...Growth Executive Summary I learned what data management is and how it is critical to Business Information Systems. I also learned about driving value from Business Information Systems. The information gathered is used to maintain information given about the company and employees. The information gathered will also help keep my business competitive with other businesses. I also learned to focus more on updating the information systems to stay competitive. I learned from the assignments the importance of addressing the infrastructure issues and the staffing model to ensure the data management is aligning with the strategic plan (Khani ET a., 2011) and the resources were available to manage the customer service needs. With my new understanding of Business Information Systems, I can now improve and apply this knowledge to my business. The Improvements I will make is in analyzing data recovery, planning secure data storage, implementing, and managing the information system applications. This content of my assignments has helped me change the way I think in terms of data storage and how to get recovery if something happens. My goals are to implement a better way of storing my organization’s data with complete recovery of data. I have goals in sharing the information I learned with other managers and team members so they can also benefit from managing business information systems. With my work, I barely paid attention to Information Technology. I realize that after taking this...

...learning to drive there are three major steps; practicing, studying and testing. When practicing most just get behind the wheel and go, rather it be in a parking lot or on the street. Studying is the boring part, normally consisting of allot of reading and or watching. Finally there is the testing phase where he or she would prove their knowledge of what he or she has practiced and studied. This cycle may not go in this order for everyone but the process continues over and over throughout your driving years. When a male or female, child or adult, decides he or she wants to learn to drive or learn a new aspect of driving, then he or she tends to practice it in some way, shape, or form. When a child wants to learn to drive they typically ask their parents or care giver to get on their lap and steer the car while the adult controls the throttle and brake. Later in the child’s life he or she may be allowed to take over all controls fully and drive around in a parking lot, private roads or in some cases public roads. Video games the day and age are so realistic to the point where a person could practice driving while in the comfort of their own home and breaking no laws by letting an unlicensed driver behind the wheel of a car. When I was young and aspiring to drive, my reward was being able to drive my mom around for doing well in school and completing my chores. If I messed up my driving privileges were taken away from me. Since I was a pretty good child I learned to drive before I turned...

...Solid State Hard Drive Solid state hard drives known as SSD have been around for over 30 years. They haven’t been commonly used by manufactures, until recently when they have been recreated and used in portable devices such as Ipad and iPhones. This has to do with the expense of the SSD’s. Prior to the SSD manufactures have been using the Hard Disk Drive (HDD), which is designed completely different. HDD,s use a rotating disk which is accessed by a mechanical actuator, which SSD’s use nonvolatile memory. This makes for less moving parts and makes the SSD less fragile. SSD’s are used in smart phones and digital cameras. We know them as secure digital cards (SD cards) and flash drives; these are less complex versions of the SSD. The difference of a SSD and the version that is used in our mobile devices is the performance requirements. The memory needed for a digital camera is less demanding than what a multi core possessor laptop or a data server would need. More complex versions of the drives are made up of 3 blocks storage media, a controller for managing the media, and a host interface for accessing the media. When is come to comparing the SSD and HDD, they both are made to boot up our systems store applications, and our personal files. Booting up a SSD it will boot in seconds while a HDD takes longer because it has to spin up the disk to operating speed. HDD’s are also slow when it comes to accessing your files because it has to spin and practically find the file that you...

...The Clifton Strength assessment taught me the most about myself, and personally, I felt it gave the most accurate description of who I am. As we have discussed in class, these assessments are only models. Although all models are ultimately incorrect, what one learns from them can be valuable. What I learned from the Clifton Strength assessment is that my five strength areas include: Achiever, Competition, Focus, Futuristic, and Significance, and that I may not know myself as well as I thought. As I read my character traits, which I did not think fit my personality, to my girlfriend, she began to laugh at me. She later said that what I was reading described my exact personality. Of these five traits, I feel that Achiever and Competition truly describe who I am. I chose Achiever and Competition because they encompass not only how I act, but how I feel. At the Academy you are told everyday what you’re not good at. Never before had I constantly been aware of my weaknesses, and my need to fix them. I knew what I struggled with before coming to the Academy, but until I got here I did not understand how much I struggled in these areas. In high school,...

...This is the subject I chose to write about Drinking and Driving in a Social Perspective. The main focus will be on heavy alcohol consumption, control over alcohol, and drinking and driving while under the influence. I know this from personal experience while suffering from alcoholism for more than 25 years and I have been arrested four times for driving under the influence. What I have learned from my convictions of driving under the influence that society has generally condemned socially as an immoral action of a single individual that deliberately risks the lives of innocent others. But on the other hand driving under this influence tends to be social accepted with in certain social groups, especially as long as it does not harm others and if arrest is avoided I think that is for the ones that choose to drink and drive. I think is my case when I did it drink and drive it was not a moral paradox because how can I condemn and succeed with the same action. I think from a society perspective that a DUI situates in a complex relationship between individual drinkers and their social life and society itself. What I mean by this is that on one hand I think is judicial unlawfulness and socially responsibility and harm. On the other hand, a DUI is often practiced in certain social groups without definite restraints, even though people feel that to drive in an intoxicated state is a criminal and morally reprehensible act and a very aware of the BAC limit of 0.5. This does not necessarily...

...One of the quickest ways to intimidate a tough football player, ask them to donate blood. My high school’s annual blood drive is sponsored by the Doctors of Tomorrow club; a club I am the treasurer of and have been actively involved with since my freshman year. Every year one of our biggest challenges with the blood drive is meeting donor quotas. Knowing that each year about ten percent of the people signed up won’t be able to donate, it is essential we have enough people signed up in order to get enough blood. To most students it does not appear to take much work, but every club member knows that it’s success is the result of many hours of work and collaboration. Preparation for the blood drive, which takes place in October, starts in May....

Summary: The video taught me that everything that was developed after series 9x of operating systems is built on the NT platform. Also the NT did not have a device manager or a hardware wizard as well as not supporting plug and play. I also learned that Linux was developed by a Finnish student named Linus Torvalds. This information is not really useful for me its old information that for me has no value unless I want to be a technology historian. ...Throughout my time in college I have learned a lot about business, organizations and the many different theories on how to run them effectively. Being an effective leader means not only knowing about a theory but being able to use that knowledge to be a better leader and a better person. In this paper I will cover three key topics, the four-drive theory, path-goal theory and transformational leadership. I will also discuss how I will apply them to my management style in order to be a better leader. The first, the "four drive theory" is based on the innate drive to acquire, bond learn and defend that incorporates both emotions and rationality. (McShane & Young, 2016) Everyone is motivated by something, it is important to understand that the...

...In this video we learn about how to secure your computer and servers theft or tampering. You would do this by locking and controlling access to servers and locking computer cases as well. To protect them even further you should put server locations in high traffic areas, and create administrative alerts with audible alarms. You should also store backup in a separate and secure location, and lock user operating systems. Always physically destroy hard drives. This video also teaches us about CMOS password and how to set them up. We can create limits to the access through CMOS with full, limited, view only, and no access. We also learn about password protecting the hard drive. * Physical Security * Authentication * CMOS Password * Kerberos-Method used to encrypt passwords What I learned from this video is that companies go through great lengths to protect their computers and servers from intrusion. This video was basic and straight forward and not confusing at all, if anything its confusing that we should have to do so much to secure our files. I guess this information would best be used if you working for security company that specialized in server security, or if you worked for an internet server company. Local Security Policy This video was rather short but we did get to learn a few things. I learned how to access the local security settings using the administrative tools, and how set up an audit, as well as an...

The topics covered were the roles and actions business systems play in an organization, the utilization of data resources, how mangers can drive value from business information systems, the effects of establishing a process-oriented organization, the importance of security, ethical issues and business continuity planning, as well as the trends that will make up the future of business information systems. These were the major topics covered and thoroughly discussed during the course that help in acquiring new knowledge regarding this area of business. I have learned a great deal from all the above mentioned topics but the ones I believed to learn from the most was how business managers can drive value from business information systems, the potential ethics, privacy, and security risks that are faced in a business, and the trends that will shape the future. The content in those matters improved my understanding of managing business information systems within the organization I choose to create in this course as well as the organization I work for presently. The influence of this course and the knowledge I have acquired has inspired me in a more innovative and creative way. The better understanding of how to use these business systems to my advantage is what can help bring new creations or solve future issues before they arrive.
