These interconnected devices are designed to take tasks and make them as efficient as possible, thus freeing up time to perform more tasks and get more out of the day, even if the purpose of the device is to help pass the time by. With this ever evolving landscape of technology has created a new wave of interconnected devices. We can access internet virtually anywhere and once we are connect to the internet the possibilities are nearly limitless. As internet as become the backbone to our connected ways we can utilizes it to connect to our corporate office database that is held in a cloud system via a direct connection or a virtual private network (VPN) or even remotely access and control our office computer and we can even do these same things for small home networks, all with just a connected device.
With technology becoming an everyday piece of@#$()*+## life comes more challenges for IT managers in enterprise environments. IT managers not only have to figure out how to implement new technologies and software as they emerge into the workplace in an efficient and effective fashion while maintaining fiscal restraint and while staying on top of the latest business trends such as bring-your-own-device (BYOD) but also how to

... A storage device may be used to store energy from renewable energy source in DC form which can be converted to AC power by using power inverter. Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) technique may be used to control output rms voltage of the inverter. As the load is variable, the power consumed by the load (PL) may be smaller than the power generated from the renewable energy source (PR). Therefore a Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) Controller may be used to supply the additional power (PR – PL) from the renewable energy source to the grid. On the other hand if the power consumed by the load (PL) is greater than the power generated from the renewable energy source (PR) therefore the same FACTS controller may be used to absorb the additional power (PR – PL) from the grid to the load. In this case the FACTS controller must allow bi-directional power flow. If all the active houses are connected to the grid in the same way (proposed way), the active houses that generate more power than the load can be supplied to the active houses that generate less power than the load. Therefore a suitable FACTS controller should be designed in such a way that it can control the power flow in both directions. The idea is illustrated in the following figure. 1.2 Objectives: • Study on different FACTS controllers • Study on different renewable energy sources • Study on different energy storage devices • Study...

...culture instead of a brand. While they still focused on innovation, they weren’t he first ones to create a computer or cellphone, but essentially they mastered it and made their software as attractive as possible to their consumers. I feel as if apple can stay with the innovation attitude, but I feel as if they have established themselves to the point where consumers don’t look at their products in being different anymore because of all the current competition in the tech market. Also consumers feel like owning an apple product is a luxury item, because of the current price points their products sell at. With the always changing, fast paced, tech market I feel like the direction apple should be going towards is cross platform compatibility while continuing to be the standard in the tech world. Meaning that your watch is connected to your phone, which is connected to your tablet, which connected to your laptop, which can be connected to a variety of other future devices. Focusing on the ease of use and the ease of switching between devices’ can help apple in the long run, as many products basically have the same functions. As stated in the...

...show how a circuit is connected together. The actual layout of the components is usually quite different from the circuit diagram. To build a circuit you need a different diagram showing the layout of the parts on stripboard or printed circuit board. Wires and connections Component Circuit Symbol Wire Function of Component To pass current very easily from one part of a circuit to another. A 'blob' should be drawn where wires are connected (joined), but it is sometimes omitted. Wires connected at 'crossroads' should be staggered slightly to form two Tjunctions, as shown on the right. In complex diagrams it is often necessary to draw wires crossing even though they are not connected. I prefer the 'bridge' symbol shown on the right because the simple crossing on the left may be misread as a join where you have forgotten to add a 'blob'! Wires joined Wires not joined Power Supplies Component Cell Circuit Symbol Function of Component Supplies electrical energy. The larger terminal (on the left) is positive (+). A single cell is often called a battery, but strictly a battery is two or more cells joined together. Battery DC supply AC supply Fuse Transformer Earth (Ground) Supplies electrical energy. Electrochemistry: the Galvanic Cell

...electrochemistry to actual experiments, (2) understand the processes and elements of an electrochemical cell and (3) determine the spontaneity of reduction-oxidation (redox) reactions based on standard reduction potential. Different half-cells were prepared and connected to copper, which served as the reference electrode, to set up a voltaic cell. The volt-meter readings of the set-ups were then used to calculate for the standard reduction potentials of the variable half-cells. The results obtained from the experiment indicated the spontaneity of the redox reactions investigated, showing that the least spontaneous system is that connected to another copper half- while the most spontaneous system is that connected to the Zinc half-cell. Introduction: Electrochemistry is the study of the relationships between chemical reactions and electricity. The functionality of every portable electronic device you own, whether it be your laptop, Ipod, or cell phone, is made possible by electrochemical reactions. Fundamental oxidation/reduction reactions occur inside the batteries of these devices. Chemists and engineers all over the world are searching for ways to improve the technology by developing materials, which will make the batteries for these devices cheaper, more lightweight, and longer lasting. Electrochemical reactions can be spontaneous or non-spontaneous. We will build on the principles we learned from the thermodynamics unit to determine if an electrochemical process is spontaneous. If it...

Mechatronics

...general-purpose microprocessor. In addition to the usual arithmetic and logic elements of a general purpose microprocessor, the microcontroller typically integrates additional elements such as read-write memory for data storage, read-only memory, such as flash memory for code storage and permanent data storage memory, peripheral devices, and input/output interfaces. Microcontrollers often operate at very low speed compared to modern day microprocessors, but this is adequate for many typical applications. They consume relatively little power (milliwatts), and will generally have the ability to sleep while waiting for an interesting peripheral event such as a button press to wake them up again to do something. Power consumption while sleeping may be just nanowatts, making them ideal for low power and long lasting battery applications. Microcontrollers are frequently used in automatically controlled products and devices, such as automobile engine control systems, remote controls, office machines, appliances, power tools, and toys. By reducing the size, cost, and power consumption compared to a design using a separate microprocessor, memory, and input/output devices, microcontrollers make it economical to electronically control many more processes. This chapter will present a foundation for new engineers interested in Microcontroller application. The chapter starts with the basic electrical concepts that may be many of reader will be familiar with. The idea behind that is to give...
