...regardless of its field has some or the other future prospects, but the extent and time may differ. After completion of my graduation from an average college, I was in a state of dilemma to go which way, which course can ensure me a good career growth? I started searching out for different courses that can go for higher studies. After a lot of research and consultation, I zeroed on Masters in Business Administration. MBA is a program, which draws students from different academic backgrounds and gives exposure to them regarding different facets of business such as marketing, finance, operations and human resources. MBA makes a candidate ready to face all the challenges of business. I think MBA is a degree, which can assure good career growth even to a simple graduate (Master of Business Administration- MBA) MBA is a degree or program, where you not only learn from the faculty, but also from your colleagues, who come from diverse academic background. It makes an individual aware of all the fields that are needed in a business process. A person holding an MBA degree is capable of doing everything, which is beyond the reach of a normal graduate. This program makes a person fully trained to tackle all kinds of situation that can arise in business and also teaches to tackle them by his or her knowledge, grit and gumption. ...How will the MBA program fit with my career plans? My career at IBM has taken a seemingly planned path to bring me where I am today with the corporation. In reality, my career has been a mix of exact choices, hard work, and a bit of surprise. I began my career at IBM in May of 2004 after receiving my Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University. I was hired into a technical role as a circuit design engineer working on microprocessor design for IBM’s mainframe System Z servers. The opportunity to design and contribute as a member of a world-class design team was both extremely exciting and intimidating. The engineers at IBM are the best in the industry and many have made IBM their home for entire careers; I immediately set a goal to become a key contributor to the team while striving to learn as much as possible from my mentors and colleagues. My first mentor within the company gave me a piece of advice, he said: “Take every opportunity presented to you, large or small, and also be a team player” I took this to heart and made this a driving force in my career. This led me very quickly from an entry-level engineer in my first project to a unit and team lead a couple of years later. New pathways continued to present themselves and I jumped at each challenge with enthusiasm as my mentor’s advice echoed in my mind. I was afforded the opportunity to not only deliver on known work assignments, but also the opportunity...

...especially important when one is to start of one’s professional career. Such decisions may not give result exactly as expected by the person but planning about them well in advance certainly does hold an advantage. This report represents the path that I wish to take for my career or my future following graduating with an MBA. With an emphasis on my strengths and weaknesses especially those that differentiate me from my competing fellows and are important to my line, I have tried not only to see which line I would personally prefer to pursue but also the one which is more in congruence with my skill set. The major intent, however, is not to select a career path but rather to develop a marketing plan for my personal brand using systematic methods commonly used in regular commercial marketing as well. As a result, I have been able to know about my own interest as well as of the skills that I possess and those that I would need to develop based on who my target audience would be and what goals I have set in relation to my long term objectives. For this, I have analyzed a list of my strengths and weaknesses to see which field interests me most and how I would be able to attain my defined goals and objective. Mission: My mission in life is that I want to see myself in a position where everyone appreciates me. My goals and objectives: My short term goal is to get a good job and fulfill my become self-dependent and give some contribution in supporting my family. My long term goal is to have...

...is now offering online classes for their students. There are several accredited colleges that were started only to offer online classes. On the road to success, students encountering online education reap many benefits that better prepare them for their future. This is my first experience with on-line learning, and it has been a great experience so far. The teachers are very helpful and guide the students with text and videos on how to take an online class. Anytime a student requires any assistance they could just email the teacher and so far I've experienced that all my teacher’s reply within one day if not within hours. There are various benefits of having an online class. There is no need to drive to college every day and you can save money on gas and driving expenses. You can do your assignments on your own time and set your own schedule. It is easier for people who work to do this in their time after work or on their days off. Also, transferring credits is a breeze as I could take summer online classes and transfer them to my four year college while working at the same time. Chicago is a city well known for its cold weather. There are many instances in a year where snowstorms have, and can occur. In this semester specifically, it is still winter and therefore snow is inevitable and causes colleges to cancel classes. These classes then have to be made up and can cause the semester to run longer, which is inconvenient for students that work and have other tight schedules....

Consortium for Research on Emotional Intelligence in Organizations www.eiconsortium.org Self Directed Learning 2 The new economy is not about technology, it is about a change in the basic assumptions about the nature of work. Contributing to this are several demographic factors. Worldwide, the workforce is aging. By 2050, the average age of the US population will increase to 40 (from 36 in 1995). In the US in 1999, 19% of the workforce was 70 or older. By that same year, the number of retirees in Europe will be greater than the number of people in the workforce (The Economist, 2000). The workforce and population is becoming increasingly ethnically and racially diverse. By 2050, 24% of the workforce (about 97 million people) in the US will be Hispanic. ...into a relatively normal middle class family in the March of 1978, my dad was English and my mom Afrikaans. We were two siblings with me being the eldest, with a younger brother. I was blessed early on in life as I had both sets of grandparents on both sides as well as one great-grandmother on my mother’s side until I was twenty. My dad’s side of the family was from Irish decent and my great-grandmother from German decent. I grew up loved, and I adored my dad, for the most part we were a relatively normal suburbia family (Robbins & Judge, 2015). My grandparents on both sides where hardworking South African, my grandfather on my mom’s side worked for the Department of Trade and Industry as Head of Strategic Industries, while my grandfather on my dad’s side worked for Safair as an Area Manager. My dad didn’t pursue further education (Robbins & Judge, 2015) after school and started working in the sales. My mom pursued a diploma in art as she and her whole side of the family had that natural artistic flair. My dad and mom met when he was in the military service stationed in Upington, and strangely he first had eyes on my mom’s sister but after meeting both my mom and her sister my dad said that my mom was the girl he was going to marry after their first date. My brother and I were very different from an early age, I believe that due to the fact that I realised early on that my parents had to work really hard to keep the household together I took on adult responsibilities...

Xiearmyxiearmy 零四岁末于美国穷乡僻壤 Chapter I Application Essay Examples INTRODUCTION This appendix contains 115 actual essays written, by 17 different applicants, for leading MBA programs. They address dozens of different essay topics. The applicants and their essays have been selected to give you the widest possible range of materials from which to profit. The first four applicants all applied to the University of Chicago. They were chosen by Chicago’s admissions director, Don Martin, according to my desire that they be from four very different people and of average quality for those admitted. In other words, these essays will show you exactly what you are competing against. They are of perfectly acceptable quality, but they should not discourage you. If you follow the lessons of this book you should be able to surpass each of these efforts. The second set of three applicants—Melissa, Doreen, and Carol—is taken from Columbia University’s files. Columbia’s admissions director, Linda Meehan, was asked to supply several applications, again from people of widely differing backgrounds, but this time of superior quality. I think that this group’s applications...

...Reflection Paper Introduction The five weeks of the Cultural aspects of international business course have been a truly enriching life experience for me. I must admit that I was a little skeptical about the value proposition of the course as I thought this was going to be one of those purely theoretical pro-diversity lectures with no potential for practical application. However, the fact that Professor Lane co-authored the textbook intrigued me so much (I have never had a Professor who actually wrote the textbook for the course) that I decided to give it a chance and sign-up for the course. The Cultural aspects of international business course has helped me to discover new perspectives and taught me to look at things through multiple sets of eyes which I find to be an extremely effective tool while working in different cultural environments and with people from other cultures. As I value all topics covered in this course, this paper will mainly focus on select topics and theories and their practical application at my workplace. Specifically, I will discuss how learnings about Cultural dimensions and stereotyping, the MBI model, the Organizational alignment model and Global virtual teams have re-shaped my perspective and attitude towards cultural aspects of international business and what benefits my newly acquired knowledge will bring to my team and company. Company, team and personal cultural characteristics As it was previously mentioned, this paper will discuss...
