For example, when there is a bunch of guys robbing the bank at the beginning of the movie. They just start killing each other off as soon as they do their job, but in the end the Joker takes it all. Other people may think that the Joker is an all around bad guy, but he has to be really smart to be able to plan everything out and have everything follow his plan without letting people know what the exact plan is. If you really think about it the Joker has to either have a mental disorder of some sort, or just uses his intelligence for evil. Maybe he couldn’t find something else to do with his intelligence and that’s why he chose to do evil. Like he said, without him Batman wouldn't really have a meaning to his name because there would be no evil to fight. As we all know, all the Joker aspires to do is to accomplish the goal of unmasking Batman and finding out his true identity. …show more content…
Batman would technically be a nobody if the Joker wasn’t around to keep him busy and entertained. When the character of Batman was little he was terrified of bats and one day he fell down well with a bunch of bats and it scared him for life. So, Bruce Wayne (Batman) decided to become the thing that he was most afraid of, bats. That's how Batman was created, he used his own fear to help people so that he could think of bats as a good thing and overcome his fear of them. In a way, the bat story as a child helped him flourish into who he is today. Batman also uses a deep voice to hide his identity of who he really

Andrew Vachss

...Although I am not a Batman fan, I think Andrew Vachss had a great idea in relating a fantasy world with the real world that we live in day to day. Andrew Vachss wrote this comic based of the question of “why”. Why does evil exist to hurt the most innocent and helpless human of all, a child? He used one of the most famous and feared detective/vigilantys of the graphic world as a medium to reach people. He uses Batman to play the main hero, or “Warrior”, to fight his crime and to get a better understanding of mentality of a pedophile. I believe Andrew Vachss writes Batman: The Ultimate Evil based on a personal conviction to persecute the evil doers of child abuse. He writes about a taboo that not many people want to talk about and opens the eyes of his readers that it is an ongoing problem both in the fantasy and real world. He uses Batman’s personal experience of his parents’ abuse to pursue the enemy. Because Batman is a “good guy”, Andrew Vachss puts a twist to the story and has Batman’s sidekick, Rhama, commit murder for him as he sits at a distance and watches. I believe Andrew Vachss does this to continue the “good” character role of Batman. He relates the relationship of Batman and Rhama in the fantasy world to one taking out vengeance one a pedophile via a hit man in our real world. Andrew Vachss can relate to Batman as a detective himself. Andrew Vachss kept a journal of details within his life to create his work ethic that he has today and use it to help the helpless victims...

Batman Dark Knight Ideologies

...Batman Dark Knight Project In the movie the movie Batman: The Dark Knight there are many overlapping complexities between characters in the movies. For example, Harvey Dent believes in bringing forth justice which can also been seen in the characteristics of batman. However, Harvey Dent conforms to society and follows the law (in the beginning) like Inspector Gordon. One key characteristic that Inspector Gordon has is that he is incorruptible like Batman himself. Batman doesn’t conform to society, he’s an outcast like the Joker. Also Batman and the Joker share another similarity which is they mask there identity. Lastly Harvey Dent at the end is physically two sided which can be seen in Bruce Wayne whose personality is two sided by being batman. In the movie I feel Bruce Wayne represents an actual dark knight. Bruce is a true knight at arms for he wields his weapon to protect the weak and fight the evil. He protects them out of sense of responsibility not for gain. He sacrificed his personal life for the good of people making him a true knight. He's dark because of his persona, manner and style. He wears all black and I feel that his style of justice is found unethical in today’s society and one may say his tactics are “dark”. With all this being said Bruce Wayne embodies the features of a “Dark Knight". Batman’s ideologies and philosophies consist of being a hero who is willingly to sacrifice everything, even himself, for city of Gotham and its people...

Impediments to Reform

...Leadership Point Paper “The Dark Knight” Overall Classification: UNCLASSIFIED//FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY Introduction Batman, the main character in the “Dark Knight” trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan has long been a good and moral center for those who know of him, even before he became a Hollywood blockbuster. However, Batman isn’t just a superhero, he is also an everyday individual, Bruce Wayne, who faces the same dilemmas and uncertainties as any other person might encounter. The two personas, when analyzed together provide us with, be it good or bad, a holistic picture of how difficult it can be to make a decision, even if it is clearly the right decision. This essay seeks to analyze two key points from one movie in the trilogy, “The Dark Knight Rises.” The first key leadership point from the film is, lead from the front as well as the back and trust your team. While Batman made an excellent solo superhero, he gradually had to learn to trust others around him to help him accomplish his mission. In this film in particular, Bruce Wayne had to trust Mr. Fox with the handling of Wayne enterprises, something they may not seem important to his role as Batman. However, the company was the major way of getting Batman the tools and gadgets he needed. Alternatively, Batman trusted Cat Woman to blow the pile of cars blocking the exits from Gotham City, a task that he could not accomplish while performing the other critical tasks required of him. And lastly, both personas entrusted...

Many years and further thoughts of storyline brought a landmark pair of graphic novels from 1986, Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns and Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's The Watchmen, which ushered in an age of superheroes that sided with the “bad guys” to introduce sympathy for why the villain does what they do. Despite these modifications the superhero continues to...

...and caped vigilante, Batman, by night. Clark Kent, reporter from the town of Smallville, but one phone booth change later he’s Superman, an alien sent to Earth who has chosen to fight for good. Both support the general population and can often be found giving aid to those who can’t defend themselves. Many people believe that Superman is superior in every way, shape, and form. They would be wrong. Batman is the more helpful and heroic icon in almost every aspect and situation. Superman fights many large scale battles almost exclusively against larger than life villains. Although heroic and lifesaving, this act is anything, but impactful. As said best by an article put out by Stanford University,“Leaders of large initiatives commonly make the mistake of assuming that if they just do more—harder, faster, longer—they will...

Violent Media and Violent Behavior

...Violent Media and Violent Behavior Paula M. Méndez, Megan Roy Miosotis Nieves University of Phoenix BCOM/275 July 23, 2013 Javier Maury-Ortiz Pros and supporting evidence There have been studies to prove that violent movies, games, and television shows can influence violent behavior. Multiple cases have shown that individuals playing video games, especially violent ones, can lead to aggression. Children who tend to play these types of games lose control rather easily, they tend to kick the controller against the floor or throw other various objects when enraged. They also show their frustration by using profanity or lashing out towards others playing the game with them or towards the game itself. Dr. Jordan Grafman at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke conducted a study which showed adolescent boys that were exposed to violent games over a long period of time tended to show aggressive behavior, desensitization, and loss of empathy. Twenty-two boys were chosen to view short clips that show different range of violent from low, mild, and moderate. The ones who were expose to more violent movies, videos, or television shows were the one who were had less empathy. Dr. Grafman concluded that those who were more desensitization were the most likely to have violent behavior and less empathy. There was another study done from 130 research reports on more than 130,000 subjects worldwide which was done by Craig Anderson a professor of psychology at Iowa...

Stereotypes: A Summary And Analysis

...My first image of an Arab was from the film Aladdin. Moreover, beyond that I remember comic comments towards them in movies and shows. I found your comment on the importance of knowing where stereotypes originated and how they affect oppressed groups, including your excellent example a stereotype of Arab generates bigotry, intriguing. Your example of Fox Children Network’s Batman illustrates Arab being depicted in a bad light. This speaks to the power of visuals. I do not believe people recognize how efficacious they are. The visuals about Arab American tells a story and even help depict our emotions toward them. The tactic of colors helps convey ideas of good and bad. Just like your example, the bad guys had a dark complexion. The villain, the tough guy, the enemy often has a darker skin; this is common especially in cartoons....

Batman vs. Iron Man

...crusader for justice, and defender of Gotham City. Now that sounds like a real superhero and someone to look up to. Playboy, Spare Parts Man, alcoholic; does that sound like someone youʼd call a hero? Batman and Iron Man are very different kinds of heroes, but the men behind the masks seem to be very similar on the surface. While Batman has a very strict moral code and refrains from killing anyone when he can, Iron Man has no qualms about killing. Both Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark are billionaires, both seem to be good with the ladies, and both are extremely intelligent. Neither have any real “super-powers,” but both used their intellect to make themselves into heroes. Bruce Wayne outside of his suit could hold his own in a fight with his martial arts background. Tony Stark, on the other hand, seems to have no desire to better himself in hand-to-hand combat. As a child, Bruce witnessed his parents being murdered and swore to keep the city safe. While being held hostage by a group of terrorists, Tony makes the Iron Man suit purely to save himself. After these life changing experiences, both take to the vigilante life but for different reasons: Bruce to protect citizens so that no one else would have to feel the pain he felt, and Tony for the recognition and fame. Letʼs talk about motivation. Batman began because a little boy was left devastated and traumatized. Bruce Wayne was orphaned as at the age of eight after seeing his parents gunned down by a mugger. That same night, Bruce swore to...

Anatomy & Physiology Term Paper/Story

...explained that she was still alive through every cut, and the last cut, a transverse one to her cervical, was the one that killed her. “I’d say it’s your guy again, detective.” said Sarah. Detective Morgan’s hunch was right, it was him. The most unoriginal serial killer of all time was back, even his name was bland. The Villain is what he called himself. And, although he was unoriginal in his ways, he was still sly. The Villain based most of his crimes off of The Joker from Batman, but rather than leaving a playing card, he left a knife. The Villain has been estimated to have killed around fifty three people this year alone and has yet to be arrested. Shortly after leaving the scene, another 911 call was received by detective Morgan, this one was still alive. When he arrived on scene number two, there was a woman in the back of an ambulance who called herself “Sunshine.” No, she wasn’t a hippie. She was a prostitute. There was blood running from her nasal to her oral. It was also visible that superior to her abdominal but inferior to her sternal, she had been cut . . . bad. “Miss, can you tell me what happened?” asked detective Morgan. “He tried to cut me so I hit him in the inguinal with my patellar.” replied Sunshine. Detective Morgan didn’t know where to go from there, he’d never seen someone survive an attack from this guy. When they arrived at the hospital, Sunshine underwent a pelvic exam . . . which now seems pointless since they...

Dc Comics

...Oral Roberts University SUPERIORITY AND BLURRED LINES: An observation of the themes communicated in major DC Comics storylines Joshua Gallego Philosophy of Science HONR 102 Dr. Ken Weed/Dr. Samuel Thorpe March 13, 2014 Introduction Superheroes are part of an American upbringing. Stories of persons with capabilities that far exceed that of the human race are popular and appealing to our youth and even to many adults. Entertainment in general pervades the American culture, and this specific type of entertainment dealing with superheroes is of considerable size and has been a constant for several decades. Images of Superman, Captain America and many others are immediately recognized when seen. The entertainment value of these fictitious tales has caused the companies that own them to expand into creating computer games and producing movies, which has made them even more visible. It is considered weird if a person does not even know the basic story of these costumed figures. The adventures, stories, and even lives of these fictions have become a part of the American Psyche. Throughout the course of this semester, discussion in the Philosophy of Science class has led to topics such as the paradigms and presuppositions that we approach our world from and the metaphors that we use to communicate ideas and concepts. Such discussion has led to the asking of questions concerning things that we encounter in everyday circumstances. Questions like “What are the presuppositions...
