...Entertainment and Media Culture Vincent Arellano October 7, 2013 Marie Loggia-Kee Entertainment and Media Culture Entertainment has evolved in many ways. Communication of events had been a difficult task to achieve in past. Radio was there to inform us of the current news, but without any visualization. Television was brought to consumers so that society can receive a visual way of getting some correspondence. The Internet was invented to give society a way to communicate worldwide. There are people in our society who go through difficult and time-consuming challenges in order to entertain us. The radio has been and still is a common way to get the news, weather, and sports. People could imagine the happenings around the world as the radio announcer would describe in detail the occurrences that would happen. A presidential speech could be described as the crowd cheers in the background. A sports event can bring the excitement level to the full potential with the emotions expressed by the announcer. The weatherman can bring exciting and detailed events created by inclement weather. Television is society’s primary source of entertainment. Without the TV society would still be imagining today’s current events as described by our radio announcer. The TV has changed our culture in so many ways. Many people gather around to view the vast media, sports events, presidential speeches, public announcements, movies, shows, and a plethora of other media shown on different networks...

...Entertainments Negative Influences Jennifer Rivera 01/25/2016 HUM/186 Entertainment has shaped American culture in various ways. In my opinion it has influenced in a mostly negative way. Our culture now is more entertained by negative drama and news. For example, we are entertained by Bruce Jenner’s sudden change of gender more than we are about all the hungry kids around the world who cannot eat. We see “entertainment” such as that and allow our kids to see and idolize that kind of behavior. We see and hear what the majority of our population likes and for the most part it is all garbage. Take the music we listen too, such as, rap, hip hop, even reggaeton, which is pretty much Spanish rap. I can go on and on about the words and lyrics in most songs that are worshipped by many. In rap, hip hop, and reggae most of the lyrics discuss how they want to have relations with and disrespect many women, smoke, drink, and shoot people. This idea has become the new thing to sing about. They make it seem like if you become this type of person, you will be a “man” or idolized. Kids grow up wanting to become this way and most likely will end up in prison because of it. Kids used to grow up into church and discipline; with manners and respect. Now that all of that has been banned from schools, we don’t know as much as we used to. All we know as a culture is our electronics and the entertainment our world now has for us. Even our video games now have very bad messages for kids. ...
