...Running head: HEALTH STATUS AND HEALTH CARE Health Status and Health Care Services in Canada with Comparison to the United States Bonny Tiley DeVry University, HSM 310 In the following literature, the Canadian health care system will be compared in detail to the United States health care system. There are two very different health care systems between Canada and the United states. They each have their own difficulties within their own systems and are currently trying to find ways to improve these particular issues. The Universal Health Care system is used in Canada; this provides coverage to all the citizens of Canada (Canadian Health Care, 2007). It is executed on either a territorial or provincial basis, staying within the guidelines that have been made by the federal government (Canadian Health Care, 2007). The United States on the other hand has a hugely private system, with multiple payers, leaving the US citizens no choice other than to pay out of one’s own pocket in order to obtain health insurance, also Americans are not fully insured or even partially insured like the citizens of Canada are (Canadian Health Care, 2007). Each country spends a large amount of funding for their health care systems. Starr-Yoho HSM/210 October13, 2013 Ilisher Ford Prevention The preventive measure that would be best suited for the population that I picked in Week 2, the mentally ill, would be the tertiary preventive measure. This measure deals with a small group of people or an individual. It is helps rehabilitates individuals back into society. This preventive measure restores an individual to better health (Ch.8, p.310). The government regulations for this population to get the help that they many need is pretty rigid. They must go to a doctor, psychiatrist or to a hospital so many times, before they may even considered having a mental illness. Many times, the mentally ill do not go to a doctor, because they do not know what is required of them, they have no one to help them to get here or to help them understand what it is that is being asked of them. An obstacle that can be averted with the mentally ill getting the help that they may need, is to have an advocate go with that person to the doctor’s appointment and speak to that doctor, on their behalf and help them with the paper work that may be involved. Having the advocate there would lessen the strain on the individual needing help. Another obstacle that needs addressed is the cutting of funds to the clinics that help the mentally ill. Barrett School of Marketing, University of Technology, Sydney, Australia Abstract Purpose – This study aims to explore the impact of hedonic shopping motivations (HSM) and supermarket attributes (SMA) on shopper loyalty (SLO). Design/methodology/approach – A sample of 608 supermarket shoppers in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam was surveyed to test the model. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data. Findings – It was found that SMA and HSM had positive effects on SLO. It was also found that the impact of hedonic motivations on SLO was different between the younger and older, as well as lower and higher income groups of customers. However, no such difference was found between female and male shoppers. Research limitations/implications – A major limitation of this study was the use of a sample drawn from one transitional market. Cross-national samples will be a direction for further research. Germany for example has a well working social system and private insurance system that provides excellent care of their population. Germany is able to provide good health insurance to any citizen in the country from the moment they are born. The Insurance Company has a liaison in the hospital that will prepare all needed forms and paperwork to give to the mother the day after she gives birth to her child. The only thing “Mom” has to do is sign the paperwork and continue to rest. The hospital and the insurance company are taking care of the all the paperwork and fine print for the new mother. From this point forward, the newborn citizen can be treated like every other citizen in the country. Tests are being completed and immunizations are given as needed.
