Hillary Clinton changed America a way that no other woman has before. She has made several decisions for the United States government. Hillary has made a huge impact on history from being First Lady, to being in the United States Senate, also as the secretary of state, and running for President.
Hillary Rodham Clinton was born at Edgewater Hospital on October 26, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, to Hugh Ellsworth Rodham and Dorothy Emma Howell. Hillary is the oldest of three, including Tony and Hugh Rodham (Bernstein, 25). Hillary grew up in a United-Methodist home, and went to a Catholic elementary school (ibid, 37). Once Hillary graduated high school, she continued her education at Wellesly College and majored in political science (ibid, 39). …show more content…
She became the first woman to have a postgraduate degree and to have her own professional career before entering the White House. She was also the first First Lady to have her office in the West Wing instead of the East Wing (Wikipedia, 1). In January of 1993, Hillary became part of a task force trying to make health care more important. It soon was named, “Hillary Care” but failed with little success. In 1998, there was a suspicion that President Clinton had an extramarital affair with intern Monica Lewinsky, which eventually impeached him. Hillary struggled quietly with her marriage after finding out such discouraging news, but publicly said that she and ill would stay together; however, she was infuriated and did not want to stay in the marriage. During that time, Hillary went to church to help her through such sorrow. In 2000, Hillary decided to run for Senate and became the initial First Lady of the US to be elected to office (Wikipedia, 1). Hillary remained New York Senate from January 3, 2001 to January 21, 2009. In 2007, Hillary announced that she was running for President, but was defeated by President Barack Obama. President Obama elected Hillary as Secretary of State from …show more content…
There are many different opinions of whether Hillary should be President or not, but there are facts to back up both opinions (Wikipedia, 1). Hillary has an extreme amount of experience with the government and also wants to make college cheaper; but within that experience of government, Hillary has lied countless times. She lied about Benghazi and emailed that the attack was caused by al-Qaeda elements, but told the families of the dead Americans the attack was caused by a video. She also said that she and her daughter landed in Bosnia under sniper fire, but a video was recovered of them landing safely to a young girl greeting her with flowers. It was revealed in March of 2015, that Hillary had been using private email accounts and claimed that they were set up in line with the rules and regulations, which is also false (Wikipedia, 1). Hillary believes that vaccines work and adults who do not supply vaccines for their children are ignorant (Blue Nation Review, 1). She also believes that background checks should be a requirement before a gun is purchased. Finally, Hillary supports abortion and LGBT rights which is a contributing factor of why many Democrats are voting for her (ibid,

The Leadership Of Frederick Douglass In The 19th Century

...Lincoln. Frederick Douglass changed the government for the better of society. Frederick had an interesting upbringing. He and his mother were both slaves, at times they were on the same plantation. Slavery diminished his family’s education and knowledge to the real world, therefore he did not know the exact date of his birth. His father was his slave-owner, who had an affair with his mother, Harriet Bailey. In 1838, Frederick daringly escaped from his slave-owner in Baltimore, Maryland, fleeing to Pennsylvania. He published the “North Star” in 1847, which covered social and political topics from emancipation of slaves to women’s suffrage (Digital). During 1861-1864, Douglass worked with Abraham Lincoln to improve the conditions of...

Soc 333 Gender Role Analysis

...places of employment, and jobs shape who we are. As far as gender is concerned some of the behavior is learned and some of it is obtained from our genetics (Sapiro, 2003).While some individuals focus on the assets they can bring to society, others are getting involved and letting education, public policy, and the workforce shape them into strong and responsible people. These men and women are becoming prestigious leaders in society and are wasting no time trying to get to the top of the corporate ladder. Gender is not only shaped by what we learn at home, but it also helps us appreciate our worth. For instance, women were not able to receive the same education as men in the earlier days, but once they were able to become educated things changed tremendously. In a classroom setting there are different instruments used for learning such as, chalk boards, art supplies, books, etc. These items do not necessarily shape the gender, but the students use them in different ways. Boys are said to participate more in class than girls and show more interest in math and competitive learning. Boys interact more in the classroom than girls and it is said that they have more confidence (Sapiro, 2003). In classrooms there are also décor that enhances the learning experiences of the students. For instance, a history class usually has pictures of famous people that have made or been a part of history. There may be pictures up of men more than women because of the laws that clearly separated different...

Hillary Trump Persuasive Speech

...¨ People don't resist change. They resist being changed.” and I believe that Donald Trump will make a better president than Hillary Clinton, because he has experience with finances, as a businessman, and I think he can help us change back to the American nation we were before. Donald Trump speaks his mind and isn't afraid to say what he is thinking, although this can be a bad thing I think it is exactly what we need for us as a nation right now. We need someone that will tell us not what we want to hear but what we need to hear, and that's what Donald Trump is doing. We have seen his campaign speeches and his debates and we see all the crowds he brings in and how wild they can get, but if you really listen to his speeches you can tell he is...

Dynamics of Ethics

...Running head: DYNAMICS OF ETHICS Dynamics of Ethics University of Phoenix Dynamics of Ethics Every four years the people of the United States of America have the privilege to vote a middle-aged, upper class white male into the highest office in the land, President of the United States of America. In November 2008, the people of the United States of America will vote for the forty-third individual to be elected as the President. Historically, middle-aged to a bit older white males have been the Democratic and Republican nominees for the highest office in the land, the position of President of the United States of America. The first elected President being George Washington elected into office in 1789. The 2008 Democratic Party has two remaining nominees that have changed the history of presidential elections, just by throwing their bids in to run for the presidency. For the first time a woman, Hillary Rodham Clinton and an African American, Barack Obama are contenders for the position of the forty-third President of the United States. I believe the change is taking place because the American people are sick of what this county has become. For the past eight years the country that was ‘the land of the free and home of the brave’, has become more of the ‘land of the working slave and the home of the afraid of what terrorist can do’, under the leadership of the current president George Bush. During his eight year term the United States has seen its share of bad times;...

Feel the Bern

...selection of candidates. Yes, they could have the first woman president in Hillary Clinton, but besides that fact, you have a 74-year-old white man and Martin O’Malley. Where are the energetic young progressives that form the Democrat party? Where is the Barack Obama type of candidate for the Democrats? It may be hard to believe that that candidate is Bernie Sanders. Sanders is the 74-year-old man I was talking about before. No Democrat candidate connects with millennials and younger people better than Bernie Sanders. Clinton attempts to connect but fails miserably. This fact is seen by her trying to use just emojis in Twitter posts. Bernie Sanders promises a brighter future for younger people. He does this by promising three things: getting big money out of politics, Medicare for all, and income and wealth equality. Getting big money out of politics is a huge deal, especially considering the state that politics is in right now. Six years ago in, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, the Supreme Court decided to give the right to own the government over to the wealthy. This decision made corrupt politics ever more corrupt. We now live in a country dominated by the wealthy, but this was not how America was established. We live in a country based on democracy. Right now, the only way to participate in our country’s politics is to have big pockets or wealthy contributors. This needs to be changed. Everybody deserves a shot. The government and Congress are no longer working...

Stereotypes: The Importance Of Voting In The United States

...presidential election according to the U.S. Elections Project, which was conducted by Dr. Michael P. McDonald, a political scientist at the University of Florida. These eligible voters outnumbered those who casted a vote for Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Among those who did vote, the age group that had the lowest participation rate ranged from 18 to 29 years old. This lack of participation of young Americans place a strain on issues that affect the young population, such as allowing officials to ignore concerns involving student debt and funding for higher education. Young Americans have the power to voice their political, social, and economic opinions to make a difference, but they ignore the opportunity to act during election day due to two misconceptions: their vote does not matter and the election does not concern them. Today, I am going to explain how every vote matters, express the importance of voting, and...

Neil Postman Amusing Ourselves To Death Analysis

...He states that with the invention of the television, America has slowly begun to value entertainment and aesthetically pleasing visuals over information or rationality. He states that entertainment itself has become the subject of the peoples discourse, causing the message to be less valuable than the entertainment value of its delivery. Postman is fearful of the direction that America is heading with television as its medium, as it demands rapid-fire editing, non-stop stimulation, and quick decisions rather than rational thinking. He uses the news as a perfect example of this, as television news reports consist of constant, short, unrelated news stories that have no implication, or cause and gravity or consideration to their content, as each stories content is overlapped with the next. Postman states that we are not inspired to take action by the news that we see or hear, but rather that we merely develop opinions on...

The Role Of Politics In The 90's

...Politics in the 90’s In the 1990’s there were several significant events in politics. Such as the Lewinsky scandal, Bush’s presidency, or operation desert storm. These events shook the political scene. The Lewinsky scandal, something that may have affected our most recent presidential election. Monica Lewinsky was an intern in the white house, when she and Bill Clinton (the president at the time)began to have, as Bill would call it, “inappropriate intimate physical contact”. This caused Bill’s loyalty to be called into attention, the population was convinced if he couldn’t be true to his wife, how could he be true to us. This lead to President Clinton’s impeachment at the end of his term. Bush’s presidency changed our country significantly....

President Hoover's Presidential Campaign

...Rather than just hearing a voice, viewers could, in the case of presidential addresses, look into the eyes of the President. Since television was still new at the time, the ability to look at the President while he was speaking to the country made people feel like he was talking directly to them, even more so than with radios. According to the Digital Public Library of America, “By 1955, half of American homes had a TV set in their homes.” (“Golden Age of Radio”, n.d.). In 1952, President Dwight D. Eisenhower became the first President to utilize what most people associate with a campaign ad; a thirty-second television spot in-between shows (Brownell, 2016). Previously, candidates had purchased blocks of television airtime late at night in order to have the time required to properly articulate all of their thoughts on policy to American citizens, but it was Eisenhower who first created a televised commercial for his campaign (Brownell, 2016). Moving forward, every President would speak to Americans live on television, and candidates would buy small pockets of airtime between shows to promote themselves and their...

The previous US presidents from 1789 to 2016 came into the White House with an average of 13 years in public office and 5.6 years of military service. This information belonged to the article “Donald Trump will be the only US president ever with no political or military experience” of author Zachary Crockett in Vox. Illegal Immigration

...In light of the 2006 elections, certain key issues evolved to the forefront of United States politics. The elections spur rapid debate about these topics as people decide who will gain their precious votes. A central issue that evolved became the problem of illegal immigration as it pertains to the United States border and more exclusively, the border of Mexico. The issue at hand is the problem of too many Mexican immigrants crossing over the United States border illegally. Immigration has been at the forefront of American politics for some time now. The issue is not only of recent concern, but of past concern as well. For most of the United States’ history, illegal immigrants have continually crossed the border into the United States. The branches of government involved in this situation is most likely all three of them. The judicial branch has no direct connection as of yet, but a court case can be seen in the future having to deal with this issue of illegal immigration. The executive and legislative branches are most directly involved by dealing with the creating of new legislation and executing it. The legislative branch has passed the necessary laws needed to deal with the illegal immigration issue such as the 700 mile fence across the border of the US and Mexico. The public officials involved with illegal immigration are numerous. The President all the way down to the small city officials cope and strategize about this issue. Cities and state official deal...

Does the U.S. Have the Moral Authority to Criticize China’s Human Rights?

...Kaamashri Latcha Every year, the United States studies and presents reports on hu- man rights practices in more than 190 countries around the world. In the 2010 Human Rights report, China was chastised by the U.S. for its poor human rights record. The Chinese government has been accused of imprisoning citizens for practicing their religious faith and op- pressing freedom of expression and information. The one child per family policy has been attacked continuously by the U.S. and they have also con- demned the arrest, detention and disappearance of Chinese citizens. This latest human rights report issued by the U.S. has highlighted many human rights transgressions in China. Yet the U.S. criticism on China’s human rights has been contradicted by China. As the fastest developing economy in the world, China is intent on defending its position where human rights are concerned. The two countries have had dialogues on human rights issues, the latest being held on April 27-28, 2011 in Beijing. The discourse came after prolonged foot- dragging on the part of both nations; talks were suspended for a few years. Both countries have not been able to publicly accept their human rights errors, but each has been focusing on violations committed by the other. Against the backdrop of military buildup by both countries, the con- troversy over whether the U.S. is morally justified in criticizing China’s hu- man rights can have far reaching and devastating effects for the entire world. The two...
