...Dietician By Luis Morfin Pd. 1 Dietitians are health professionals who study and apply the principles of nutrition and food management. There are several kinds of dietitians and nutritionists. The largest group is made up of administrative dietitians. Administrative dietitians manage food services in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, restaurants, industrial plants, military bases, and other institutions. They plan and direct the purchase and preparation of food, as well as supervise other food service workers. Administrative dietitians ensure that the meals served are nutritious, appetizing, and within the institutions budget. The educational requirement is a bachelor's degree is typically the least amount of education needed to become a dietitian, or nutritionist. Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees are available in many colleges and universities across the country. Graduate degrees are needed to perform research. The national test cost about 100.00 dollars. Employment of dietitians and nutritionists is expected to increase 9 percent during the 2006-16 projection decade, about as fast as the average for all occupations. ...Registered Dietitians and Liability Issues Liability Issues Affecting Registered Dietitians: Measures to Avoid and Prevent Negligence For this application paper, the allied health care professional I chose as the subject is a Registered Dietitian. According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, “a Registered Dietitian (RD) is a food and nutrition expert who has met the minimum academic and professional requirements to qualify for the credential RD” (Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, 2015). The main responsibilities for an RD is to learn about the patient’s health, history, diet, and how often they exercise. Once they know all of this information, they are able to help individuals create and establish goals. The patient then has to make sure they visit their RD to monitor their progress. Patients could visit his or her RD at a hospital, private practice, health care organization or facility. Most of the Registered Dietitian’s have a graduate degree and are certified in fields such as renal, pediatrics, food allergy, or sports (Ansel, 2014). Since they have gone through highly specialized training, they are expected to undertake new challenges by diving into practice areas they are unfamiliar with. One of these challenges is to try and avoid being held liable for professional negligence. A myriad of cases that involve RD is when he or she fails to act in a reasonable manner. In order to prove that negligence it is essential to know the main reason behind...

...Before interviewing the campus nutritionist, Dana Faris R.D., I never knew how diverse and unique the field of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics was. She explained to me that there were many career choices within the field that I could explore before choosing to become a Clinical Nutritionist. In fact, many areas of study will be emphasized and explored while completing the required internship. An example would be becoming a Dietetic Technician or “DTR” for short. Someone with this title works under a registered dietician as their assistant. This career entails things like: organizing meal plans, consultation and educating patients in making healthier choices on their own. A Dietetic Technician does, however, have different educational requirements in comparison to, say, a Clinical Nutritionist for example. A DTR typically needs at the minimum an associate degree with either a high school diploma or an equivalency. In my interview with Ms. Faris, she mentioned to me that becoming a DTR is quite manageable for someone still working toward their penultimate educational goals, for the training only lasts a few months to a full year. The benefit of working in this position is that upon completion, it is considered a “recognized apprenticeship.” This would serve best to those who are looking to pad their resume so they can move further up in the world of my selected field of study. According to O*NET, a possible salary for a DTR in Texas could reach up to $26,000 annually, or around $12...

...Critique of Research Article Name Instructor Unit Date Medical articles can be well analyzed based on the content, the reputation of the authors among other useful information. However, it is paramount that evidence based practice (EBP) be adopted when analyzing an article. According to Sackett et al (1996, pg 71-72) “Evidence based medicine is the conscientious, explicit, and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients”. The best available and current research is utilized in making a judgment about the article in question (Drisko and Grady2012). The research article, Healthcare Providers’ Intentions to Engage in an Interprofessional Approach to Shared Decision-Making in Home Care Programs: A Mixed Methods Study by Legare et al., presents views of the healthcare providers in the implementation of the interprofessional approach to shared decision-making (IP-SDM). In addition, it evaluates their intention for engaging in the program. The IP-SDM program has been gaining popularity in Canada but it is yet to be incorporated into the healthcare system (Reeves et al., 2008) Interprofessional approach entails the engagement of different professionals within the healthcare system, where all contribute towards the achievement of a common method of patient care. In addition, the aspect of shared decision-making entails the development of a system that involves the patients in determining the type of treatment that is given...

...Graduate School Writing a research proposal for a PhD or MPhil application: A guide for potential students Some Schools and Departments may require you to write an outline research proposal and submit this with your application to study for a PhD or MPhil. The content and structure of the proposal will inevitably vary depending on the discipline area and the nature of the project you wish to pursue. In some cases you may be provided with some guidance in terms of what information should be included in the proposal and, if this is the case, you should read this carefully and follow it. However, where this is not the case, the general guidance, and suggested headings, provided here should help you to structure and present your ideas clearly in your proposal. Your overall aim is to produce a research proposal that is clear and coherent in every respect. You should therefore avoid the use of overly long sentences and of technical jargon. It is important that the proposed research is realistic and feasible so that the outcomes can be achieved within the scale of a typical research degree programme, which is typically three years full-time for a PhD (or two years for an MPhil). Although you should write the proposal yourself, it is best if you discuss its contents with your proposed supervisor before you submit it. Your research question For most projects there is usually one main question that you would like to address, which can sometimes be broken down into several sub-questions...

It can be caused by both good and bad experiences. When people feel stressed by something going on around them, their bodies react by releasing chemicals into the blood. These chemicals give people more energy and strength, which can be a good thing if their stress is caused by physical danger. But this can also be a bad thing, if their stress is in response to something...
