What do you think made these possible today? Its obviously teamwork and cooperation. What makes teamwork and cooperation possible? Its obviously peace. So once again, we are peaceful species.

Life is not all about wars and fights. Gaining wealth and power is not the only motive that an individual is born with. In our lives while stressful situations can be daunting, we may want to remember that our attitudes usually determine the quality of our experiences. If we consciously choose to keep a peaceful focus today, we will be able to concentrate on one task at a time during the day and thus release tension throughout the course of our day. This will ultimately enable us to work productively and make steady progress on our tasks.

A peaceful mind-set can enhance our focus, increase our energy, and improve our productivity. It is easy to forget that we have complete control over our mind-set in every situation, and our own thoughts make the biggest difference in any activity undertaken by us. By consciously choosing to remain calm, serene and peaceful regardless of the intensity of our circumstances, we give ourselves the ability to look beyond our fears and frustrations. Being at peace is not an exercise that an individual should practice but inculcate as a part of one’s own nature and live with it. The habit of making peace with the environment, surrounding and individuals can only come with the right attitude in life.

The human hand is used wonderfully for ever so many constructive tasks. It builds houses, plants trees, tenderly holds babies and contributed towards productive work. But if a man uses his hands to strangle another person, could we charge that one person on behalf of the rest of the world? I personally don't think so. We have a conscience. We crave forgiveness. We are naturally loving and compassionate. We feel sympathy. We take passionate care of each other. All this makes us peaceful and you cannot deny it nor argue against it.

...Argumentative Essay on Dating September 28, 2011 by jmssilverstone · No Comments · Argumentative Essay Samples In the men’s world today, a lot of the husbands still think making money is their responsibility, while housekeeping, cooking, and taking care of the children are the responsibilities of their wives, regardless if they have daily jobs or not. Therefore, women are doing a lot of extra works and accumulating a lot of stress, while the men are relaxing with beers and chips watching television. But now days some husbands are doing all the works at home, in exchange for respect and obedience from their wives when they are outside with friends. The perception of how men and women see each other from now and before time has changed drastically. Even the aspect of the dating point of view has changed. Men are out for either lust or love and usually do not mix them up. When a man is out for lust, all that he really desires from her is sex. He does not take her seriously and does not have intentions of ending up with her. He basically is just in it for fun. When a man is out for love, he will wait much longer because he desires more than just sex. He desires her. Then, one of the things a man prefers is purity. The reason why a man prefers purity is because he does have or could have feelings for her. When a man is in love with a woman and she has never been with another man, it will make him feel good. But when a man is in love with a woman and she has been with other men,...

Copying Isn't Cool Critique

...Copying Isn't Cool In the article "Copying Isn't Cool," the author Scott Matthews (n.d.), a software developer argues that pirating copyrighted material is a serious issue today that is immoral and should be stopped. Though he is open to discussion, he argues against the system of compensation for copyright holders proposed by EFF that suggests that all downloads be taxed, claiming that it would encourage file-sharing to an extent that it becomes unstoppable. It would also compromise free speech and privacy which would go against the claimed ideologies of the EFF itself. The article was well-organized, easy to read and quite persuasive because the reasoning was good; however, it lacked sufficient evidence in some places. The author seems a fairly open minded person and this is reflected in the article. He does not have a mind-set against changing file-sharing laws but rather proposes a debate in this regard. He is fairly authoritative in voicing his opinion and has a right to do so because being a software developer himself, he is well aware of the problems faced and the losses that a digital author has to bear due to the willful ignorance of people engaging in the practice of file-sharing. His tone is quite effective in the article, and though a little informal, works to his advantage because it gives a personal touch to it that appeals to the reader, and adds on to the persuasiveness of the article. The language and vocabulary used is fairly simple and easy to read,...

Critique

...Critical Response of the article, “Copying isn’t Cool” by Scott Matthews In the article "Copying Isn't Cool," the author Scott Matthews, a software developer addresses the issue of sharing copyrighted files. The author believes that such an act hurts the right of owners and stopping or changing the copyright laws will only cause more confusion and chaos. Thus, such laws need to remain the same and be enforced instead. The author’s purpose in writing this essay is to persuade the people who support the decision proposed by EFF to change the copyright laws that such an act does more harm than good. The author was successful in persuading the readers as the article was well-organized, easy to read and quite persuasive because the reasoning was good; however, it lacked sufficient evidence in some places, and was bias. The article mainly argues that pirating copyrighted material is a serious issue today that is immoral and should be stopped. ...obsession with 'likes'? Why are we becoming so dependent on the 'likes' we get on social media for approval of things we wish to do in life? We might be getting 100s of likes on our posts and pictures but since we've raised the bar so high, imagine the plight of those people who fail to get 'likes' on their pictures and posts- their self-esteem and confidence will be shattered. If they don't get 'likes' on their pictures/posts which in 'their opinion' is the best (no one would put up something which in their opinion isn't good), they'd start hating themselves and might also run into depression. They start copying the so-called 'cool people' on facebook who get 100s of likes on their posts/pictures and in this process, they also run the danger of losing their own individuality and identity. They try to be someone else. In this sense, we're breeding herd mentality among our youth through Social Media. I always tell people, being part of the crowd can be all 'cool and fun' but the crowd always follow the ones who stand out. Through this post, I wish to give voice to those so-called 'average people' on facebook who might not have 100s of likes on their posts and pictures but have beautiful, energetic young minds full of new ideas. Be what you are! You don't need a handful of 'likes' to get the society's approval. Be original and add 'your' value to the world, we have enough 'copies' around. We don't need to beg for 'likes' through personal messages, friendly calls or texts- realize...

When I looked back into this week, it went incredibly quick, it was Friday before I knew it. When I took a second glance at why my week was so bad, I realize, the only reason it was shitty was because of me. That took a lot to admit. So without further ado, my week. He is known as the best living artist of his generation. His current work is based on Pantheo Vortex. Second, what i've noticed that my artist does sculptors of animals. I've also noticed that he does paintings of the past. When i look at his paintings i think of the times when they would draw on the walls. His style seems soft but then again feels bold and heavy. His artwork isn't really satisfying to look at, in my opinion. His art is more realistic than abstract. I wasn't drawn to my artist, i couldn't find any that I really liked...

Plastic Bags Don’t Suit You

...Plastic Bags Don’t Suit You: A campaign to reduce plastic bag use Plastic bags, invented in the 1930s, were first introduced to super markets in 1977. In the following decades, they have spread all over the world. Currently, almost 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide every year (Warner, 2010). This waste can be considered as a symbol of consumerism. Meanwhile, it’s also the evidence of our ignoring the environment. In the past half century, efforts have been made to reduce or even eliminate the use of plastic bags. Until now, the global use of plastic bags has been on the rise, according to The Culvert Chronicles (2011). That’s why this national campaign needs to be launched. It’s time to declare a war against the plastic bags. And with the assistance of multiple cognitive theories, it’s not hard to win this war. Harm of massive plastic bag use Plastic bags are usually made from oil. In the US alone, an estimate that about 12 million barrels of oil were needed to meet the US citizens’ needs of 100 billion plastic bags in the year 2001 (Jenkins, 2011). And if we think about the global situation, the oil consumption resulted from modern society’s addiction to single-use plastic bags can be a major contributor to global warming (Khoo, H.H., & Tan, R.B.H., 2010). Moreover, oil is not renewable, and our attempts of finding new alternative energy haven’t been proved effective so far. Both manufacturing and recycling plastic bags generates toxic gases, like compounds of...

Digital Music Era

...RIAA and Associated Record Companies: Embrace the Digital Music Era Our forms of music have drastically changed in correlation to current cultural advances. We have gone from vinyl records to cassettes, which were very popular in the 1970s followed by the revolutionary digital technology of a compact disc. Now, we are in an era that is progressively becoming more and more digitized with different audio formats through the Internet. Every day, thousands of people with a computer or access to one participate in peer-2-peer networks to share digitized formats of music, videogames, movies or other applications (“Peer-to-Peer File-Sharing”). The shift of music from compact discs to mp3’s has financially affected the music industry. Not only is money lost on the decreasing sales of outdated CD’s, but also on litigation circling the issues of copyright. Any downloaded music, videogames, movies, or applications from peer-2-peer networks sites are protected by copyright law and once downloaded are now considered copyright infringed. Over the years, The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and its associated record companies have taken much time and spent a good amount of money to conduct investigations and prosecute individuals involved in illegal music file sharing and copyright infringement. However, the Internet has proven to move faster than the prosecutions of individuals responsible for illegal music downloading, which, in the long run, has had very little effect...

Rubens and Rembrandt

...Rembrandt vs. Rubens Andrew Ulrich Prof. Hutson ART 38716-ART IN THE AGE OF REMBRANDT AND RUBENS 1/22/15 Peter Paul Rubens and Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn were two of the most famous and successful painters in 17th century Europe. Rubens was a Flemish Baroque painter and was admirably recognized for his Counter-Reformation altarpieces, portraits, landscapes and historical paintings of mythological characters. Rembrandt was a Dutch painter and printmaker, who was also known for his etching. His greatest successes are told through his portraits of the people who surrounded his life, his self-portraits and paintings of scenes in the Bible. Both artists received a traditional education and then continued their education with several apprenticeships to learn the basics of art and painting. These artists were treated with immense success in the 17th century, especially considering the amount of turmoil that was happening with the ‘Eighty Year War’ happening all around them. The journey to success contained personal triumphs and setbacks for both artists, albeit each journey was draped with divergence. The differences between upbringing and lifestyle of each artist led to a different approach to their paintings as well as a different style of art in general. One main difference between artists is that Rubens chose to travel to Italy to study Italian art and culture, Rembrandt elected to stay-put in Amsterdam to continue his studies. This factor, as well as many other differences...
