These chickens are raised in incubators with the sounds of automated feeding machines and cooling systems, so needless to say, they don’t rest much. They are prone to injury and illness from the cages they are forcibly squeezed into. Often times the cages become soiled with excretions, which in turn releases ammonia in the air—that causes burns to the chickens. A documentary I saw showed how many times when they are grabbing a chicken out from or into a cage, a chicken or two will get there heads stuck when they shut the cage again.
