Effective Approaches in Leadership and Management Communicating skills can sometimes have a much lower importance when compared to financial and business matters. In reality, they are an important component in generating results that are desired in business. This includes from achieving physician buy-in for technologies, to persuading co-workers to accept changes made, to constructing support from the community for initiatives in the hospital. Currently a lot of healthcare organizations are starting to realize the significance of effective communication skills as well as utilizing advanced methodologies for greater improvement- like “lock-ins,” where managers, leaders and staff employees, co-operate for budget planning as well as “jamming” or “workouts,” which are group conversations that have been proven to be successful to other industries other than healthcare (Haeuser J, 2005). When discussing nursing, continuous quality improvement as well as patient satisfaction is a major issue needed to be addressed. To have good quality care as well as patient satisfactory scores, it is necessary to state the numerous other issues being faced by nurses, shortages in nursing and also having an accurate ration of nurses to patients. Patient satisfactory scores and quality care will not meet appropriate standards if these issues are not addressed by the nurse. The top priority of each healthcare provider and worker is ensured patient satisfaction as well as quality care. You are allowing the patient to feel proper care while hospitalized as well as setting a good reputation to your specific unit and allows the hospital to have a good name. Patient satisfaction can be defined as a measurement create to get reports and rating from a patient about specific services that they received at an organization, hospital or by a healthcare provider (Quality/Equality Glossary, 2013).

Effective Approaches in Leadership and Management

...Effective Approaches in Leadership and Management The enactment of the affordable care act has significantly changed the structure of all health care. As the focus of treatment at health care facilities all across the country transitions from specialty care and acute illnesses to preventative and long term health management, many changes have taken effect that have directly affected the approach and delivery of care. One of the greatest changes is the vast amount of patients that are now seeking health care. In an attempt to keep up with these high demands, many facilities have been left scrambling to adjust their budgets, reduce excess spending, and implement more efficient means of care delivery. Nurses throughout this process have had to adapt to a work environment that is constantly being changed and restructured. As a result, decreased job satisfaction, increased incidence of compassion fatigue, and nurse to patient ratios involving higher acuity levels have all contributed to the vast nursing shortage that is being experienced today. In addition, patient satisfaction scores and Medicare reimbursement have been greatly affected as well. Despite all of the aforementioned issues, there are some facilities that are taking the extra step to recognize and promote nursing excellence by setting the standards higher in an attempt to gain Magnet status. The focus of this writing is to compare and contrast the expectations of the approaches that nurse leaders and managers may use...

Evaluating Work

...EVALUATING WORK 1. JOB EVALUATION Job Evaluation is the process of systematically determining the relative worth of jobs to create a job structure for the organization. The evaluation is based on a combination of job content, skills required, value to the organization, organizational culture, and the external market. This potential to blend organizational forces and external market forces is both a strength and a challenge of job evaluation. 2. TYPES OF JOB EVALUATION JOB BASED Job-based employee performance evaluations focus on the duties of the position and the tasks required to perform them successfully. This is a standard type of evaluation you can use for all employees filling the same position. First you must perform a job analysis, separating all duties into large categories, such as essential functions and communication. Under the categories of the position, specify tasks required to fulfill them. Be thorough in your analysis and ask your manager or the human resources department to review it. This will be the performance plan for the position. Each employee will receive the plan, sign it and be reviewed formally at the end of the rating period based on the duties outlined. PERSON BASED A person-based evaluation is specific to each individual employee. It takes into consideration the knowledge, skills and abilities the employee possesses upon hire and learns in the course of the rating period. In this way, an employee is compensated fairly for...

Firstly the rock size and mass was measured to determine the density and bulk volume using an electronic ruler and mass balance. Then using the helium porosimeter the grain volume of each core plug sample was measured. Each of these measurements were repeated three times and then averaged for precision sake. The porosity was then calculated by subtracting the grain volume from the bulk volume, to determine the pore volume, and then dividing by the bulk volume. The porosity results for all the samples were reasonable except for sample 1 and 6 for which the porosity is calculated to be in negative % and make no logic. These possible reasons for these inaccurate results are that the group made high errors in reading the measurements or did the experiment in a wrong method. 2-Introduction For the storage of oil and gas in any reservoir rock presence of porosity is vital. However, the degree of porosity in any rock depends upon...

Strategic Management of Business Policy Formulation and Implementation Between Bangladesh and India

...Strategic Management of Business Policy Formulation and Implementation between Bangladesh and India Course Title: Strategic Management Course Code: MBA 512 Prepared for Prof: Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Ph.D. Visiting Professor of IUB Prepared by Mostafizur Rahman 1221544 Shamsher Ali 113060 Abstract The business relationship between India and Bangladesh is currently of special interest in both countries for a number of reasons. Firstly, there are urgent and longstanding concerns in Bangladesh arising from the perennial, large bilateral trade deficit with India, and from the large volumes of informal imports from India across the land border which avoid Bangladesh import duties. These concerns have been particularly acute on the Bangladesh side in the context of discussions between the two governments of the possibility of a bilateral free trade agreement along the lines of the India-Sri Lanka FTA. Secondly, even though (because of the disparity in the size of the two economies) India’s trading relationship with Bangladesh is much less significant for it than it is for Bangladesh, closer economic integration with Bangladesh is nevertheless seen as a very important way of reducing the economic and political isolation of the seven Indian eastern and north eastern states from the rest of the country. Finally, both countries have long shared common objectives for closer economic integration...
