Evaluating Dental Service/Experience

When patients are given an opportunity to evaluate the quality of the health care services they receive in a health care setting, it is often based on their present or pasted experiences (Debi, Zoumanan, 2009). For example, if a patient had their tooth extracted because it was painful and problematic and the pain persisted after having the tooth extracted, the patient may walk away with negative feelings and may never go back to obtain additional services from that dentist due to the patient feeling the dentist did not live up their his or her expectation. Therefore when asking that patient was to evaluate the dental service/experience, their response may not be as positive (Debi, Z., 2009).

Dentist Personal Statement

...My first exposure to the dental field was when a neighbor developed oral cancer and subsequently died. The cancer had progressed from a small treatable lesion to a metastasized nightmare, the result of not appreciating the seriousness of his condition and his poor access to care. Witnessing this neighbor suffering needlessly motivated me to seek out a career in dentistry: it made me realize the connection between oral health and general health. In addition to this experience, I was fortunate to have parents that routinely brought me to the dentist. My dentist was a charismatic doctor that indulged my burgeoning interest in this field. Through his compassionate care for his patients and the professionalism he portrayed, I was motivated to pursue this fascinating and challenging profession. Knowing that this was what I wanted to do, I enrolled in dental school in India. The program was focused on treating patients from underprivileged areas, where care was otherwise impossible to obtain. My first exposure to treating these populations was during dental school. With their needs being so great, it allowed me to expose myself to a variety of dental procedures I would not have otherwise experienced. I performed single visit root canal treatment with both hand files and rotary, direct and indirect veneering techniques, as well as...

Negotiations

...Remember, salary is the amount the market will support for your services. Most organizations, both large and small, establish salary ranges for every position based on standards and general practices for the field. Organizations determine where an employee falls in the salary range based on experience and special expertise or knowledge. It is in the organization’s best interest to hire you for fair market value for several reasons. First, the hiring process can be long and expensive. It would be inefficient for an organization to make low offers only to be rejected and have to begin the recruiting process all over again. Second, organizations want to hire and retain good employees. It is unproductive to pay you less than other employees. The What, Why, and When of Salary Negotiation What is it? Salary negotiation is the process of reaching an agreement on what an organization will pay for your skills, knowledge, and experience. Contrary to popular belief, this is not an adversarial process. It is both the organization’s and your best interest to come to a mutually beneficial agreement. Why or Why Not Negotiate? The only reason is to get fair market value for your skills, experience, and knowledge. The process is important for future earning because most raises will be based on your starting salary. However, it is unwise to negotiate for negotiation’s sake. For example, sometimes job seekers think a hiring manager expects...
