Dance Captain

The term captain is synonymous with the term leader. By definition, a leader is someone who is in an advanced position to take the initiative in order to go forth and show the way. Few will have the opportunity to feel the weight of the responsibilities and the happiness of knowing you're making a difference. Being a leader of any type of organization in my eyes is a huge job.
It’s teaching respect by showing respect. It’s one thing to be a good dancer, but it's another to be a good captain. A captain must have dedication to the team and patience for when others need help and I believe I have these qualities. The captain should also have goals set in mind for the team to improve and my goals I have set for the Bellevedettes are as follows: become more of a team, become better role models for our school and just help them become the best dancers they can be so at state competition they can feel like they are the best dancers that they can be. Dance teams are all about unity. The dancers need to learn and understand that we should be moving as one. There are no individual standouts. There should not be any of the "I can't do this so I'm going to do it my way" excuses. If the dancer feels like she could not do a move I will be there to help them. It’s helping girls, including myself, strive and push themselves to be the best dancers I know we all can be. Having this title doesn’t mean being the boss of everyone, being in the front in every dance, or just thinking that the captain should come before everyone else. Captains are the inspiration of the team. They’re the person that everyone on the team looks up too. As captain of the dance team, you will definitely encounter some sticky situations. We practice in a very public place with people always walking or interrupting our practices therefore people always see the way we act. This to me could hurt the dance team reputation if we are

constantly yelling at each other and not getting along. Even if you don't like someone you should be mature enough to get along with them for only two hours of your day. I think as captain I could help the team be better role models by having a talk at the beginning of the season about the issues we have had in the past with attitudes and talking back and try to move forward from that in a positive and productive way. This in turn will hopefully help the dancers be able to be the best dancers they can be because they will not have to worry about someone else judging them when they might be struggling with something in the dance or in any situation.
Being a captain requires you to focus on the big picture, doing what’s best for the team even on your worst days. If you’re negative, the team will take on the same attitude, even if everyone else has had a great day. Trying to stay positive and not letting out your stress on the team will help make things run smoother. I think if I was captain I could achieve all the goals listed above and help improve the team as a whole.

Bucky's First Kiss

...Just Steve, and his persistent audacious demeanor that now attracted Bucky’s concern. — The world would be horrified to find Captain America dead at his own hand. Nothing hurt the Captain, a perfectly resilient icon. Steve Rogers, however, has been hurting all his life. When he was younger, he had dismissed the ache as something he would become acclimated with, pushed it away to serve as second throb to match his heart. When it demanded attention Steve banished it with smiles and a constant monologue reminding himself that he was fine. When he couldn’t eradicate it, he subdued it. When he could not longer subdue it, he angled that plane in downward direction and closed his eyes. Almost as though enacting revenge for his attempt annihilate it, it awoke with him, stronger than before, bringing its ally, guilt. So Steve replaces a plane with silent pleas to robots and villains to rewrite his ending for him. Even after regaining Bucky, the ache and guilt that had made a comfortable home in Steve didn’t depart, it was rooted far too deeply. Instead it only expands its living, each time Bucky shields his tears, or disputes the ravages of a nightmare. It reminds him in a deafening voice, your hand was just inches away, you let him fall. This is your fault. When the voice is your own, it's hard to dispute. And so Steve's dance with death persists, reckless behavior akin to simply jumping in front of a speeding car. Each battle alongside his teammates he...

Personal Narrative: The Words That Define Me

...Dedicated and versatile are two words that define me as a person. Because I’ve been involved in everything from softball to dance to leadership organizations, I naturally learned to multi-task. In a way I consider time-management and organization two of my biggest strengthens. These two traits have been essential to my development and have allowed me to successfully participate in many activities throughout these four years of high school. Since I was a little girl, I always had a passion for dancing. I began dancing at age three at family gatherings, and have continued ever since then. It was not only something I enjoyed but an art I wanted to perfect. I even performed at national competitions. For three years of my life, I attend a dance studio, six days a week, constantly learning new techniques and preparing for competitions. My routine consisted of: slamming the alarm clock at 6:00 am, school all day, home for lunch, practice until all my pirouettes and leaps caused my feet to ache, hours of homework, and went to bed exhausted to repeat it all the following day. Throughout this routine I...

Dance Application Research Paper

...I am interested in bringing my talents to your organization. I am not your average student. I differ from the norm through my love for dancing, color guard, music, and makeup. Dance has been a passion of mine since I was young. As a child, I danced in my living room, as my mom played Spanish music. Sometimes I grabbed brooms or mops to dance with. I never cared how I looked because of my passion. I’ve always enjoyed dance as a way of self-expression through movement and music: two of my favorite things. Choreographing a routine is letting all the stress and negative vibes you have vanish. The music speaks to me as I create moves to fit the song. Currently, I am listening to classical music, picturing myself performing a lyrical routine. Loving dance and music is an amazing concept that attracted me to join Color Guard....

Each fall, new choreographers are recruited by the company to teach their choreographies, or reconstruction works of other choreographers, for the Fall Dance Concert. Each spring, the students have the opportunity to choreograph a piece for the Spring Dance Concert. These student choreographed pieces are then either presented in the concert, which is what most choreographer strive for, or in the show case, which is only held on a Sunday. Due to this either/or situation, the choreographers contend with each other to secure a spot in the concert, therefore galvanizing competition,...

In the case of Ramsgate Victoria Hotel Co Ltd v Montefiore, the applicant had applied for shares but was not told until a certain date that his offer had been accepted and allocated to him. Now the balance owing on the shares was due. So the applicant refused to pay and the company threatened to sue him alleging breach of contract. It was stated that the offer to purchase shares had not been accepted within a reasonable time and the offer had therefore lapsed. Therefore, no contract was created. Thus, Peter Pan revocation letter of offer by post is effective as against Captain Hook. Fighting for the red, white, and blue he is living symbol for freedom, but don't confuse him with the president. Captain America- despite him being a super soldier- provides idealistic life and morality: he is a strong role model for americans and always views things on the bright side, while being a great leader. He is not only the best superhero ever but gives hope to everyone and provides a positive message on never giving up. He started from the bottom of the pit and never gave up; he became the best “man” he could, even though he had a little help from science. Transforming his life to be accepted, volunteering to become a super soldier, accepting his new reality, Captain America never gives up. People look up to him because he started off not accepted by societies view; he was a scrawny malnourished man that got rejected multiple times. Even though he had the help of military science, the olympic athlete abilities and physical attractiveness gave people hope that if they never give up they can succeed at anything they want. He is still human though. “ But we are also human beings, with feelings and emotions.” (page 59 Our Superhero Ourself) says Captain America, this shows people that even though he has this special ability he can relate to how humans feel and how tough it is to over come that specific standard. People can relate to him after the science experiment just...

Bucky: A Short Story

...BOY HOWDY. CAN I???? Bucky and the reader have been dating for a while and recently moved into an apartment together in the Avengers tower. Reader was in charge of the decorating and didn’t keep Bucky’s arm in mind when decorating their fridge and wakes up to a rather hilarious surprise. I purposely didn't specify the gender of the reader so, yeah, anyone can be the reader. “Y/N!” you heard your new housemate shouting from somewhere in the apartment. You scrambled out of bed and followed his voice. Bucky rarely shouted so when he did you knew it was important. Maybe something was wrong? Something always was around here. It’s like you guys never got a break. You practically sprinted into the kitchen and skidded to a stop. “Bucky what’s wrong?” you asked, out of breath. You looked at him and he had a very distressed look on his face. “You promise not to laugh?” he asked. You quirked up an eyebrow. If someone was wrong why would you laugh? “No….” you trailed. Let’s be honest. If whatever he was talking about was funny, you were gonna laugh. He rolled his eyes at you and slowly held out his metal arm. You examined it quickly then erupted into a fit of laughter. “Y/N!” Bucky pouted. “It isn’t funny!” You forced yourself to stop laughing so loudly and covered your mouth with your hand. You couldn’t help but snicker. Bucky had managed to get every refrigerator magnet you’d bought, stuck to his arm. “Okay, okay, I’m sorry,” you said, still snickering. “You're right it’s not funny...

Juice

...Nutrition Drive- Juice What is Nutrition Drive? Ask a captain or a person who regularly spends his/her evening on a sports field/court, you’ll certainly hear the problem of the not-so-nutritious diet made available to them in their hall mess & canteen. Our campus provides quality food at hostel level, no doubt. But those people who follow a rigorous routine of workouts, gym, road-running, weekly matches, this mess food doesn’t guarantee the total nutrition that should be. Nutrition drive is being initiated with this motive only. The Games & Sports Council wants every deserving player of its contingent to get the maximum benefit. How to begin? Every 6 days a week, from 8 30 to 9 30pm a juice stall would be booked in front of hall 3, specifically for sports people. The stall owner would be given a list of captain’s & vice-captain’s name on it. Students who are regular in practice and have attended the practice session on that day can avail this facility, this would be done under the supervision of the captain or the vice-captain, one of them has to be present along with them. Every sport that our campus students play has a different strength than the other. To account for this, number of students who can benefit from this activity would be limited & the thing most important to this, only regular students can utilize this opportunity. There can be 3 different types of Juices that can be provided, namely pineapple, orange & any other seasonal fruit...
