...GIVE THANKS TO GOD BY PASTOR T.O.BANSO Text: Psalm 124:1-8 Giving thanks is a practice that does not come to many people easily because when they look at their lives, they believe there is nothing worth thanking God for. They convince themselves that thanking God may be right for those who God has showered His blessings on but not right for them. Even God knows He is yet to do anything for them so thanking Him will embarrass Him! But this is not correct if considered in-depth. There is no one who does not have a reason to thank God. When we can not think, we cannot not thank! A thoughtful person will be a thankful person. A man grumbling and complaining that he has no shoe will thank God when he sees a man without legs! A lady who thinks she does not have good clothes will thank God when she sees another insane lady naked! Often times, many of us are ungrateful for God’s kindnesses and manifold blessings in our lives. We are so concerned about what is yet to happen that we fail to see what has happened. We remember so constantly answers to prayers that are yet to manifest that we forget answers to prayers we are already enjoying. Oh how ungrateful we often are! We regularly violate God’s instruction concerning giving thanks. “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks...

...TENACIOUS CHURCH II THESSALONIANS 1:3-4 SUBJECT COMING FROM VERSE FOUR Paul, Silvanus and Timotheus, in his letter to the Thessalonians, saw it fitting to give thanks to God always for the brethren, at the church of the Thessalonians, because of how their faith had grown and the charity and love they had shown toward each other in troublesome times. In Paul‘s first letter to the Thessalonians, he preached and taught about three weeks, almost every major doctrine of the Christian faith. Although Paul’s visit to Thessalonica was short, his ministry was long enough to leave a solid foundation for a thriving church. After leaving and going to Athens, Paul leaves Timothy and Silvanus behind to help the new church by way of encouragement. The church was faced with persecution, however persecution can mean growth. God’s spirit strengthens and encourages suffering saints as they go through the difficulties of Christian life. Timothy rejoined Paul at Corinth and gave him the report on the new church. A short time afterward, Paul writes II Thessalonians and began to thank God for the tenacity of this church and it’s determination to grow in faith. Paul considered this church his friend. After hearing of the progress of this tenacious church and their growth and love toward each other, Paul couldn’t help but praise God for their accomplishment. So then, Paul realized first, a growing church is a faithful church, and that this church would go through much persecution. Therefore...

The purpose of the defining Word Project is to learn of the immense benefit that can be gained from really searching out the meaning of a word. Looking up the synonyms and antonyms, understanding what the root word means, finding the primary root in Hebrew and Greek can bring such a depth of understanding to what the Holy Spirit means in a Bible verse. And by diligent study of words, you usually "get it." That's a challenge but we are commanded to do exactly this! 2 Timothy 2:15 “ Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” This assignment is based on six words that I have researched and defined according to their Biblical use in both the Old Testament and New Testament. The words I have selected include the following: I chose three from the Old Testament being -praise, honor, rejoice and three of the New Testament including- bow down, shout and joy. The first word I researched was praise. Praise is defined...

...Dear God, Will You Ever Give Me the Man of My Prayers? On April 23, 2007, I wrote the following in my beloved journal: Dear God, I want a Christian home. I want to raise a Christian family. One that goes to church on Sundays, is involved with the church, and prays together at night. I want a husband. I want a spiritual leader. [pic] Lord, will this ever be true for me? I want that man who prays for me, and I pray for him. I want a man that prays with me. I want a man that takes everyone to church on Sundays. Who’s involved with the kids at church. Who smiles because he’s drunk in love with YOU! Who relies on You. [pic] Lord, will this ever be true for me? I want a man who is unconditional in his ways (love, gifts, kindness, helping hand). Who doesn’t expect things in return – EVER. Who accepts the world as it is and doesn’t let it affect his walk with You. I want a man who wants to change the world. Lord, will this ever be true for me? [pic] I want a man that knows You!!! I want a man that will accept Your blessings even the small ones. A man that makes me feel like he can make a mountain out of a mole hill even if there is no dirt or rock to make one with. I want a man that is positive and understanding. A man that makes me push to be a better person. A man excited about life and looks forward to life after death. A man that has a spot in heaven and will help me in my spiritual journey. Because that’s what life is … a journey of...

...high profits. Managers spend a lot of time and money in finding and attracting responsible, innovative, knowledgeable, and motivated to work employees. Moreover, when the company succeeds in finding such a person, the issue of how to increase his satisfaction and performance occurs. Reduction of the employee turnover is a main goal for the companies’ senior management. In order to achieve this goal, managers use various tools. The most common of all is giving the employees praise and recognition after they do a job well. Curt Coffman states “71 percent of U.S workers are “disengaged””, meaning that employees don’t care about the organizations they work for. The case described in the S. Robbins and T. Judge “Organizational Behavior” book (Chapter 7 - Motivation) explores that feeling lack of appreciation results in a decrease in the of employees’ performance. The case explores the complicated issue of how to show recognition and how to award employees for their good performance. Companies fail when they have to say “Thanks” to their employees in moments when they deserve it. Research among various organizations has shown that, actually, payment bonuses are not enough to increase workers’ satisfaction. Presents given insincerely and in an inappropriate way would not please employees, and such recognition has no value to them. Eric Lange, working for a trucking company, gives an example of the presents given to his company’s vice-presidents. He says that even though they received...
