...Apply the stakeholder mapping concept to the University of Essex. What does your analysis tell you about the relative levels of interest and power of the various stakeholders? In this report, I shall define, explain and talk about what is known as “Stakeholders”. I will discuss their relations to an organisation, how much influence they have on it and how much control do they have over an organisation if any, and my model organisation here will be the University of Essex. Stakeholders can be defined as a group of individuals that can almost always affect or be affected by a company’s purpose, which of course may include government agencies, competing organisations, customers, suppliers, and staff as well (Boddy 2008). Given the widely spread effects of many businesses, stakeholding might extend to the whole of society (Sloman 2010). These groups have a stake in, or are significantly affected by what the organisation does. Freeman referred to them as a group of individuals (Freeman 1984), and that they must be looked at as individuals, and not just some entity. This is because –as mentioned by Robbins & Cutler (2009) – establishing a relationship with them can lead to a desirable organisational outcome, such as improved predictability of environmental changes, more successful innovations, and a greater organisational flexibility to reduce the impact of change. But for an organisation to establish a relationship with its stakeholders, it needs to first...

...I, Thomas Matthews of Essex call upon my good protestant brothers and sisters of England to read this treatise with an open mind and maketh what you cometh to my sceptic belief of witchcraft (I extend an offering already given by Johann Weyer and Reginald Scott). I will begin by offering Exodus 22:18 which states ‘thou shalt not suffer a witch to live’. According to Holy Scripture a witch is simply heretic of Christendom and a non-believer and is not a worshipper thereof the devil. These heretics will be judged in purgatory at the gates of heaven. This is supported by Revelation 21:8 which states ‘the fearful, and unbelieving, sorcerers, idolaters, liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone’. Therefore a witch is...

...Turnout represents the number of registered voters who cast a ballot at a given election usually expressed as a percentage. In this extract turnout refers to non-electoral political participation. Traditionally, the political participation of the UK’s citizens is measured by turnout to general elections. For example, in 2005 turnout to the general election was just 60%. This was seen to be a participation crisis by some. This extract would argue that casting a ballot is only part of a person’s political participation. It shows that 62% of people had given money to an organization in the previous 12 months. Also, 50% of people had signed a petition. This suggests individuals choose their involvement in politics in their own way and generalizing that if general election turnout is low, political participation is low is incorrect. This is supported by the POWER report in 2006 that suggested there is not a political participation crisis as there is still involvement on a local level. This suggests that political participation should not just be judged on turnout for general elections but also other acts of political participation. Using your own knowledge as well as the extract, consider why some commentators have spoken of a ‘participation crisis’ in recent years. In recent general elections, declining levels of turnout have led some to believe Britain is having a participation crisis. Meaning, political participation is so low it threatens to undermine Britain’s democracy....

...This British advertisement from the “Love Essex” campaign about littering portrays issues about gender inequality and gender stereotypes. The word ‘smart’ represents the implication of a man being smart while the word ‘pretty’, represents that women are implicated as pretty, rather than smart. In the advertisement, it shows that the man is dressed up in professional clothes, thus making him look ‘smart’, while the woman is wearing a sexy and beautiful clothing. This matches the wording as well as it matches the implications of the ideal world of men and women. Therefore, this advertisement portrays that men and women are not equal based on society. In addition, this advertisement asserts that women’s beauty matters more than their intelligence,...

...How serious was the Essex rebellion of 1601? The Essex rebellion of 1601, although cantered around the capital of London, the worst place for a rebellion to take place, was on the whole a minor thorn in the side of Elizabeth and didn’t pose a direct threat. The Essex rebellion was a rebellion lead by the Earl of Essex in response to his fall from position after his failure in the Tyrone rebellion in Ireland. Feeling distraught, he saw this change in relations with the queen a result of her advisors such as Cecil, whom he had much rivalry with, and wanted to have him removed from power; although many are unsure if would have removed the monarch herself had he succeeded. Essex and nobles/gentry loyal to him attempted to hold a audience with the queen by force. However this failed and he was later executed a traitor. One of the reasons you could argue the Essex rebellion had little seriousness to it was that it had little support, partially due to Elizabeth being a relatively popular queen at this point and had been ruling on the throne for 42 years. The longer a monarch is established on the throne, the less likely it will be for a rebellion to have as much success as the monarch would have had enough time to gather support amongst the population and control the Nobles and gentry whom serve her. This lacking in support for Essex and his cause can be seen when he misjudged the allegiance of the people of London who he hoped would help him in his aims. Instead of joining in...

...Hello and Good Morning. Today I will be talking to you about the environmental and economical impact of the Bathurst 1000 on the local area and NSW as a whole. For anyone who doesn’t know the Bathurst 1000 is a 1000km V8Supercars race which is held at Bathurst annually on the second weekend of October. The race has been held there since 1963 at the Mount Panorama track. The race is also known as the Great Race or the second race that stops the nation behind the Melbourne Cup. The Bathurst 1000 is a beneficial event on both the environment and community The surrounding areas of Bathurst and local area is home to the Box-Gum Grassy Woodland. This woodland is on the verge of extinction as well as many animals within the area. This is why that the Bathurst 1000 event encourages its visitors to use gas stoves for cooking instead of firewood or to have small size fires. Visitors to the Bathurst 1000 are strictly prohibited from collecting firewood from the local region. Bathurst Regional Council and a Land care group as well as the Bathurst 1000 event have organized an event Race to Save the Mount Panorama Woodlands. The Bathurst 1000 was once home to the woodlands and some of the land was cleared to build the track. The local event is trying to help out and give back money and support to save the woodlands. As well as the Bathurst 1000 supporting the environmental side of things it also supports the local community massively. The economical impact that the Bathurst 1000 has on the...

Cromwell took charge of the drafting of the Act in Restraint of Appeals to Rome (1533) and the Act of Supremacy (1534). Cromwell persuaded Henry to agree to marry Anne of Cleves, a German princess, in hope to secure support against the Catholic Holy Roman Emperor, and strengthen the bonds of Protestantism. The marriage failed Unlike Wolsey and his predecessors, Cromwell was never Lord Chancellor; he can be regarded as the first chief minister of a new type, a layman basing his influence on the office of principal secretary. In 1536 he was ennobled as Baron Cromwell of Oakham, in the county of Rutland, and in 1540 he was created Earl of Essex....

...Section 1 – Executive Summery I am planning on purchasing the Great Outdoors Experience Hotel located on 1529 US 9, Schroon Lake, NY 12870. It is already an established lodging facility built in 1887. It has been renovated multiple times by prior ownership and will need only minor repair (see plan). I would like to provide a homey vacation atmosphere for the outdoor enthusiasts enjoying all seasons in the Adirondacks. The State of NY has awarded the Pharaoh region almost 10 percent of development dollars, which will roughly be around $7.1 million dollars. It was stated and recognized that this area is well known and frequently visited by travelers due to its many diverse hiking trails, pond and lake clusters, and skiing slopes. The Pharaoh region already has multiple chain hotels and a handful of small Inn’s, I want to offer a unique combination of hotel and Bed and Breakfast feel. With the hotels 50 accommodating rooms, convention room and private pub, I will be able to turn it into a successful Inn. Shopping and hospitals are located about 15-20 miles from the property for those who enjoy a shopping experience or for those who might be in need of medical assistance. I will offer and serve breakfast which will be complimentary and dinner at extra charges. Kayak and ski rentals will be available upon request as well as a local trained and certified hiking guide for those guests who are not familiar or comfortable venturing...
