Johnny had been having a tough time in his life lately between his parents getting divorced, his girlfriend finding out she is pregnant, and trying to fit a job and school into his schedule. Johnny had felt as if he was as his breaking point and turned to marijuana to help him out and calm him down. Johnny had started smoking marijuana or weed once a week, then once a day, and then he started smoking multiple times a day. Johnny had begun putting smoking and his friends before both his girlfriend and his family. After a few months of smoking Johnny had quit his job and ran out of money to buy his marijuana, so he had began robbing houses and people of their things in order to pay for his bad habit. Things had just gone downhill from here and the more and more his girlfriend and family tried to help him, the more he had pushed them away and turned to his not-so-good friends. Johnny had begun to not care about his girlfriend, who was pregnant with his child and she wound up breaking up with him. This had not bothered Johnny at first, he actually thought it was a relief and that he could now go and party with his friends without being bothered. Johnny had started breaking more laws and getting himself into more legal trouble. Johnny had gotten himself locked up and the due date of his daughter was coming close. Johnny began to get scared and was especially scared that he was going to miss the birth of his daughter because he was locked up. He now realized all that he had done and that he should of treated Amber, his ex girlfriend better. Johnny now wanted to be back with Amber more than anything and to be able to raise their daughter together. Johnny called Amber from the prison; she answered, but was confused because they had not talked in about a month, “Hello? Johnny?”
“Amber, Listen to me, please! I’m really sorry for all that I’ve done and put you through, I really am! I’m changing, I promise you! I don’t want my daughter growing up without her father. I really want to be there for her, for both of you. Please Amber, just give me another chance. I can’t live my life without you” he had replied.
“Johnny, believe me, I love you so much. I’ve always loved you, but you wanted your time and space and I gave it to you. I’d love to see you change and to work us out, but I really can’t do this to myself again. I can’t sit around and worry about you anymore and especially worry if you’re going to be there to see Hayley be born or not. It’s really stressful for me and I just can’t deal with it again, I’m sorry…..”
“Okay, I understand and just know that I’m sorry and I’m really working on changing Amber. I really hope to be there for Hayley and you.”
Amber had cut Johnny off with saying, “I’ve got to go Johnny” and then she hung up.
After this call had ended Johnny was determined to change and to win Amber back. The next day Johnny had court and when he was sent home on house arrest after explaining to the Judge that his daughter was going to be born any day now and his plans to change and raise his family. The judge had given him one last chance and Johnny new that this could be the beginning of his new life and self. Johnny had never been this happy and as soon as he got home he called up Amber and asked her to come over. Amber came right over and the two of them had talked and cried for hours. Amber had decided to give Johnny one last chance, hoping to see a change in him. About a week after Amber and Johnny had gotten back together Hayley had been born. As soon as Johnny held precious, little Hayley he had began to cry and told Amber how glad he was to have been locked up and to have learnt his lesson about drugs. From that day on, Johnny had been clean and more focused on his family than anything else. Johnny had registered for classes in the fall semester at his community college and shown everyone the intelligent boy he could be. Nothing meant more to Johnny than Hayley and Amber and he took the right choice by dropping his friends and taking care of his family. Johnny, Amber, and Hayley had lived happily ever after and never had to deal with the horrible life they once had.

Mandatory Drug Testing Research Paper

...Every year at Christian Brothers High School, all the students must take a mandatory drug test. Schools do this to teach and establish that taking drugs is extremely wrong and can ruin your future. Over the years at CBHS, several students have failed their drug tests and have been asked to leave the school. This is a harsh, yet rational punishment for breaking the school rules and state laws. Drug Testing is a great idea because it teaches students to shy away from drugs, it will keep students focused on their school work, and it will help the school build a good reputation. Some students and parents believe that drug testing is bad idea because the school could use the money it spends on drug testing for other school projects. Although, other people believe it is worth the money because it teaches the students to shy away from drugs. As students enter high school, they start to realize and see more of the world that surrounds them every day. Some parents find this very scary because they want their son to make good decisions and follow the rules. Yet, parents understand that their children are being exposed to both alcohol and drugs. ...deal with drug safety and efficacy, which are important for FDA approval, the alpha should be appropriately large--meaning that you have a higher chance of rejecting the hypothesis that the drug is safe when it fact actually is. Although it shouldn't be too large since you don't want to send to waste a good product. This would give less room for type II error, which would mean you would accept the null hypothesis when if fact it is false. They don't want to say a drug is safe and effective when it actually isn't. Part B Type I error means that you reject the null hypothesis when it is true. Therefore for Set 1, you reject that the drug is safe when it actually is. And for Set 2 you reject that a drug is effective when it actually is. For each of these sets, a type I error would be of concern because you'd actually waste a good profitable product due to bad statistics. Part C Type II error means that you accept the null hypothesis when it is false. For set 1 you would accept that the drug is safe when it actually isn't. For Set 2 you would accept that a drug is effective when it actually isn't For set 1, accepting safety for a drug that could be dangerous, can lead to injury death and subsequently law suits. That's unethical and costly. A type 2 error could ruin the company's reputation. A study was surveyed among 8,179 youth from the National Survey of Parents and Youth. The study claimed that, “being part of a competitive sports team was related to a lower probability of marijuana initiation, but to increased rates of alcohol use over time. Males had significantly higher levels of marijuana initiation and decreases in rates of alcohol use over time; females had significantly greater rate of increase in alcohol use over time.” This sample is very useful to notify the reader that the use of alcohol and drugs is commonly used with adolescences in today’s sports world. By knowing this data it makes the readers question, why is todays athletes still so great at what they do and arguably the top athletes in history are performing today, and are constantly breaking records and entertaining the sports world? While alcohol and drugs should normally slow down athletes and keep them from performing at their best. Underage Drinking Persuasive Essay

...One of the lead killers for minors every year, alcohol can ruin development and start addiction for many. Each year, thousands of lives are changed forever just off decisions that are later regretted. Alcohol is ruining lives and is acting as a drug for many and many who get addicted are underage, and there needs to be fix for this. Although the situation on underage drinking is slowly becoming better, there are still many lives being ruined every year. Increasing the drinking age would improve the situation of underage drinking because it would prevent damage, increase punishment for drinking underage, and decrease the risk of alcohol related fatalities. First of all, Alcohol is abused by many who are underage, but there are many ways to fix this. Drinking below the age limit is mostly caused from peer pressure, curiousity, or just to be abused as a drug. In my opinion, the best way to counter underage drinking is the increase punishment and make alcohol checks a lot stricter, because at the moment fake ID’s are very easy to obtain. But the things that go on behind the scenes are hard to control, possibily increasing punishment for those who are caught is the first step to change. Overall, the amount of minors drinking has gone down over the last 3...

I would like to do it so that I can get my opinion out to you all. I would also like to do it so that I can explain how we can help each other to make it a better place to live in. There are too many crackers that are selling drugs when they should obey the law and there are also to many of you that are buying and taking the drugs while making crimes. I will also talk about what Fahrenheit 451 says about entertainment and about how entertainment ruined their lives in society. I define entertainment as anything that is considered enjoyable that you can act in your free time. A majority of people use technology as entertainment. Technology is an acceptable object that is abused that made it a concept that ruined our society. My opinion is that the entertainment is similar to drugs with different consequences. Once it’s abused then it can ruin someone's life and become an unacceptable concern. In Fahrenheit...

Marijauana Legalization

...The subject of marijuana is a very touchy subject to a lot of people; being that many people believe that it is the “devil’s lettuce,” and will ruin people’s lives, whilst some believe that it has no harmful effects that would change how a person lives their life. I will list both sides of the issue in order to make a clear decision. Legalization: * Marijuana is not any more harmful than that of alcohol or tobacco products; in fact, thousands of people are killed every year from the effects of smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol. While there are no reported cases of people dying from the effects of marijuana. * Restricting the use of marijuana is an intrusion on people’s personal freedoms; the drug does not hurt the user or people around them in a way that should be considered a threat. So the government should not have the power to say you can’t use marijuana. * An estimated 21 billion dollars a year would be brought in if marijuana was legalized; this would come from the taxation of the crop, and also the money spent to prevent the use of “criminals” who use this drug, who would no longer be incarcerated saving billions of dollars nationwide. Similarly, law enforcements could turn their focus to more important crimes, such as murder, theft, etc. instead of ruining the lives of individuals who are trying to enjoy their life. * If Marijuana was distributed by the government, it could be safely monitored and made sure that harmful chemicals weren’t being put in it...

This quote can also help us understand God’s plan for us. Some examples of destroying God’s plan for us are by taking drugs, and having abortions. By taking drugs, you are ruining God’s plan for yourself. God has a perfect life plan for us, but He also gave us free will. While God knows how our lives are going to happen, His plans might be interrupted by our free will. We are not respecting life because we are destroying our health and our bodies and our lives by taking drugs. What I Would Have Liked to Known Before My First Experience with Drugs and Alcohol

...| What I would have liked to have known before my first experience with drugs and alcohol. | | | By: unknown | 1/25/2012 | | What would I have liked to know before the first time I did drugs or alcohol? Well the first time i really drank to get drunk i was in 8th grade. I had no idea what the difference was between vodka or tequila, and i also didn’t know that some alcohol doesn’t mix well with others. So I got into a drinking competition with a female that I had been friends with for a while. She bet that she could drink more than me so we kept going back and forth taking shots of different alcohol. I don’t recall too much from that night because I blacked out and ended up puking after I had passed out on a couch. But I do remember the last thing I drank was a shot of tequila and I couldn’t stand the taste. Just from that I wanted to throw up and while throwing up that was all I could take. Ever since I can’t stand to be around the smell. That night I had no idea that you can die from drinking too much or that alcohol poising is a real thing. I had no idea what BAC was or that there are many diff factors to drinking. I wish I would have known that it can be unsafe to drink until you can’t drink anymore. I also wish I would have known that if you puke than you are the one to clean it up, I had no idea what a hangover was. Cleaning up puke with a hangover is not a fun time. Other than that I don’t think there is too much more I would have cared to know before...

Drug Addiction and Treatment Paper

...Drug Addiction and Recovery Carmen Dunagan Com/156 Professor Paul Neuhausen Many people do not understand why or how other people become so consumed in drug addiction. Often drug addicts are mistaken as weak individuals with no will power and assume they can stop using drugs at any time. In reality, drug addiction is a complex disease and being able to quit drugs takes more than good intentions and strong will. Drugs change the brain in ways that foster compulsive drug abuse, so quitting is very difficult even for those who say they are ready to quit. Through scientific advances we know more about how drugs work in the brain and we know that drug addiction can be successfully treated to help people stop abusing drugs and lead a productive life. Drug addiction is a problem that has increased in our society greatly over the years. Drug addiction stops lives and can cause you to forget about any dreams or goals you may have made for yourself. It ruins lives slowly and with a big impact. I found this topic to weigh heavy in my mind and heart since my family has struggled with drug addiction my whole life. I have often wondered how the addiction could be so important in their life. It isn’t just a habit I have learned it is an actual disease and it’s very sad how it controls people’s lives. It doesn’t only ruin and effect the abusers life but their family’s as well and I can share first hand with that. Since I was...

Drugs

...Illegal Drugs Kara Easler COM/220 July 11, 2012 Barbara Plyler Illegal Drugs is something you hear in the news on a daily basis. You hear about how some should be legal and how they should not be legalized. They are either talking about Marijuana, Cocaine or the number of illegal drugs that are out there in the world. Illegal Drugs affect everybody from young kids to grown up adults. Sometimes we see it ruin families and lives of people we care for. This essay is going to go over why drugs should stay illegal and ways we can help people stay off the drugs. First of all let’s talk about some of the drugs and what they are about. The first drug that is going to be talk about is Marijuana. They are trying to legalize that in every state for medical use. There are people who don’t want to see that happen. They want people to realize the effects it has one people. Some of the effects it has on people are “within a few minutes after inhaling marijuana smoke, an individual's heart begins beating more rapidly, the bronchial passages relax and become enlarged, and blood vessels in the eyes expand, making the eyes look red. The heart rate, normally 70 to 80 beats per minute, may increase by 20 to 50 beats per minute or, in some cases, even double. This effect can be greater if other drugs are taken with marijuana.” (Why illegal drugs should stay illegal). Well that could cause a person to have heartache, which is not good. It also gives you a natural high that makes you hungry...
