When Recruiting Is Too Costly

...includes thinking twice about flying or driving to college campuses to interview prospective employees. That doesn’t mean recruiters have stopped communicating with students. In more and more cases, it does mean the conversation may take place over a distance, using state-of-the-art technology. The interview setup can be as simple as two laptops loaded with Skype software, which allows phone calls and webcam images to be transmitted over the Internet. Or it may involve thousands of dollars’ worth of videoconferencing equipment for a more natural approach. At Liberty Mutual Group, recruiting director Ann Nowak visits a few schools where the company has strong relationships and has found a good pool of talent. But she says, “Sometimes I get inquiries from very strong candidates in the top 10 percent of their class” at other schools, and she doesn’t want them to slip away. Although the insurance company is growing and hiring sales representative, Nowak can’t afford to fly across the country for a handful of interviews, so she has set up an online recruiting and selection system. Students at distant schools can view online presentations about the kinds of positions the company has available. And when an interested prospect seems like he or she might be a good match. Nowak can use Web-based interviewing to narrow her choices. The company invites those who survive the cut to fly to head-quarters for an interview. ...Carpinteria, California (CNN) -- Prince William and his polo team won a round-robin match Saturday, garnering them a sterling silver and gold trophy -- weighing 14.7 pounds in the precious metals -- after he scored four goals in the final game. His team won the pivotal game 5-3. "A storybook ending here at Santa Barbara!" the announcer told hundreds of spectators at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club. To My Kids

...To my kids, Tomorrow is a big day. Fourth Grade, Middle School, and High School – wow! Kids-- When I was in third grade, there was a little boy in my class named Adam. Adam looked a little different and he wore funny clothes and sometimes he even smelled a little bit. Adam didn't smile. He hung his head low and he never looked at anyone at all. Adam never did his homework. I don't think his parents reminded him like yours do. The other kids teased Adam a lot. Whenever they did, his head hung lower and lower and lower. I never teased him, but I never told the other kids to stop, either. And I never talked to Adam, not once. I never invited him to sit next to me at lunch, or to play with me at recess. Instead, he sat and played by himself. He must have been very lonely. I still think about Adam every day. I wonder if Adam remembers me? Probably not. I bet if I'd asked him to play, just once, he'd still remember me. I think that God puts people in our lives as gifts to us. The children in your class this year, they are some of God's gifts to you. So please treat each one like a gift from God. Every single one. If you see a child being left out, or hurt, or teased, a part of your heart will hurt a little. Dink and I want you to trust that heartache. Your whole life, we want you to notice and trust your heartache. That heartache is called compassion, and it is God's signal to you to do something. It is God saying, Bethany, William, Brendan! Wake up! One of my babies is hurting...

Today, I will tell you about her early childhood, relationship with William, and current life as Duchess of Cambridge. In 1987, Carole Middleton launched a family business called Party Pieces when Kate was five years old. This successful business that sold children’s party gear made the Middleton family millionaires. The success of party pieces enables the Middleton’s to send their children to expensive boarding schools. Andrew Morton, in his book, William and Catherine: Their Story writes that Kate was bullied at Downs House, the all girls school she attended. According to the biography.com website, she...

Hope

...Hopes and Aspirations We all have dreams. They are our hopes and aspirations. We all dreams of something, whether it be growing up to be rich and famous, marrying that one person of our dreams, or anything else we wish to accomplish. Dreams are the pleasant images that pass through our mind during slumber. The bottom line is we all have dreams and one day we hope to accomplish them For the most part people believe the cliche that dreams do come true. Obviously everyone wants their dreams to come true, because we have this impression that dreams are supposed to be these wonderful and magical visions. When we have a bad dream, we give it a totally different name, we call it a nightmare. When we have a good dream, we do not have a separate name for that. So this gives dreams a positive connotation. Most people are fine with this, and do not think anything of it. The etymology of the word actually means something quite different. The word dream originates from a German word, which actually means to deceive or delude. It also has to do with ghost or apparition. Somewhere along the way the word changed from something that had negative connotation to a more peaceful and happy word. I do not believe that the phrase dream should keep its positive association with out having some negative side. What I find very strange is, the meaning of the German word that dream derives from is not found in any English dictionary today. It can only be found when searching for the etymology of the...

She was the youngest daughter of Edward John Spencer and Frances Ruth Burke Roche, the Viscount and Viscountess Althorp (Encyclopedia Britannica). Her father had been a royal equerry for both King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II, making them close to the royal family (BBC). Unfortunately, Diana’s parents split up when she was six. Still, that didn’t stop her in becoming Lady Diana Spencer when her father earned the title Earl Spencer (Encyclopedia Britannica). Lady Diana was sent to boarding school, eventually attending West Health Public School in Kent where she excelled at sports, particularly...
