Google offers a range of benefits for its employees which speak to the company culture and work environment that “though Google has grown a lot since it opened in 1998, we still maintain a small company feel” (Google, 2011).Google’s work environment and culture support its core values, and commitment to excellence because every employees which is called “Googler” is an equally important part of their company success. Google work environment culture reflect their mission statement “organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” and Corporation culture that you can make money without doing evil as well as to work hard and still have fun. In addition Google was voted as the ideal place to work as well as named as the Number 1 employer in their annual 100 “Best Companies to Work For” by Fortune Magazine.
Google has separated itself from its competitors by its company Work environment/culture which is according to Laura Schneider “a high-energy, fast paced work environment. While the dress code might be “casual” the company attracts and retains some of the brightest minds in the technology industry. There is a work hard, play hard atmosphere. The Google Mountain View, CA headquarters (aka “the Googleplex”) is a campus-like environment. There are workout facilities, a café, well stocked snack rooms, and a dorm like environment” (Schneider, 2011). In additions Google has created a variety of programs and policies by focusing on a work environment for all such as
• Adoption Assistance
• Day Care
• Mother's Rooms
• Maternal/Paternal Leave Program
• Domestic Partnership Programs
• Accommodation Policies for employee with disability
• Transgender and Transitioning Workplace Support
• Local expressions of each location in each office’s region and personality.
• Bicycles or scooters for efficient travel between meetings; dogs; lava lamps; massage chairs; large inflatable balls.
• Googlers sharing cubes, yurts and huddle rooms – and very few solo offices.
• Laptops everywhere – standard issue for mobile coding, email on the go and note-taking.
• Foosball, pool tables, volleyball courts, assorted video games, pianos, ping pong tables, and gyms that offer yoga and dance classes.
• Grassroots employee groups for all interests, like meditation, film, wine tasting and salsa dancing.
• Healthy lunches and dinners for all staff at a variety of cafés.
• Break rooms packed with a variety of snacks and drinks to keep Googlers going.
Furthermore diversity is a vital component of the culture at Google with hundreds of different location across the world “Building diversity and inclusion into the way we operate around the globe continues to be an essential part of our business and our culture as Googlers” (Google, 2011).

Implications for HR Policies in Other Companies According to CEO Larry Page, “Google is a place where you can come to work, and be you. We aspire to provide the best place to work for all Googlers. At the end of the day, it’s Googlers who make Google one of Fortune magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For"(Google, 2011) this statement speak to the advantage Google has over other company when it come to its HR approach to the work environment and culture policies. Some of the perk that Google offer it employee that other company don’t is the diverse culture work environment as stated by a employee at Google "I worked elsewhere before joining Google and I can very clearly differentiate between the two workforces. Initially I thought it was just a coincidence that such a diverse workforce is employed here. It was great to know that it was no coincidence, but instead due to the great effort taken by a lot of people here at Google” (Google, 2011). In addition Google has been a frontrunner in maintaining a small company feels by having many perk that other company can’t compete with such as
• free gourmet cafeterias
• shuttle-bus transportation
• Onsite car washes and oil changes
• get haircuts onsite
• onsite work out gym and exercise classes
• Free company washers and dryers or drop off dry cleaning
Furthermore, according to Google “When we encourage Googlers to express themselves, we really mean it. In fact, we count on it. Intellectual curiosity and diverse perspectives drive our policies, our work environment, our perks and our profits. It's the amazing diversity of Googlers that allows us to do extraordinary things” (Google,2011). Another perk that company like Walmart, Yahoo or Microsoft can’t compare with is the hand on policy that every employee is equally important part to their success by having every week hands-on meeting where you can ask questions to the founders and VPs of the company.
