Fiber that is ate or drank helps the body function by regulating the digestive system, good source of fiber is types of food and the source of fiber is found in bread for example (whole grain) and Wheat bread is a natural source that is easily broke down. Other sources of fiber are in pasta, flax seed and in most yogurts-Vitamins are a key source that is good for your metabolism, which thiamine and niacin is some of the vitamins that help a person to have part of the diet in their body.
Soluble Fiber: When a person eats regularly as part of his or her diet, saturated fat and trans-fat and cholesterol, Soluble fiber has been considers to increase a diet it also decrease cardiovascular disease and achieve a diet that is low in saturated and trans fats and cholesterol also oats has the highest proportion of soluble fiber of any grain that you intake in your body.
High in soluble fiber is oat bran, oatmeal, beans, peas, barley, citrus fruit such as oranges or grapefruit is another source, my favorite fruit strawberries is also a soluble fiber.
Insoluble Fiber: (The American Heart Association) stated that insoluble fiber has been associated with decreased cardiovascular risk and also slower progression of cardiovascular disease in a high-risk to individuals. Also dietary fiber can make you feel full because it would make you eat less calories, food in high insoluble fiber is found in whole-wheat bread, wheat cereals, rye, rive and most other grains, cabbage, beets, carrots and other vegetables and insoluble fiber is found in apple skins also.

The average American eats 10 - 15 grams of fiber per day. The recommendation for older children, adolescents, and adults is 20 - 35 grams per day. But younger children will not be able to eat enough calories to achieve this, but it is good for children to be introduced to whole grains, fresh fruits, and other high-fiber foods.

I have learned a lot about fiber that is a dietary and a healthy choice to keep from getting cholesterol and other serious diseases and for I am older and do partake in all these foods and vegetables, and other sources that keeps me healthier including exercise.

...Fiber Research Melanie L. Moran SCI/241 February 10, 2011 Fiber is a nutrient that is found in whole grains, such as wheat, rice, oats, and rye. Fiber is also found in fruits like apples, bananas, and oranges. It is found in some vegetables, such as carrots, peppers, rhubarb, and avocados. One can also get fiber from peas, beans, and legumes. Fiber helps to maintain proper bowel function, and it helps to prevent some cancers, for examples fiber helps to protect against breast cancer, and colon cancer. Fiber lowers cholesterol, stabilizes blood sugar, and helps to prevent obesity by making a person feel like they are full longer and as a result, eat less. There are two kinds of fibers; soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber dissolves in water to form a gel – like substance that swells. Soluble fiber helps to keep blood glucose levels where they should be and lowers ones cholesterol. Examples of soluble fibers are oats, beans, peas, apples, and berries. The other type of fiber is insoluble fiber; this type of fiber does not dissolve. Insoluble fibers increase the movement of material through ones digestive tract. Examples of insoluble fiber are whole wheat breads, wheat cereals, cabbage, beets, carrots, Brussels sprouts, and apple skins. It is important that an adult who consumes a diet that consists of two thousand calories daily should eat six to eight servings of grains each day and a total of twenty five grams of fiber daily. It is recommended that children follow the...

...Week 3 CheckPoint Fiber Research Week 3 CheckPoint Fiber Research Phoenix University SCI 241 The role that fiber plays in a human body, is that it’s the main function in the body is to regulate a person’s digestion. Some examples of food sources for fiber can be found in bread, pasta, flax and seed. Researches have also found out that most yogurts now have a fiber additive, so most yogurts can be added to good food sources for fiber. The difference between soluble and insoluble fiber is that soluble fiber is soluble in water, while insoluble fiber does not absorb or even dissolve in water. When you mix soluble fiber with water, the water and fiber turns into gel. The benefit of soluble fiber includes lowering a person’s cholesterol as well as moderating a person’s glucose levels. You can find soluble fiber in oats, oatmeal, peas, beans, lentils, barley, fruits and vegetables. Insoluble fiber passes through the body’s digestive system. The benefits that insoluble offers include intestinal health of a reduction in the risk of occurrence of colorectal cancer, hemorrhoids, and constipation. Insoluble primarily come from bran layers of cereal grains. The fiber recommendations for adults are 20-35 grams per day for adults, or 10-13 grams for every 1,000 calories in one’s diet. The fiber recommendation for children really depends on their age. Kids ages 4-18 need to have an intake of 25-38 grams per day. For adults it’s recommended that the amount of an adult should come...

...look into the studies on fiber we find that fiber is important for gastrointestinal health as well as cholesterol-lowering benefits. Fiber is mainly used by your body to clean it out easier. It passes through your body unchanged and will push everything in front of it in the digestive system along, making the digestive process easier. Another function for fiber is to regulate how full you are. The amount of fiber you eat is what gives you the full feeling when you eat a lot. Some of the places you can find fiber is in oats, wheat and basically any food with any part of a plant in it. Fiber is a plant that cannot be broken down by the human digestive system. Intestinal bacteria are able to utilize fiber as nutrition, thus helping you to be well. Our digestive system is unable to break down dietary fiber and this indigestible ingredient has many effects on the functions of the body. Because fiber is not absorbed by the body, it does not significantly increase the energy content of food, and thus helps you to control your body weight. Soluble fiber is “soluble” in water. When mixed with water it forms and swells into a gel-like substance making the feces increase in weight. The dissolving of some fibers in water forms viscous solutions in the intestines; these are called viscous or soluble fibers. Soluble fiber has a lot of many benefits, including but not limited to, moderating blood glucose levels and lowering cholesterol. Some of the soluble fibers include pectins, gums, mucilages...

Fiber Research

...Fiber or dietary fiber is a unique material that comes from plants in which the human body cannot digest in the digestive system and therefore it passes through the stomach, small and large intestine unchanged and then excreted. What fiber does to our bodies is helps reduce risks of diabetes, digestive disorders, heart disease and certain types of cancers. There are different types of food sources to help maintain a healthy daily amount such as oats, beans, peas, wheat bran, whole grains and fruits and vegetables. Fiber is never found in fish, meat, or poultry. There are two major types of fiber, soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber in fruits, vegetables and grain products help lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol or “bad cholesterol” which is a major risk of heart disease. Soluble fiber also helps reduce the risk of diabetes. Insoluble fiber aids digestion in which it hardens stool to help alleviate constipation and help prevent colon cancer. Kids have to start adapting to the dietary recommendation at the age of two. Both kids and adults should be consuming between 14-28 grams of fiber a day. Adult men must consumer higher amounts of fiber than adult women as well. One thing I learned about fiber that I was not aware of prior top this reading is that fiber is not actually consumed but instead it is passed through the system. Unlike vitamins and minerals that the body absorbs to maintain a healthy lifestyle I did not think that fiber, something that...

...Check Point: Fiber Research SCI/241 October 11, 2012 Fiber plays an important role in your body’s health by helping to reduce blood cholesterol levels, reducing risk for cardiovascular disease, controlling weight by making you feel full with fewer calories, and helping to prevent constipation. Dietary fibers are fibers that are made up of plant parts that the body cannot digest. The best forms of dietary fibers are found in whole grain foods instead of food made from refined grains. Fiber is found in two forms, soluble fiber and insoluble fiber and each carries its own health benefits (American Heart Association (AHA), 2012). Soluble fiber is fiber dissolves in water and forms a gel in your stomach delaying the stomach emptying which keeps you feeling full longer. Since it soluble fiber keeps you feeling fuller longer, it can help keep your weight under control. Delayed stomach emptying has an effect on blood sugar levels which can help control diabetes. This fiber can also help lower the bad cholesterol (LDL) by blocking some absorption of dietary cholesterol. Insoluble fiber does not dissolve in water and is considered a gut-healthy fiber. It can have a laxative effect and add bulk to your diet and help prevent constipation (WebMd, 2012). This fiber can reduce cardiovascular risk and slow the progression of cardiovascular disease in those considered high-risk. Some examples of soluble fibers foods are oat bran, peas, rice bran, beans, citrus fruits...

High Fiber Diet Research Paper

...High-fiber diet is actually a return to nature and the plant-based diets used by our ancestors since the beginning of time. In fact, our ancestors consumed large quantities of fiber-containing foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grain products every day. As technology advanced, however, people began to turn away from these unprocessed healthful foods and began eating more highly processed and fat-laden foods. As a result, the incidence of coronary heart disease, diabetes, and cancers has steadily risen. Almost everyone hears about the need for enough fiber in the diet. But few people understand the importance of dietary fiber. High-fiber diets have been endorsed by the American Heart Association, the American Dietetic Association, the National Cancer Institute, the National Research Council, and the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Studies show that few Americans get enough fiber in their diet and over a billion dollars a year is spent on laxatives. Fiber intake in the U.S. and other "modernized" countries averages around 12-15 grams a day. But in order to be healthy you need 20 to 35 grams of fiber a day. That's a big difference. It...

High Fiber Food Research Paper

...High fiber food is recommended by vets for chubby dogs because it has less calories than regular food. Foods with high fiber have the same effect on dogs that it has on people which we know is good for us. There are also other added purposes for using food high in fiber. One of the other benefits from a high fiber food is that it makes your dogs' stool "bulky" and that can eliminate constipation, it also stimulates your dog's digestive system and enhances your dogs' colon health. If your dog is diabetic I am sure you are familiar with the knowledge that a high fiber food has its advantages in controlling the changes in levels of their blood sugar. This of course is preferable for the well being of your dog. One of the other values of a diet including high fiber food is the prevention of bacteria buildup. When bacteria is allowed to grow in the colon it causes diseases and colon cancer can result....

...Fiber is an essential ingredient to a great diet. It helps prevent diseases, such as Coronary Heart Disease. “Fiber is important for gastrointestinal health as well as cholesterol-lowering benefits” (American Heart Association, 1997). Some food sources that have fiber are pasta, beans, corn, grits, and oatmeal. Most whole grains contain fiber; where as processed grains have little amounts of fiber. Whole grain cereals give a great amount of fiber to the body. There are two types of fiber, which are soluble fiber and insoluble fiber. “Soluble fiber has been associated with increased diet quality and decreased risk of cardiovascular disease” (American Heart Association, 2011). Soluble fiber is called soluble because it is soluble in water. One of the main benefits of soluble fiber is that it aids in lowering cholesterol. Soluble fiber can be found in oranges, barely, peas, and beans. Insoluble fiber does not dissolve in water. “Some benefits of insoluble fiber are that it has been associated with decreased cardiovascular risk and slower progression of cardiovascular disease in high-risk individuals” For those who are interested in losing weight or eating fewer calories, insoluble fiber may make you feel full. Foods in which contain insoluble fiber are whole wheat bread, rye, bran, cabbage, turnips, and apple skin. Just to name a few. According to the American Heart Association, “adults or those who eat 2,000 calories or more should be eating 25g of fiber a day” (American Heart...

...The function of fiber in the body is said and proven to control or maintain a healthy weight, lower cholesterol, blood pressure support, and other nutritional benefits that benefit other parts of the body such as with the gastrointestinal digestive system. Some of the differences between soluble and insoluble fiber would be the capacity of water they are able to hold; for example “soluble” fibers have a high water-holding capacity. Soluble fiber has been associated with increased diet quality and decreased risk of cardiovascular disease. Foods high in soluble fiber include oat bran, oatmeal, beans, peas, rice bran, barley, citrus fruits, strawberries and apple pulp. Insoluble fiber has been associated with decreased cardiovascular risk and slower progression of cardiovascular disease in high-risk individuals. Foods high in insoluble fiber include whole-wheat breads, wheat cereals, wheat bran, rye, rice, barley, most other grains, cabbage, beets, carrots, Brussels sprouts, turnips, cauliflower and apple skin. According to the article, part of the recommendations for children and fiber are that children consume the amount of energy intake needed and as they grow into an adult with an adult caloric intake; approximately 1500 or more. When determining the amount of fiber to be in taken by a child the “age plus five” rule is mentioned. A good way to explain it would be to take the child’s age plus five and that would be the number of grams of fiber per day recommended; verses...

...chose was “Asbestos: How great a Danger”? Asbestos is the generic name for several naturally occurring silicate mineral fibers. These fibers which are used as a heat insulator can easily be dislodged and may be inhaled in the lungs, where they remain for life (Bateman, 2011). They produce three disorders: pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma. Asbestos is referred to as a unique fiber. Asbestos is used as a heat insulation on ceiling and pipes in factories, schools and other buildings and sprayed on walls. It has also been used in things such as brake pads, brake linings, hair dryers etc. Everything we do puts humans and the environment at risk. The acceptability of risk is also influenced by perceived benefit. Asbestos underwent a complicated road from being an industrial commodity and must have, to being a huge risk, being one of the most dangerous fibers. There has been a call for a total ban on the use of asbestos due to the current health risk. Asbestos use is seen as not acceptable, controlled use is not possible and safer substitutes are available. In this case study, the benefits do not outweigh the cost. One may save money using asbestos, but the cost to seek healthcare for the individual affected is far more costly. In expressing preferences, I feel one would choose to be healthy without the detrimental health risk that this fiber brings along with its use. Overall asbestos is not an acceptable risk when there are other forms of this material that...

...and spirally-wound bast fiber, plays an extremely important role in its mechanical behavior. In recent years, the development of biocomposites from biodegradable polymers and natural fibers have attracted great interests in the composite science, because they could allow complete degradation in soil or by composting process and do not emit any toxic or noxious components. For the past several years, public attention has gone to natural fibers as a resource due to their fast growth. Bamboo is an abundant natural resource in Asia and South America, because it takes only several months to grow up. It has been traditionally used to construct various living facilities and tools. The high strength with respect to its weight is derived from fibers longitudinally aligned in its body. Therefore, bamboo fibers are often called ‘natural glass fiber’. To practically apply the benefit of bamboo fibers, it is necessary to develop a process to fabricate bamboo composites as well as to extract qualitatively controlled fibers from bamboo trees. However, it is difficult to extract bamboo fibers having its superior mechanical properties. The bamboo fiber is often brittle compared with other natural fibers, because the fibers are covered with lignin.  Objectives 1.
