Part 1: Discuss the difficulties that can occur if communication with patients isn’t clear. A person’s interpersonal life is dependent on that person’s facility for making his or her thoughts, feelings, and needs to be known to others and on that person’s receptiveness to the attempts of others to share similar data with him or her. Communication, a multifaceted phenomenon, is the result of efforts by individuals toward this end. Communication can be considered in simplistic terms as the sending and receiving of messages, as both elements must be present for communication to take place. However, the fundamental transaction of the message sent and received does not presuppose that communication has occurred. Often, it has only partially occurred or has been aborted entirely as a result of the circumstances surrounding the occasion when the communication attempt was made. These circumstances may be environmental, emotional, …show more content…
In this case, each missed opportunity to report a significant, separately identifiable evaluation and management (E/M) service means a loss of anywhere from tens to hundreds of deserved reimbursement dollars per case. Three key areas of concern for modifier 25, which deals with significant, separately identifiable E/M service by the same physician on the same day of a procedure or other service claims. Radiology practices that heed these critical requirements will improve compliance and reimbursement:

E/M services billed using modifier 25 must be significant, separately identifiable, and above and beyond the usual preoperative and postoperative care associated with the procedure. Under CPT and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, all procedures and services that are from common diagnostic tests to the most complicated surgery include an inherent E/M

Gerbner's Model of Communication

...Gerbner's General Model (1956) Gerbner's General Model emphasizes the dynamic nature of human communication. It also gives prominence to the factors which may affect fidelity. The model shown diagrammatically is to be read from left to right, beginning at E - Event. • The event (E) is perceived by M (the man (sic) or machine). • The process of perception is not simply a matter of 'taking a picture' of event E. It is a process of active interpretation. • The way that the E is perceived will be determined by a variety of factors, such as the assumptions, attitudes, point of view, experience of M. • E can be a person talking, sending a letter, telephoning, or otherwise communicating with M. In other words, E could be what we conventionally call the Source or Transmitter. • Equally, E can be an event - a car crash, rain, waves crashing on a beach, a natural disaster etc. In this case, we could be applying the model to mass media communication, say the reporting of news. The model is a useful starting-point for the analysis of wide variety of communication acts. Note that the model, besides drawing our attention to those factors within E which will determine perception or interpretation of E, also draws our attention to three important factors: • Selection: M, the perceiver of the event E (or receiver of the message, if you prefer) selects from the event, paying more attention to this aspect and less to that...

Organization Behavior

...Coutler (2009) defined that communication refers to the course that the information, idea and emotion is delivered among individuals or groups in order to achieve a preset target and achieve a consensus agreement . Communication is the lifeline of the organization; it can connect various kinds of attributes together to enhance the organizational efficiency. It ensures the meticulous running of the organization (Rogers and Rogers, 1976). Management communication is the necessary countermeasure to associate different systems of the organization, alleviate the conflict and contradictions in the organization (Robbins and Coutler, 2009). However, in daily organizational communication, there are many communicative barriers, which affect staffs’ information delivery, and affect the enhancement of the company’s performance, affecting staffs’ personal career development (Klein, 1996). For example, in the management field, there is a famous dual 50% theorem that managers use more than 50%'s time in communication; however, more than 50% of the barriers in management is generated in communication. This essay will identify some barriers to communication in organization. Additionally, this essay will put up some useful methods for improving communication based on the case of Hewlett-Packard Co. Ltd. The company's information delivery chain in different position levels, the company's scale, staff position and title as well as cultural difference may bring in communication barriers for the company...

Mci Communications

...MCI Communications Corp. BACKGROUND MCI Communications Corp., a long distance telecommunications company, had been a sluggish performer in a buoyant market, and the management sensed a growing restlessness on the part of shareholders. To enhance the shareholders’ value, the company planned to repurchase some of its outstanding common stock. To guide the management in its decision, the company sought the advice of Lynch Investments in establishing a program to repurchase some of its outstanding common stocks. This leads to Katzu Mizuno, an associate of Lynch Investments, to investigate what source of fund is appropriate for the repurchase program and the possible effect of such action in the company. CASE ANALYSIS This case analysis aims to answer the following problem: How should the company finance its plan to repurchase its outstanding common stock in order to enhance its shareholder value? The company will be less flexible if it would have a debt-equity ratio of 72%. But since the said D/E ratio would “still be moderate with respect to the industry”, MCI’s bond rating won’t go below a medium grade of BBB. MCI needs to unlevered and then re-lever the target company’s equity beta. Unlevering the target’s equity beta yields an estimated beta comparable to the other major competitors which have different debt structure (see Exhibit B). Thus, re-levering this equity beta to reflect MCI’s target capital structure yields the appropriate risk for MCI to use in estimating a cost...

Teamwork

...applications in arenas such as education, training, entertainment, information integration, and collective robotics. Unfortunately, uncertainties in these complex, dynamic domains obstruct coherent teamwork. In particular, team members often encounter di ering, incomplete, and possibly inconsistent views of their environment. Furthermore, team members can unexpectedly fail in ful lling responsibilities or discover unexpected opportunities. Highly exible coordination and communication is key in addressing such uncertainties. Simply tting individual agents with precomputed coordination plans will not do, for their in exibility can cause severe failures in teamwork, and their domain-speci city hinders reusability. Our central hypothesis is that the key to such exibility and reusability is providing agents with general models of teamwork. Agents exploit such models to autonomously reason about coordination and communication, providing requisite exibility. Furthermore, the models enable reuse across domains, both saving implementation e ort and enforcing consistency. This article presents one general, implemented model of teamwork, called STEAM. The basic building block of teamwork in STEAM is joint intentions (Cohen & Levesque, 1991b); teamwork in STEAM is based on agents' building up a (partial) hierarchy of joint intentions (this hierarchy is seen to parallel Grosz & Kraus's partial SharedPlans, 1996). Furthermore, in STEAM, team members monitor the team's and...

...The Effect of E-recruitment On the Recruitment Process: Evidence from Case Studies of Three Danish MNCs Anna B. Holm, Aarhus University, Denmark annah@asb.dk Abstract. The aim of this research is to determine whether the introduction of e-recruitment has an impact on the process and underlying tasks, subtasks and activities of recruitment. Three large organizations with wellestablished e-recruitment practices were included in the study. The case studies were conducted in Denmark in 2008-2009 using qualitative research methods. The findings indicate that e-recruitment had a noticeable effect on the overall recruitment process in the studied organizations. The investigation revealed changes in the sequence, divisibility and repetitiveness of a number of tasks and subtasks. The new process design supported by information and communications technologies was identified and is presented in the paper. This process allowed recruiters in the study to perform recruitment tasks more efficiently. However, practitioners should be aware of the increasing demands of the quality of online communication with applicants, and with it the electronic communication skills of recruitment professionals. Keywords: recruitment, e-recruitment, web-based recruitment, online recruitment, staffing, e-HRM 1 Introduction The first decade of the twenty-first century saw rapid growth in the use of online recruitment [25] and the transformation of electronic recruitment into one of...
